Pizza Hut franchisee files bankruptcy: 300 restaurants, mostly dine-in locations, to close

Miss my local dine in Pizza Hut a lot. As a kid I remember the personal pan pizzas, great salad bar, book it program and always getting goodies (posters, themed plastic cups)

RIP BABY.

Sounds like it'll stick around. Its just that the buffet locations are closing because everyone is doing delivery/pickup.

Can't remember the last time I had Pizza Hut. It's been years.
Out of the major chains, I prefer Dominoes and we have much better local options in PHX.

they have like 7000 locations in the US, as stated they are closing those larger sit down restaurants.

those stores likely have been trending downward anyways and this covid thing gives them an excuse to ax those.

What? isn't pizza hut big?

it was, it has not kept up.

Dominoes is a good example of how to stay relevant. So much can be done from thier app and they have a solid online marketing plan. They also Don't waste money pretending to be a reasturant (sit down)

I had a Pan pizza form there two weeks ago for the first time in years. It was ok. I still hate to hear about this.

That sucks. At least it is mostly dine-in locations. I would hate to have to go hunting for my pizza.

Too bad their pizza is the definition of mediocrity. If only they could that right...

Would I be wrong in saying they are bigger in Europe and Asia now than they are in America?

It's a really popular choice in the Middle East... from people who don't know any better...

Pizza Hut did not file bankruptcy lol

NPC International, a company that runs about 25% of pizza huts did.

They are selling 75% of their stores as part of it.

This is some franchise owning big company not handling their debt well... considering most of their Pizza Huts are something they think they can sell, doubt it even has to do with Pizza Hut's popularity at all. They are killing off the dine-in locations.. because during a pandemic those are likely a tough sell.

And nothing of value has been lost.

Only bummer is the people loosing jobs, the food business is pretty cut throat and if your not on top of your game you'll end up on this situation.

They will go belly up in Europe too, way too expensive, greasy arse thick dough nasty pizza, won't be missed.

Though, atleast here they always have a liqour license.. :o

Know what's crazy? People in Japan liking KFC. Like shit son, there is far better chicken the hell are you doing haha!

They shouldn't have gotten rid of The Big Dipper. Man, that was a good deal and some of the sauces were pretty great albeit not spicy enough.

It's not cheap, and makes me physically ill from all the grease. There's a low bar to clear, and they just don't seem to even try.

We have about a dozen different local places around here that cost either the same, or like $2 more while being 100x better. We literally have a gas station chain with better pizza, Casey's in the midwest. We have a local place that has had $5 pizzas since the 90s that is much, much better.

Whatever they're doing in terms of actually making the food is clearly wrong. Pretty sure it's all frozen dough, and the balance between cheese, meat and dough is off in some critical way, because it's unbelievably greasy. I don't know if they coat every pizza in oil before running it in the oven or what.

Even if you want to grab a quick lunch, almost every pizza place sells large individual slices instead of those dumb 4 inch pizzas with nothing on it.

Man I hope the one in my city isn't a sit down one. It's the only chain pizza place I am willing to order a few times a year. Really don't want to live in a world where Dominos is the only option for me, that stuff tastes like the cardboard it's carried in. Still love the Pizza hut Deep Dish pizza and breadsticks.

Noooooooooooooooooo
I just ate there over the weekend and it was amazing
My favorite restaurant!

Well, I can't say for the US, but the Brazilian ones are trash... last time I ate I thought I was going to need a stomach replacement.

You want to know where KFC is surprisingly good? Thailand.

Granted any time I had it I was off my face, but that shit was sensational.
Some of the best LFC I ever had was in Cambodia. People say it is cuz the chickens are organic. I wonder if that is true.

In Vietnam, they treat KFC and Pizza Hut as luxury restaurants.

Huge in Asia, but they don't really focus on pizza that much, it's more of a sit down restaurant. I miss seeing the salad bar tower stackers in China since they removed the salad bar.

This wasnt some random thing, you'd see it in all the Pizza Hut restaurants.

Pizza Hut was good back around 25 years ago, but they've been slowly making their pan pizza worse until it's bottom of the barrel for chain pizza.

My local one is absolutely the nastiest food in town.

I know a corporation but it still makes me feel bad for them and very sad overall hearing things like this.

But I thought every anti-corporation person thinks every big business has billions to spare? As you can see that myth only applies to some companies. The people who will get affected the most are the low wage front line workers.

Sucks that Pizza Hut failed. I know it's greasy shit but got to say it tastes good.
