Planetside 2 and DC Universe Online coming to PS4

The game should work pretty seamlessly on PS4. No worries about tons of different HW configs. Even if it's not quite up to the PC version maxed, it should still look amazing and more importantly, be super fun.

Hahaha, really? How did that work? Did an SOE employee just join your squad and say that? Very cool.

Dunno if this was answered by someone else but I just got home, apparently our Outfit, BWC and 666 were contacted by SOE to help with an e3 trailer and were told to meet up on Amerish last Wednesday on Mattherson at 7pm est. We had a SOE guy join our outfit, teamspeak and one of our platoons so that he could get footage with an observer cam as well as audio from TS. I assume they had one for each faction. We were told to concentrate at the Ascent and Bastion

The whole thing was kinda funny, I think SOE originally wanted to pit the 3 factions against each other at the Ascent and Bastion but 20 minutes in an Amerish alert started lol

heh, heard Nobel's and Kytten's voices. Guess the others are the BWC and Devil Dog's leaders.

Haha yeah I recognized them right away :)

join a big clan, a lot of co-ordination! I think even neogaf has a clan. My name online handle is SniperHunterGAF :)

Don't think we have a clan. Tried, but not alot of people stuck round. Maybe if everyone rolled to the same server and faction, but that didn't happen. Some rolled into various larger outfits.

yea, I just went lone-wolf.... A gaf clan would be amazing though

maybe we will form a clan in the future. the more attention this game gets, the better!

PS2 is so amazing.

EDIT: Just watched that trailer. Nobody talks like that LOL.

Certain leaders in azure twilight do, since they're in that trailer. The British guy and girl are AT, and the guy (Nobel) talks exactly like that.

No thanks. It should be gamepads versus gamepads, and kb/m versus kb/m.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with this.

PC already has the option to hook up a controller on games like Battlefield 3 and Black Ops 2, so there really isn't any advantage or any unfair problems that occur.

If you are good at what you have, you will beat anyone. Most players aren't even that good at any game, so competition isn't even stiff.

Yup the British guy and gal are from Azure Twilight and do talk like that. When we have squad channels up (usually when its a full platoon), squad leaders join a 2ndary channel in teamspeak and speak like that to platooon leaders. But yea when you're commanding >48 people at once it really helps when everyone keeps all voice chat to tactical information info only. When they "command" they are acknowledging that they're talking in that 2ndary channel where only squad leaders and platoon leaders are in.

I sure hope the PS4 version is well optimized, because the PC version sure isn't.

No, no, a person with a mouse will outgun a controller anytime. This isn't a new concept, people have tested out console-pc crossplay already, and the results are always the controller user getting clowned. Separating the PC and PS4 playerbase is the right decision, and with a F2P game there's little barrier-to-entry for both versions. Hopefully there will be credit carryover.

for those of you that think the footage are rare occurrences: download it, jump in, and hit the Instant Action button.

it's drops you right in the middle of the shit on whatever continent you're on. there's always a shitfest going on SOMEWHERE. it's often times beautiful. huge battles like that can crop up in unexpected places too, because other clans/guilds/groups/etc. will coordinate onto one area you just so happened to be in.

once i was just following a waypoint my squad (that i autojoined) pointed me to. after about 20 minutes of trying to take a heavily fortified base suddenly dozens of other squads showed up. we parked a bunch of Sunderrers (APCs that serves as a spawn point) behind a big hill, and within a few minutes there was a massive army of foot soldiers on our hill. we rained, LITERALLY, a shower of rockets onto the base. took all of their turrets, any tanks that tried to rush us, and any aircraft that came after our sunderrers. they put everything/everyone they had into defending that base and it took a few hours before the line finally moved. meanwhile, some of our other squads were capturing their other unattended bases.

what a fucking blast. #planetside2stories

I downloaded and installed PS2 to see if my laptop can run it...

On the lowest settings possible (in windowed mode) I get an average of 15 fps. Lol :(

So yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to the PS4 version.

If you have a dual-core at least... well, based on the Twitter messages, it looks like good multicore support will come with PS4 version, so your laptop might actually run the game then... With bad graphics of course (i assume you're CPU limited) but that's beside the point.

I get around 25-30FPS, too little really, too uneven. Always 30 would be playable as far as i'm concerned.
So, yeah, i'm looking forward to the PS4 version too.

These screens need to be posted o_O

I'm hyped!

Will more people download Planetside 2 at launch then there will be people buying BF4 (on PS4) ?

I mean, the answer doesn't really mean anything as this game will thrive but interesting to hear.

Battlefield 4 is real-world military action and much easier to get into but obviously it's also $60 compared to Free.

Personally I'm getting both.

This really is a huge strategy that's finally coming together for Sony. I mean Sony Computer Entertainment has always been putting out some quality things, and to now see full PS4 support from this Sony branch makes all that work worthwhile and really brings in a whole new slew of exclusive titles that weren't even being considered by the people thinking about console exclusives from previous gen.

This.

Also, being on console and F2P, this will probably push me over the edge to see what all the cool Planetside 2 hype has been about since I'm mostly a console gamer and don't play very many FPS.

Holy crap at those screens.

I know I want BF4 but I'm not as interested in the multiplayer because to me BF3 multiplayer was worse than Bad Company 2.

I'm already buying KZ, and need to buy inFamous, Knack, etc.

So I will probably wait on BF4 to go down in price a bit, meanwhile i can get PS2 for free :D

Depends on the region but its not possible for most Canadians to download something like Planetside 2. I mean, they could but I know I would easily go over my bandwidth cap if this was to happen. I mean over the course of the month, I have 80gbs and 5 other family members sharing.

switch to Primus if you can. thank god I have unlimited bandwidth :D

that's basically confirmed, if both Planetside 2 and DCUO is coming over, I think it's safe to assume all SOE games will be on both PC and PS4

Yup. SOE is integrated into SCE now so they would be developing PS4 and PC versions side by side. It helps now that the PS4 has a PC-like architecture.

Make these pre-loaded on every system, it would be awesome to open the new box and be able to jump right into these. I couldn't stick with DCUO on PS3 because of how poorly it looked/ran, but would love to give it another shot.

Frick, PS2, DCUO, FF14... I won't have any time to play any single player games! O.o

A bit of shooter overload here. Killzone, PS2, COD:Ghosts, Blacklight: Retribution, Wolfenstein and BF4 all at launch. Tough to pick.

Has it been confirmed Planetside 2, Blacklight: Retribution, and Wolfenstein are launch games?

Some people seem to be implying that this will be ready for launch, but that hasn't been confirmed has it? Surely they need to have a PS4 version beta test etc? I'm just so used to console MMOs taking forever to come out or not coming out at all... though I think the 360 version of FF XI was a launch title so it isn't unheard of (or was that a beta too?)

I don't expect Planetside 2 to be a launch game. But if it is, and the network and payment system and everything works smoothly, then that's mighty impressive.
