Put me in the camp that says 1st person servers will do nothing to stop camping.
All these streamers bitching about how much they need first person will just find something else (or the exact same thing) to care about.

You're still just gonna have people sitting in houses with their guns pointed towards the doors. Right now I think people outside of houses actually have an advantage over those in houses. House camping is going to be even more powerful in first person.

Tree battles will be different, I will give you that.

*edit: I think first person mode will be a lot of fun and feel nicely different. And I will definitely play it quite a bit. But everyone acting like this is going to eradicate camping is crazy

Game actually runs really well on my i7-920, GTX 670 and 12GB DDR3 RAM. Most settings on low but still, it surprised me a lot after seeing some vids with similar specs.

Anyone up for a few games? would love to do some co-op

Agreed. Outside camping will be much harder without being able to see through the grass.

So circles that end up in grassfields will be a lot more interesting.

But house camping is gaining a huge boost here.

I don't know about that but at least, moving with they joystick is better vs WASD. You lose an advantage but gain a different one.

You gain a small advantage while losing a gigantic one.

Totally agreed here. A cautious person will almost always be able to spot a camper using the third person camera. In FPS mode you'll have to walk in to each room ready to check every corner so looting buildings will always be tense.

People use controllers for the PC version of this?
I feel like given this kind of game's precise aim requirement's it'd be a hell of a handicap.

I use a controller. Default settings.
it's clunky. Got to figure out the button mapping. (island map on left stick click, WTF)

The inventory doesn't work with a pad too (or i missed something), so i still use a keyboard for item management -_-;.

And yeah aiming is difficult. I've been in advantageous positions numerous times and still couldn't kill the guy standing 1 meter in front of me.
In a corridor.
With a shotgun.

I need to mess wth sensitivity settings...

Got my first chicken dinner in a duo game with a random(!) German dude who did most of the heavy lifting and a had a bit more experience. I felt like I did damage to a bunch of people but he kept getting the actual kills, it was only near the end where I got a couple of important frags. It was a 2v2 in the end and the other guys had a solid crossfire going on but apparently lacked the comms because my teammate swooped in and got them both. Quite the rush.

It's obvious you've missed the point, saying one thing then saying something completely different isn't 'erring on the side of caution' it what politicians love to do and it's called a U-Turn.

If he can't get his information straight better to say nothing at all.

Its almost as if twitter isnt a good platform to discuss things on

god this game performs in the weirdest ways. i've gone from sub60 at both high and low pre-last patch, then i managed to get 60fps on low last patch, and now after the patch 2 days ago i seem to be able to play it on high at 60fps without any drops(so far).

i'm on a 1070 / 6700k, are they just improving performance every patch or should i be worried about my computer?

Would people really hate it if they added a custom game where you could respawn?

I would love to just get a better feel for weapons and gunfighting, but some matches go on 45minutes and you barely fire off any shots. I need practice.

As a custom game that'd be fine.

The problem would be respawning with no weapons.

You'd have to have some sort of loadout.

It wont eradicate camping, the gameplay promotes camping, no third person peaking is just gonna turtle up the turtles more. It will harm people who want to raid a house since it will be more difficult to peak in windows.

Also fuck Streamers.

I feel like I'm regressing at this game. It seems like everyone knows where I am and I know where no one else is. Super frustrating. Maybe first person servers is what I'm going to need.

Why do we want to stop camping? Its a huge part of the game. This isnt cod. Its more strategy than aiming skill

Camping, as you would call it, is a important part of PUBG, as its rather for tactical positioning and holding the grid area and not for sitting in a corner spamming noob tubes.

I'd love alot of versatility in custom modes. I miss the old tf2/cs/hlonline server browsers with all kinds of crazy shit and modes going on.

Does the Vector have any practical use? I swear it needs a much bigger base clip, it's such a bad gun.

It has a higher dps than the Uzi, so aside from the mag size, I prefer it at close range. Not sure why anyone would bother using any smg at mid to long range.

I'd say camping is an important part of a lot of FPSes and hasn't been a valid complaint about the genre outside Arena FPSs where there's random spawns and static weapon pickups.

Personally I've gotten like 10 chicken dinner in squads and survived like 2 of them at the end, the rest it's like "squad survives dragging my dead corpse" and it's always me dying at the very last circle.

Man, I wish I recorded my shotgun flick earlier. It was the kind you see the real good players do, where you just hear those mysterious footsteps from the late drop and just turn and 1 shot them in a single motion.

We don't. The average player of this game doesn't. 99% of the player base doesn't.

Streamers do because campers fuck up their stream. They have to play in a way that entertains people. PUBG is a game of tactics and consideration. That doesn't make for a good stream.

First person mode is not meant to stop campers, wut. It's meant to make the game more fair. If you see someone, they should be able to see you as well.

Not according to the majority of big streamers.

Summit gets killed "fucking campers, can't wait until first person mode gets implemented"

Beaglerush (the XCOM streamer who's now big into PUBG) has made it clear he hates the third person camping complaints and notes how it gives people taking on campers and advantage as well, to the point that he just said he's considering making a video about clearing houses just so people stop whining about third person "cheating."

Who doesn't find shitting yourself in a ratty little shack for 15minutes as gunfire goes off all around you when you're in the fina for the 100th time entertaining? Come on, it's made for TV.

It's definitely the game. No need to worry.

Srsly

3rd person helps bother the camper and the attacker. Open a door, you can look inside without being in front the door. Climb stairs, you can peak whats on top without showing your head.

I can't believe they still haven't made a way for us to turn off controllers. This recent update now replaced all my button prompt icons with Xbox controller icons so long as my Xbox One controller's plugged into my computer. I keep it plugged in so when I do play something that uses it, I can pick it up and play just like that. 99.99% of my games let me disable it, or auto-switch to whatever input was most recently received. Meanwhile PUBG enables every single device, seems to prioritize the Xbox controller with this update, and doesn't even have a way to disable controller vibration either.

Huh? That's a large part of the problem, but that's not the only complaint streamers and just people who play the game in general have. The main complaint is the usual which has to do with people being capable of peeking behind the cover they have without people seeing them. Of course this promotes camping. A lot of the time I find my squad held up in a house with all of us being capable of covering every exterior side of the house just by being near a window. We can see everything outside the house for like a mile, but nobody out there can tell we're held up in this house until they get shot at by us, or they come in the house and get killed by us.

Of course this doesn't change camping inside buildings. First person would actually allow you to camp in areas you wouldn't have been able to previously camp, because people searching through the house you're in would no longer be able to peek rooms without going into those rooms. In third person, the best place to camp inside a house is behind a closed door. In first person, you're free to camp behind any corner.

What this does change is one's ability to hold up in a house and remain aware of approaching enemies. This enables the risk vs reward of looking out a window, and approaching enemies being capable of seeing that you're looking out that window.

This allows a streamer or someone else complaining about campers or third-person to scout out a potentially unoccupied town and more accurately tell if it's occupied or not, rather than getting shot at by someone who could see them, but couldn't be seen by the one complaining.

Hell, this too. In third-person, you can open doors and still peek into the room without actually going into it. Can't do that in first-person.

I picked this up today per a friend's recommendation. So far I love it and have had a lot of laughs playing.

Definitely worth the price of admission.

I really don't know why anyone would want to play primarily in FP. It feels AWFUL in this. One of the worst feeling FPS in recent memories.

I don't like third person and being able to get information without poking your head out like in other games. Being on the defense already has an inherent advantage and getting free information on exactly where the attacker is coming from is too much. I also don't like the idea of splitting the community though.

Going on the pubg reddit seeing too many posts about how all the casuals will stay with 3pp while the competetive people will go 1pp, am I not competetive just because I prefer third person view in games? Will any skillfully clips I upload in 3pp and post on that reddit now be down voted and get comments like "lol 3pp nothing skillfull"?

It just feels like the community is dividing a bit and the 1pp people has no qualms about being arseholes about how 1pp will fix all problems in the game (spoilers:it won't fix all problems but you might prefer the mode more news at 11) and show how much better they really are at the game even though they also "abuse" 3pp at the moment.

Also don't get me started on streamers needing something to blame every time they get killed.
