PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

So I'm watching...딩셉션 (dingception), and the way he plays would INFURIATE western streamers. He hangs around the edge of the map, he avoids conflict, and he pretty much waits till eh circle minimized until he gets into actions. It's a legit way to play, but it's funny watching someone like him and comparing to DrDisrespect for example.

edit: also he punches out windows like I do so he gets points

That is actually a very good strategy.

Yeah.

Right off the point, the plane is flying...NE, and he gets in a car, and goes ALL the way NW to the town in that corner, loots it, then he waits till the circle started to contract until he made his way ALL the way east(The circle ended up over Latvka/the east most city), and all this time he's simply been playing near the circle, never going further into the middle then he needed to be.

This same game I've been watching he's top 6. So it's a strat that works.

edit-top 3. He's had a car this whole time and it's served him pretty well.

Won my first match ever and it was a solo match. Only 4 kills. Ran with a silenced UMP and an overunder at the end.

For the most part, this is my strategy. I get enough stuff that I can basically sit tight and let everyone else fight it out, for the most part. I really start to get engaged near the end (of course) because I have to.

I dont think i really grasp this games shooting mechanics well. Is it just me or does it just not feel good to ads like, say, battlefield?

It's probably just me not being that great with a mouse.

On console, with a controller, I am a 2-3 kd ratio in battlefield style games. On pc I potato like crazy sometimes, and shoot lasers others. My mouse play just feels so damn bad compared to the feeling of console shooters.

In pubg I can out position and still lose the fight. It's kind of maddening.

That is actually a very good strategy.

For winning, yeah, not for enjoying anything other than the last 5m of a round though.

It is one of the reasons streamers say they don't care about leaderboards. The most effective strats for climbing are also the most boring.

I think this is one of the games, where headphones are a must ... with just speakers, you never know where is the enemy or incoming ones..

I have a pretty good 2.1 system(Swan M50) and an Asus Xonar Essence soundcard, and I don't have an issue with hearing where shots are coming from. I do use "Sound Volume Normalization" to boost the sound of footsteps, although it does increase other ambient sounds as well like the wind and ocean.

It's amusing how some streamers like Grimmz act all high and mighty about how the way they play is the "right" way and everyone else who isn't aggressive is a dirty camping fuckboi and ruin the game for everyone else, then he'll complain when he goes out of his way to chase players down and gets killed out in the open, or lands at the school 5 games in a row and gets killed by the first or second person he encounters.

I really hope the devs don't listen to his "constructive" criticism about how he thinks campers are ruining the game. People should be able to play however they fuck they want.

Alright, so I'm finally going to buy this after watching so many streams of people having fun.
Is there any consensus on which stat tracking websites are the most heavily used? I may as well sign up prior to playing my first match to watch my stats fluctuate over time.

Some play to win.

Some are playing as their source of income.

Different strokes for folks =p

I just had a good idea.

It's already in the game but-

Instead of a circle, have an announcement of different quadrants being 'red zones' in that you will die if you're within in. Blue Spontaneous Squares, if you will.

That would eliminate camping(Mostly.) As the game goes on, the squares activate faster and faster.
Just go full battle royale at this point.

And yet he'll say everyone is entitled to their playstyle lol. I think he's just venting due to the pressure of pleasing an audience.

At this point I have no doubt people will create custom game modes like what you're suggesting. Hell, even an actual Battle Royale mod where you're wearing a necklace and your head explodes if you're in one of the "danger zones" when the timer runs out. The possibilities really are endless.

And yet he'll say everyone is entitled to their playstyle lol. I think he's just venting due to the pressure of pleasing an audience.

Yeah well that's true too. I'd hate to feel I had to play this game a certain way just to please viewers or whatever, especially when you play it 12 hours a day.

My brother and I are playing with Twitch right now lmao

edit: the bot outlived us all

we tried to surround it to force it to heal

it started beating us up lmao

Ok bought the game last night. Ended up playing it till past midnight.

Game is good, can get so tense at times. Came 4th in my second ever game too which felt pretty damn good!

Damn I can't wait for those to come out. It's doubly frustrating to play since we know they're working on that and seeing how cool it's gonna be.

Also really hope they're gonna improve the FPS view, cause it's really jittery and plain janky right now.

Have they ever said when we should expect these new animations ?

They did say for next week's patch they are reworking the 1st person view entirely.

I took a buggy into the bunker tunnels and it was great!

Also buggies can climb the stairs in warehouses but you can't quite make it turn around and get onto the walkways.

Oh to go with the 1st person view servers ! I missed that, makes sense. That's cool then !

Yeah better have rock solid 1st person view in preparation of those new anims, cause therwise it would only exacerbate the jankyness of it.

Got another chicken dinner last night in squad with two of my friends. Circle was obviously going to land on the military base so we got over the bridge asap and looted the town on the island.

All 3 of us had a K98 and a 8x scope, so we got up on the ridge and the circle basically followed us, plenty of sniper battles and close calls.

This is how I play!

I tried mixing it up when I started streaming and it was fail central lol

This game is so fun to watch (and I guess play)

Never understood the appeal of twitch before but damn Im whatching for hours now every day

Wish I had a pc to play this. As a ps4 user I guess I have to wait, would love get a scorpio for this. But feels like the game would be soo hard with a controller instead of mouse

GOTY hope it continue to be as successful

What specs does your pc have?

Am playing it with a almost 4 years old R9 290.

I'm really getting bored of the game now, it's not even the bugs, the desyncs and the lag that get me anymore it's just the fact that I realize there's no sense of progression.
I've been playing this for months and I could go on games where every shot feels good, you get hunted, you hunt, it's all fun, etc... and other runs where it's just death after death of stupid things with just random circumstances and where any shot you take deosn't feel right.

I like the random nature of the game (players can be everywhere, the loot, the circle) but I honestly can't say wheter I'm playing better after months of play or not (I actually was getting more chicken dinners 2 months ago).

There was a time where I played BF1 daily and I could hit long distance sniper shots, I was getting used to the feel of the weapons on each class, you can feel you get better, I go back to it now and you know you lost some skill. With PUBG I don't get that, I can pop into a game and I do just fine or everything goes wrong, sometimes terribly wrong lol.

Yep, that's PUBG alright, how it goes for me too lol

I have seen several demonstrations of animations, but I don't seem to remember an ETA on these? Are they merely ideas they are throwing out or are they intended for the full release?

All this animation stuff they have shown has no ETA.

I imagine reason being that getting hitboxes to properly sync up with models and keep the sync during fancy leaps, rolls and falls over networked PvP experience is tad difficult. To this day BF games struggle with that stuff and vaulting can render you invulnerable.

You get a lot of MMR from a win. I went to a different server after hundreds of hours on NA and got a win my first game. Part is definitely luck, but you do start getting matched against better players pretty quickly.

I've got an issue with memory leak.
PUBG seems to pile on RAM usage every time i open up the inventory, until it goes sloggy after a few minutes.
The game also freezes for a sec or two every time i open up the inventory, which makes looting annoying.
Anyone else also have this problem and managed to fix it?
