PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

I'm amazed noone picked you off earlier...flat terrain like that is easy pickings.
Yeah I wasn't expecting to do so good but didn't care, I had no armor and not a lot of loot, I would've lost and multiple people I knew had snipers with scopes, I didn't want to try the slow creep up to get sniped again.

I should've had it though in the end since it worked so well.

omg! winner winner chicken dinner after 5 or 6 games! so good! i need to find some eu, maybe italian to play with. what im understanding is that looting is not much important: if u have what u need to survive just surive and kill when its good to kill. sometimes i even dont kill someone near me. we need some kind of replay...i want to study this game and i think its lost forever!

Setting up bridge ambushes is addictive.

I play Duos with my partner and creating / defending a bridge-barricade is almost always incredible.

My friend had an idea I liked of having a post game screen that "followed" your footsteps, maybe even indicated somehow when you were within a certain distance of an enemy (and typical stuff like shot taken, kills from, etc).

Some sort of post match analysis view like this would be incredible. Not sure if all this stuff is logged, and it might have to be a bit rough and ready, but it'd be fun to see.

Solo victory.

Was so lucky, thiee people in a triangle and the third guy spotted me and opened fire (missing) and the second guy lite him up, showed me his position and I lite him up. Pure luck.

Won our first squad the other day, haven't been playing much so happy with that.

Will have to try to get online this weekend, game is hella fun but I don't really like to play it on my own now. There's always someone that kills me from nowhere and I jump out of my chair every single time haha.

Here's what I was crying about. Enjoy. At least I gave that guy a fantastic end he'll remember forever.

Dude you played really well. That was great. My only suggestion would have been to go prone once you were out of the car and clear, give yourself a moment and confuse him. But yeah, that probably wouldn't have helped.

I will say, however, that I really enjoy the in-and-out flow of the game, there's not a lot of waiting between matches, anything like that I'd hope wouldn't extend the time between games.

This sounds incredible.

From what I can tell this game depends a lot on sound for detection, so how mandatory is it that you use headphones to do well? Currently only got a normal Stereo speaker setup, combine that with a 2 year old and a gf who watches tv in the same room and I'm uncertain how much I'll be able to enjoy the game. It does look fun though.

You definitely want headphones if you want any chance of winning and a mic if you're playing squads.

Edit: GMG code

For anyone on the fence.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I was on the fence about buying this but this code pushed me over the edge, also managed to convince a few friends to use it too!

I wish this game had some sort of tutorial. I'm enjoying it so far but I can imagine the lack of information will put some people off.

Got my first dinner last night. Last 3 kills came under 10 remaining. I swear I only survived because I had lvl 2 helmet and vest, #2 actually had the drop on me but I assume had to reload.

Is there a post in here or a good place to read up on the Game Informer news?
Only heard bits and pieces about the two other maps and how one seems to be a desert...
Anything else they talked about?

Will there be a huge city map? Would love to have all team fighting between buildings only. And higher buildings at that whith at least 5 stories.

I'm thinking about picking this up, did people just a random email from GMG for a discount code or is there a way to get one from them?

Man I can almost make the controller work. The top pick from the community for controller mapping works well enough, but the turning on the right stick is abysmally slow. I wish I just didn't fumble with keyboard so much.

Have you tried steam controller? It has a large learning curve coming from a normal controller but it's truly great and the only thing that can compete with keyboard and mouse players. Literally, I've played hundreds of hours of Rainbow Six Siege with it and do very very well, no one even notices I'm not on mouse and keyboard pretty much all of the time. I've played like 60 hours of Battlegrounds with it and it works very well. I'm still tweaking towards perfection with sensitivities but most of my deaths in this game are me making wrong choices, not my controls. I've won plenty of shootouts after learning the guns.

I do well with keyboard and mouse but I adore the controller for shooters and most of my games that I prefer it.

Got my first Dual win last night with my brother. Got 7 kills. It was so intense. Ended on a beach, so it was all very open with 6 people left. Nuts.

I've held off for the longest time...think I might have to bite. Thanks.

The loot has been shit for me ever since they rolled back the 'fix'. I've had several consecutive games now where I've searched through several houses/buildings and come out with an uzi.

Yeah same. I've really not noticed a difference, loot was way more abundant before the bug happened

What happens when you die? You just go back to the main menu and you can find a new game? Or do you have to wait for the game to end?

If playing with a team you can spectate them. If playing solo you just exit to the lobby and can search for a new game right away.

You can actually quit a game at any time with no penalty as well.

Which is actually a really awesome design aspect and I feel a very strong concept in making this game stick and feel so addictive. The large number of players and lack of ranking or penalizing makes it feel like quitting isn't a big deal so if you're having a bad match, or just need to quit for any reason you can just jump out and jump into another one asap with zero penalty, and it's such a quick process too. Really great way to do it I feel.

There are no "UK" servers. Do you mean EU? I've actually only have lag once where the server crapped out eventually. Other than that, I've never experienced any issues on EU.

I meant UK servers as in "the servers UK players default to", CPT Pedant.

With the voucher and cheaper price on GMG, is it still worth buying at $24 even if I play by myself?

Personally I don't like to play this game alone, but I know most of friends do.

what I'd recommend is :

Buy the game on Steam and play a match or two(make sure to stay under 2hrs played) and then refund. If you like it, buy it on GMG and if you don't, do nothing :).

I would say so, Solo Queue has a unique feel and tension all it's own. I love playing both solo and squad.

Additionally, in solo, there's no pressure of screwing it up for your team :)

Solo queue is a lot of fun, but probably more stressful than group queue. Also more rewarding when you can climb that mountaintop and be first out of 100 players.

Awesome. Thank you for all the info. I may really grab it then.
