New maps would be cool down the line, but I hope it's not a big focus for them right now. There's so much basic shit to iron out before they start jumping on huge new features.

The map in that picture is a city map?

Yeah I'm excited for new maps but I'd prefer they polish the shit out of the game on this map first. I would like them to add all kinds of different times of day and weather effects on the first map to make it feel different ( Snow please!) , then move on to completely new maps.

On new maps though since they're doing them, with that one being desert themed it sounds cool. Hope the next one is either Tropical with jungle or Freezing Snow area with some ice caves.

I was hoping they'd stick with just one map. I'm against anything that has the chance to fragment the player base.

I hope its just random which map you play in matchmaking. That way theres no fragmentation and more variety

They have a hard enough time maintaining performance with only a few trees around, a jungle will run like shit.

A proper mountain range would be cool imo

I'm glad one of the next maps is a desert as that's what I wanted, but I really want them to iron out basic things and small nuances before adding more maps and features. I'm okay with a new weapon here and there and balancing the loot and stuff, but I want them to put people outside the circle at a disadvantage and fix where the circle will close in on. I also want penetration, optimization less desync and lag and stuff like that. Sometimes I still have to press F twice to open a door or enter a vehicle.

The people fixing issues and the people making new maps are most likely different people unless the team is made out of like... 5 people. I can't wait for new maps, at least one. Not interested in too many, but having maybe 3 large maps that include many different elements will be great for not getting tired of the game (not that I'm tired now, but maybe after hundreds of hours...?)

RNG Maps wouldn't really fragment anything. Hit play and it autojoins you into one of three maps.

They've got other modes in the works so that would be what likely fragments things.

I just hope they stick to a good number of maps/content/features/etc. so they can release the game as a complete package rather than adding new shit every month and never really finishing the game.

What do you do to get better performance? on i5 6600k and 970 and it doesnt run at 60fps on medium.

Edit: Never mind, it didn't take over the settings, will try again.

Let me save you some time,

switch shit to low.

I have AA and Post Processing at Very Low. Draw Distance at high and everything else at medium.

i7-5820K and GTX 1080 over here.

So is this the new DayZ? How does it compare?

By being basically nothing alike? Looting guns and meds is only similarity.

In BG you have 100-ish players who paradrop from plain to the island. After you land you scavenge through buildings for some guns, armor and meds. After that you head out and start hunting down others. Playable area is defined by white circle on the map and blue barrier enforces it. If you are outside of blue barrier / white circle you are going to die as it deals damage to you.

Goal is to be last man / team standing. When you die it's back to main menu and into new game.

Also BG, even with its performance issues, runs a lot better than DayZ.

Why isn't there a Star Wars RPG? And wouldn't James Bond make for a pretty good FPS?

Make sure to use these launch options:

-maxMem=5000 -malloc=system -force-feature-level-11-0 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -d3d10

Got a massive fps boost because of that

Do you use those currently on latest patch? Have a friend who's on gtx 770 and needs the game to run better.

Last time I played was two days ago, dunno if a new patch arrived since then. But yeah, I don't know what some of these options are for but they definitely helped with the performance

I doubt it'll fragment anything. Map gets chosen at random when matchmaking I'd imagine. More variety is always a good thing.

Its dayz minus zombies plus enforced pvp.

The circle mechanic makes you engage at some point, where dayz people can avoid each other indefinitely as its not focused on pvp in this way.

Its like better parts of dayz pvp condensed into 20 minutes snacks.

Yo, I want to try this out but I'm worried my machine might not be able to run it optimally, I was thinking of just buying it, trying it out, and applying for a refund via Steam if its not great, I don't play a ton of PC games so I've never tried refunding anything, is it a fairly reliable system? Oh, and would you consider the game very demanding on your hardware?
While I'm here I should ask, what's really different between this and H1Z1, I've played some of that, and it's a neat concept, although a tad under-cooked in spots, this looks ridiculously similar on face value.

The refund system works well and is painless

Nope, not with the new renderer that was released. I was pulling anywhere from 80-120fps in DayZ after the renderer came out. I can still drop below 60 in some cases with PUBG.

There are literally no survival mechanics in PUBG. It's nothing like DayZ. It's mechanically similar to ARMA 2/3. That's it.

Biggest difference is in gameplay and speed of it. BG is more authentic, leans towards ArmA's, and encourages more patient, slower and tactical gameplay. Firefights are fast and short as people die for just few hits where in H1Z1 you can dump mag after mag into someone as they keep pulling fresh armor out of their ass.

If you're having trouble tracking players I suggest turning down your sensitivity by quite a lot. This ain't no twitch shooter :)

What DPI and sensitivity do you guys run with? It helped a lot when I turned my DPI down from 1600 to 800. I also has the aim settings from 35 (aim) to 25 (15x), and 50 while walking/running.

I haven't played the game but I would of thought new maps would be good but you roll them into the servers so you randomly play on 1 of 3 maps etc. Same way Rain is handled on the servers.

That is as long as the maps play in a somewhat similar way but these new maps may be designed for different game modes etc.

If it's paid dlc sure, but if it's free the game really needs more maps.

Right now the game looks like great fun but it also looks like nearly every other 'zombie' survival game out there, they need to make the game feel more special and unique.

Looking forward to kill-cam in solo, because I seem to never learn what to look for. 90% i get killed not knowing where the hell the player is.

There is no bullet penetration yet, correct. Either insane desync (it happens) or cheater.

really? so that bastard who shot me while i has hiding in a shack was cheating? bastard had me convinced there was bullet penetration. i was shooting at walls for nothing!!

If you don't know where someone is it's likely because they're using a silencer or flash hider. It makes a massive difference when you're shooting at people even at mid range. I think the kill cam will just surprise you at how obviously close to you they were and won't reveal any secret super-awesome hiding places.
