PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Damn, had the 25% code successfully applied but didn't complete the transaction. Spent a couple of hours watching GB play it which convinced me to go for it, and now my cart expired and the code isn't accepted anymore :/

£20 is worth a punt, £27 makes me pause

There's a 30% off code in this thread not so long back.

My buddy gifted me a copy of this on Steam.

So far I've done 2 solo matches. I made it to 14 and walked right into a guy near a rock. He was right in front of me AND I had the drop on him. All I could do was laugh.

The tension when playing by yourself is incredible!

We also did a few squad matches with another friend and got rolled hard.

Updated drivers

Reinstalled to SSD

Disable Steam Overlay

Still getting crashes about 50% of the time. Seems totally random when they happen. Super sucks.

Overall I'm happy with the performance too, on my i5 4690k, 980Ti and 16 Gb RAM, I can run it on ultra at around 60FPS at 1080p, it does drop frames when parachuting in down to mid 30's but mostly it's acceptable in gameplay.

Tried a few recent Ines and they weren't accepted (UK)

Damn that sucks, I tried the latest 25% off code from this thread about 6pm UK time and that one was working.

Can other players hear you changing between standing, crouching, and prone?

It makes a noise for me as the person doing it, but is it like footsteps where other people hear it?

Anyone have an En Masse account? I went to sign up, and it wouldn't let me. I wanted to report a player for having an incredibly distasteful and insulting to a particular race for a name... disgusting. Anyway, whoever does, shoot me a message on here. Thanks.

Only got the game and playing about an hour ago and got to 5th place in a Duo game when my teammate died right at the start. Didn't think I'd win after losing the teammate but didn't think i'd get that far either, especially not so soon!

Not being able to properly communicate with teammates really makes it harder, would anyone in EU/UK want to play this with me? None of my Steam friends have it really.

I did the same thing yesterday. I applied the code that Tovarisc posted a few pages back and it worked, but I was still on the fence so I held off. Now after watching a few streams I'm ready to jump in and no codes posted here work for me at all...savage.

I don't know if he was a hacker or what but I got down to 2 people left. Me and one other dude. The circle was incredibly tiny...

Yet I couldn't find him. No matter where I looked I couldn't find him. Even after the barrier began to shrink to it's smallest possible, I ran out and got shot from no discernable point and then died... I never once saw him and somehow he was able to fire from behind the barrier at that point. There was no where to hide.

What the fuck?

Ugh. Was doing good in another match and then I die to, again, someone I can't see. I knew where they were shooting me from and even then I couldn't see them. I was lower elevation from them but at such an angle that they should have had no sight on me. Guess I was wrong.

So frustrating.

This is a regular occurance and it is why so many people in this thread have been asking for a kill cam.

What good would a kill cam do though? Why does it matter which direction you got shot from?

Well it's just nice to see cause it can feel like bullshit sometimes.

Or like me where I just got One shot killed... with a Vector and Level 3 body armor and level 2 helmet. Not even a headshot. He killed me instantly in the back. Didn't even hear or see my health rapidly deplete. I went from full health to 0 in half a second.

I would quite like to see how that happened.

I hate when I'm riding I someone's car and their first instinct upon seeing people is to try and drive into them. It never works and is a great way to lose us the game.

He was able to sneak up and shoot you point blank with one of the highest damaging SMGs in the game right now? I mean, I'm all for killcam in solo but it won't really help much after death, more just a way of catching cheaters I guess.

Just got into the top 3 of a game. I felt like I played it absolutely perfectly until the last second when I found myself stuck between the two other players.

Finally feeling confident in my combat abilities, which is nice.

A chicken dinner is coming to me soon, I hope.

I've said this before, but for me it's not so much about what the other player is doing as it sometimes is what I am doing and I don't realize it. I can think that I'm moving in a way that is very hidden and undetectable, but if I see it from an outside angle maybe I'm doing something that makes me stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm not sure what's with the strong opinions for it not being in solo mode, really.

It is absolutely infuriating when you outsmart an opponent in the Top 10, hit them with the Saiga once, and then your shotgun doesn't fire again even when you're clicking, for no reason and somehow they kill you with a single Vector shot despite having a Level 2 vest and Level 3 helmet. That is absolutely the server being shit.

Well it wasn't point blank cause he wasn't directly behind me but there wasn't the sound of a a full clip going off, just a single shot.

So maybe the Vector needs nerfed?

Nah, the Vector is fine; it's not quite as deadly as the shotguns at close range, but it's more versatile.

I am 100% cursed to always choke in the worst way possible.

Final 3, I see at one of the two other guys and hit him a couple times with silenced AKM shots while hidden in a bush, I'm craning around looking for the other guy since I'm right on the edge of the circle while also leaning to watch for the guy I hit.

And then for the first time in over 50 hours of gameplay, I somehow press A instead of Q, accidentally sidestep out of the bush for a second before I pop back in, and the other guy turns out to be in the single spot behind me I couldn't see, completely ignorant of my existence until that moment.

Jesus fucking Christ, what god or demon did I piss off to hate me this much

My steam name is just RED.
I literally just uploaded my new settings to the community so idk if it'll show up yet. It is the one called Battlegrounds Updated Config by RED.

Let me know if it works for you. Be warned, in other games people have thought my sensitivities are too high but I've used the controller so much I'm used to it and my goal is to be able to react as close to the speed kb/m do as I can.

I think bushes are still good long distance for the most part. Grass after 75 meters I think is not visible even to people on Ultra so is not safe. Definitely don't prone in grass if you expect anyone far away to be looking your way.

Are you playing with a controler then? I thought it only supported m/kb

Watching some streams, first person/ADS seems like it'd be annoying in grass as the textures seem to get in the way a lot.?

Also any new gmg codes for today would be very welcome :)

Most of the time i feel like it is not worth it to fight and kiill someone so my games are so slow untill there are ~20 player alive and even at that point sometime i see someone but i prefet to not shoot. I think they should give more money for kill or ill just camp and let others kill themself till the end

This is my tactic so far whilst I'm learning the ropes.

I like to watch from afar and see what's going on.

In Solo it can be pretty effective, I've driven over lots of people.

But yeah, in coop it's a lots more risky due to the increased firepower against you.

Only got the game yesterday but in a duo most of what i did was hiding. My teammate got killed in the first few minutes, i had no weapons and saw the two other well-armed players who had got him right next to me, so i ended up just staying still for about 10 minutes until i knew they were gone. After that my next encounter involved me hiding in a bush while someone tried to snipe someone in the building right next to me, the two players inside didn't notice me when they ran out of the building to go after the other player. Because of that i managed to sneak up on them all and take out the 4 of them that were there before they noticed me. Was surprised i got to 5th place in a duo game without a teammate. Hiding and not attacking other players definitely seems like it can be a good way to play sometimes.

I did something similar in solo yesterday, I had and AK with a silencer and was able to sneak up on all the other players engaging each other and take out the survivor.

Silencers seem the way forward.
