PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Bought the game today. It's fun but my performance is abysmal. Have medium settings and my framerate ranges from 15-30. My PC has 8GB, a 970 and an i5-2500.

That's a CPU problem. I have the same as you but a 6600k and I play with textures on Ultra everything else on low and its near 60 once on the ground. Might dip a little bit driving at times or entering a big town for the first time but thats it.

Fucking hell I'm never gonna get a win in this game. #2 so many times and no matter how many bullets i put into the last guy I still lose. I feel cursed with these finishes.

The game is really strange in regards to performance.

I have an i5 6600 and a gtx970

I've locked it to 60fps and the only time it drops is when I'm dropping in or if I'm driving about. I have occasional hitches but nothing too bad.
Most of my settings are at high

Was having a lot of issues with tslgame.exe error & crashing last night. Tried verifying the files & running steam/battlegrounds as administrator.

I find remembering to aim low when under 100m even more important. :p

Yes, you can change it with pg up / pg dn while scoped.

As much as this is really cool i don't feel like it adds anything to the gameplay. Feels like a hangover from ArmA 3. This doesn't need to be a milsim.

I feel that way about quite a lot of this game's systems. Of course it's good to have depth and clearly it's fun as hell anyway but the game would lose very little from some streamlining.

Maybe with a proper tutorial my complaints will subside.

Got damn lucky with a starting point and got four quick kills. Got a fifth kill right near the end but ended up walking out into the open and getting sniped. 25th is my best result without pure camping by far.

It just need a firing range to test all the weapons. Maybe with a "training course" too.

If you hit the V key you go into FP. Feels weird though. FOV is off or something.

Oh i know I can go into FPS mode, but it doesn't stop other people seeing me around corners and over walls without ever showing themselves. Makes the game really boring to me. so I'll wait until a FPS only mode, if it ever comes :)

Got second in my third match without firing a single shot and killing anyone. Could've gone first if I shot sooner but I don't know the range of the shotgun yet. If I had won I probably would've never touched it again because it only goes down from there.

what is the usage on the cpu when you play? you should be fine with that gpu since youtube videos show a 950 hitting 30-60 with mixed settings.

Definitely cpu is lacking. This game is horrendously optimized and super heavy on the cpu. I have an i5 4590 and I get 20 fps in the plane and anywhere from 35 to 80 in the field. Gpu usage is minimal while cpu is nearly always maxed.

Time to upgrade that cpu.

Thanks for the answers. New CPU is out of the question since I don't have the money for it currently. Might try a new cooler and thermal paste since I think I trashed that the last time when I opened my PC for cleaning.

Technically already possible in custom games, just need to find one since the public can't start them ourselves yet

Lag in this game can be infuriating, 3 games in a row now where I die because servers are wonky. First game I was in the middle of a super small circle with only 5 others, wanted to sneak up on the other guy in the house with my ump. Open the door and start shooting into the guy full auto, no hits register, my guy turns around instantly for no reason and I'm killed half a second later by a single AKM shot (none headshot). Ended up 6th, but it could easily have been a chicken dinner. Last match 2 of my 3 shots with the shotgun went right through the guy without registering any hits. Going to try the NA Servers.

Do you have an i5 2500k or regular 2500? If it's a k you should try overclocking. I overclocked my i5 4670k for this game and actually noticed a significant improvement in performance.

i swear hackers have worked out how to become invulnerable to the blue circle.

Currently staring at the screen. I died at #6, about 5 minutes ago.

The circle is now incredibly small. So small you can't see it on the map. Yet two players are still playing. Watching each other, not fighting - both evidently well outside the blue circle.

Indeed, before i died, i caught wind of someone above me in a small building. Footsteps, doors opening. I left the building and hid, watching the building. The person never left.

I watched the blue field sweep over it. They still never left. I got shot in the back waiting for them to leave the building. They never did.

Still writing this, the game finally just finished. Not a single gunshot. Just ages of waiting then people died. Wtf???

I'm a little concerned they're talking about things like new maps and console releases when they haven't even optimised the game properly yet.
They can work on maps and optimization at the same time as it's done by different people. Pretty wild!

You can have people tweaking and fixing problems while also having another team of people developing new maps etc.

The game is going to need variety and considering nobody has tapped that console market yet it's probably a pretty big priority. The team consist of more than 3 people they can do more than 1 thing at a time and considering how frequent they have been doing work i have 0 reason to question anything it's already more stable than games that have been in early access for 1-2+ years.

I lit a molotov ane accidentally put it back in my pocket to shoot someone. I self-immolated.

Is there any tricks to throwing or was I just a victim to the game's lag? That game had some really laggy times.

Wait, you can actually self-immolate? Holy fuck I'm going to run through a major town on fire yelling shit.

Maybe they were using all of their med kits to stay alive
