PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Made it to the final 2, but I slipped up. Rushed him out of anxiety and missed all but one shot. Had him in my sights the entire time, but I got antsy!

Such an awesome game. Haven't felt like this since the early DayZ mod days.

Got screwed out of a win last night because the guy was taking zero damage through a wooden picket style fence. Wasn't a tall fence or anything either, one that you could hop over for example.

Entire extended clip from an AK but zero bullets registered on him and just chopped away at the fence. Even if it was hitting the timber surely it should break or penetrate enough that it damages people.

Feel like I've had similar situations with the railing etc around stair cases. Even though there is large gaps it feels like all bullets just hit the railing.

Bullets don't penetrate. They can only break material and make openings for your to shoot through. It works on doors, but I don't think I've seen fences break apart.

I know that, I am saying they should. But it also appeared as if the hitbox for the fence was so large that I literally could not hit the person, even though there was plenty of gaps in the fence that I was trying to shoot through.

Hell there's even some bushes that are impervious to bullets. It can definitely be a bummer if you lose because of that, but it can also lead to some funny situations - I watched two guys empty their magazines at each other shooting at some branches that were between them.

Well, figured I'd give it a try (mostly because I had really bad luck with the loot):

I'm a believer now. Usually I've tossed the shotties aside once I've found assault or sniper rifles, but no more. Shotguns rock!

I've been conditioned by other games to not use shotguns at ranges like that. Apparently I've been missing out on shotgun fights at ranges like that (out in the open).

Got my first chicken dinner.
Definitely didn't earn it though.

I didn't even kill the last guy, he died because he went outside the play area :(

Had a bunch of really bad rounds yesterday (sleep deprivation had me doing some really stupid shit), had a really good aggressive top 10 round today where my UMP got me a good number of kills.

I died in a pretty great way too: I saw a bush to pause in, raised my UMP in suspicion since it almost looked a bit weird, then 10 feet away from it I got headshot and a guy in a ghillie suit popped out.

I knew they were in the game, I've seen them in videos, but it was the first time I've ever seen one in-game. I wasn't even upset or anything, it was actually really cool seeing him emerge.

Snipe at a guy while on the bridge, blow out one of his buggy's tires, he's stuck in the bus stop, we're staring each other down as he peeks out, I circle around below the coastline ridge for minutes and wait behind the gas station even as the blue hits me...

I finally run up to take him out... and he's gone.

I feel like an idiot and jump into the crippled buggy, only to flip it less than halfway to the edge of the blue. I just barely make it to a boat just on the edge of the blue in time to a coastline and heal up, run into a house. The blue cuts up the entire house except for two front rooms. This is the messiest fucking game of my life. I am the stupidest and luckiest son of a bitch on the planet.

I take out a guy waiting next to a Dacia behind some cargo containers, literally right outside the window. I manage to dodge sniper fire without seeing where it's from, another guy (the shooter?) runs around the container and I take him down.

I hop in the Dacia after stuffing my face full of pills, the blue overtakes me immediately. I am one blip of blue away from death when I pop out of the car and heal up. I quickly realize that every tree and rock is taken by four other players. I have to go prone in a field.

I soon realize that the slopes of the field are actually super beneficial to me. It quickly comes down to three left. A grenade goes off near me, the guy to my left behind the tree clearly knows I'm there.

Suddenly more grenades go off: the guy to my right has engaged tree guy. I wait and wait, then see tree guy run out. The distance is long, but my UMP actually takes him out.

For the next solid minute and a half I wait as the remaining guy dips around. He cannot see me prone. I have an AK and 8x scope but I do not fucking dare pop up. I have to wait until he's in UMP range. He eventually circles back around to the right and he's there. Two or three hits to the chest and he's behind a tree. Still not sure if he knows where I am. Then he does.

I am shooting at him, seeing the puffs. I get hit and think, this is it. This is where I choke, again. But at least this was the most valiant effort yet.

The blue shrinks.

It hits him first. He hadn't healed from my shots earlier.

I finally did it. I finally won a round in this stupid janky ass early access beta game about naked men with frying pans on their asses LARPing as soldiers in dirty bathrooms

lost a duo just now 1v1, was ADS prone and stood up and the gun got stuck in ADS, couldn't run, reload, switch weapons or anything. Got second place, man that was infuriating.

So does this game have bullet drop in it? Is that why you should zero on the scopes?

I have the game since a week and haven't made it to the top ten once. Too scared to move much of the time.

Pro tip: Make your way to the centre of the circle as soon as possible when you have decent loot.

man this has been happening to me for ages, but it hasn't to any of my friends so I was thinking maybe it was just my PC or something

After 50 hours I still haven't decided whether I like going to the centre or sticking on the edge. In the centre you have to look 360 degrees, on the edge you run the risk of getting stuck between enemies and the blue circle.

Kind of wish this had more dense woods like arma BR. Everything feels so exposed in comparison. I guess I'll learn to cope.

just picked this game up today. I seem to be able to get in the top 20 pretty consistently but I've only made it into the top 5 once so far after about 5 hours of playing the game. I like this a whole lot more than DayZ and Hurtworld (the only two survival games I've played to date). I like how to the point this game feels compared to DayZ, yet it still has that solitary feeling you get from those kind of games. Definitely will keep playing.

My basic strategy sofar is pretty cheesy. I really like those single door shacks with the windows lining the top of each wall, I've discovered you can get a clear 360 degree view all around you in third person mode in those things, so what I like to do is find a vehicle, line it up on the road next to the shack door, and camp. If they come in the shack, I shoot and kill them, if they try to get in the car, I have line of sight ready for the car window. I can consistently get a kill with this each game, and when the play area moves I basically just move the car to the next shack and try again.

Group of friends and I got second place in one. Circle got down to about 30m wide, we were looking for the last guy, he popped up to shoot at us, I tried to shoot him, tagged him a few times, but he knocked me out. I crawled behind a tree and a friend was reviving me, but then he shot me again when I got up. He managed to kill me and one of my two remaining friends. The last one tried to get to him to shoot him in time, but he managed to shoot her first (I think her armor and helmet were weak to, which probably factored into it).

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Been playing for a bit but still a noob. Does zeroing a weapon actually help and any other tips for shooting/strategy?
Zeroing a weapon?

The first full-sized match I played, I finished 3rd.

I think I've cracked the top 10 maybe once in the week since? Some beginners luck bullshit right there.

I love the bump they added to that road for reason.
Also, level 1 helmet, no armor, shotgun and UMP is fully geared now?

Yeah not fully geared, but I found some stuff after having bad luck the first few games. And then this happened.

I can't wait for this game to be polished.

I am thinking on picking this up as it seems reasonably priced at 30 dollars. But how is the optimizations on it? I have an RX 480 with an i5 4690K would it run pretty well?

I'm on an i5 4570/RX 470 and it runs "well" on a mix of low and medium settings @1080p, I think you'll be okay.

The advantage over other that you get for playing on very low is crazy. I think it's a shame because the game look beautifull. Hopefully, the console version will solve this.

Those campers, 30 left, the guy is in a room of a house with plenty of loot untouched and he is in the last room you check with only a shotgun...
