Can't see me....
So, I was browsing around and found something that may get us fans jonesing in anticipation.
It looks like Jez Corden has also joined in saying that Sony has secured some major third party exclusives this time. And seems to be major stuff akin to the days of Final Fantasy, etc. and not just the ol' "Call of Duty maps and marketing" shtick.
This is in-line with what Imran Khan(I believe?) said a while back also. Exciting to see it, but I have to admit I'm not always the biggest fan of moneyhats.
Probably Rockstar anyway... at least Take Two or Activision. It's never going to be EA....GTAVI rumour again?
The craziest thing that people haven't realised yet for some reason is that it's not a 5.5GB/per second machine.Epic were right the storage is a generation ahead it can fetch whatever asset that is needed in a fraction of a second giving developers real freedom that we haven't seen before
Fuck! Have one of these pills, I want him back even if he smells worse:

It's it is when raw and that'll be handy for indie games. But no AAA is going to go uncompressed.
The machine is a 9GB to 22GB per second machine because the hardware has a custom Kraken decompression chip to go along with the Kraken compression software licence... That Sony are giving away to every developer. So basically everything can be Krakened from day which means a minimum of 9GB/s worth of data can be streamed off the SSD.
It might not just be about moneyhats. There were some rumours that certain publishers are not exactly excited at the prospect of the gamepass model getting too much traction and therefore see PlayStation as a natural place to market their games as PS Now is not being promoted as a place for new games to launch. So, I was browsing around and found something that may get us fans jonesing in anticipation.

Sony is throwing as much money at their AI Machine learning team as they can, the latest AI upscaling patent is an early result of that. Sony’s plan is likely to create something to rival DLSS or even surpass it, that would allow them to render most games internally at 1080p.So what do we think of the chances of PS5 combining a primitive form of DLSS using ML, with their Checkerboarding solution from PS4 pro? Would that give similar results to DLSS 2.0 alone ? Or would it be too costly in frametime ?
Yeah this is going to be where Fromsoft gamers will all collectively destroy themselves!Loading I'm really looking forward to. Such a big quality of experience thing. It also makes a lot of additional gameplay ideas like challenges feasible where a retry is much quicker. That before you even consider graphical options and cleverness.

I have decided to turn over a new leaf and be good from now on.
I haven't because part of the reason why Kraken can go up to 22GB/s from the normal 9GB/s is by supposedly by coding the textures with Oodle.Don't forget that they have Oodle Textures now so that's going to help as well.

Did anyone see the Konami tweets about Silent Hill?
Oodle Textures were made by Ready at Dawn (corrected as RAD Tools) who also make Kraken. It's just an encoding algorithm for textures that compress well with Kraken so can be decoded by the Kraken decompressor. I think it's part of the free Kraken licence from Sony but it just wasn't announced by name.I thought that information was given before they got Oodle Textures.
I still have never heard my PS4 Pro.
Maybe I'm just lucky?
I make my wife dust in the nude twice a day and fan my PS4 when it gets hot, maybe that's it?
Either you are half deaf or have noisy apartment, or both
Even switch is easy to hear from 2-4m away when docked, on normal quiet apartment(no aircon/traffic noises etc) and it is super quiet vs pro.
Unless you live in mansion and game from 10m / 30feet, it is kind of impossible to believe that you would not hear it, if apartment isnt noisy / hearing is normal.
Because it would mean that the console is max 20-30dB close by(under background noise levels) and that is hard to believe as most are measured around 50-70dB which is like tens/hundred time more than that
Of course if you have fan, noisy fan running next to it, it is hard to hear
You mean noise? Well I should mine being pretty silent as well.
it’ll come from the SH official account which is created last month.
Bit weird though....why create a new SH account? They wouldn't do it for DLC....They said it’s nothing and if there is news it’ll come from the SH official account which is created last month.
This is the first game showed on Xbox May event, is it a console launch exclusive?

Unless Sony paid for it, it doesn’t make since any more for 3rd party to release exclusive games. 1 year contract maybe.
Something or someone?Something tells me we are getting multiple Sony events over the next 6 weeks or so.

Edit: check this thread for more. I need to go through it better tbh.
Kraken benchmarks, perf analysis (with and without RDO). What PS5 hardware will be capable of.
https://cbloomrants.blogspot.com/2020/07/performance-of-various-compressors-on.html TL;DR Dataset 1 (Texture data BC1,3,4,5, and 7. Mix of diffuse, normals, etc.) Kraken ratio: 1.76:1 (PS5 perf will be: 5.5GB/sec * 1.76 = 9.68GB/sec) Kraken + RDO ratio: 3.13:1 (PS5 perf will be: 5.5GB/sec *...www.neogaf.com

Also the 'it would be announced at a conference or something' comment was strange..
An event the start of the month and another at the end of it?

I've got you
You know about San Diego, right?Or it's a Bloodborne situation? Pay tons of money to known devs to make an actual exclusive?
If most of your revenue is still coming from PS consoles anyway why not I'd say! And heck, they can even do a PC port straight away too, just not on team green!
----
Though I have to say, I'm also kinda hoping Sony created some new studios or added a second (or 3rd or 4th) team to existing studios so they can crank out more games. How awesome would it be if Sony announced that secretly they started to hire people for extra dev teams 3+ years ago so they could have a gigantic line up for the PS5 in the first few years alone!
Something or someone?
Hmmmm, was that something an source of some kind? Hmm?
I can imagine several too tho:
- state of play, more gameplay from known games and 3rd party games, PS5 patches for PS4 games
- hardware tear down
- Gamescom presentation with more new game announcements, pricing, OS, more info about BC, etc.
Any guesses on what Rand, Jez and Imran are hinting to? You think it's R* or something smaller?Have heard this from a few different people now and no I dont mean some of these Youtuber guys.

Yeah I was referring to them. Just my brain translates the name. But if you click on the page and go under Oodle. That's where you see Oodle Kraken because Kraken is part of the Oodle software package that includes Oodle TexturesEhh, it's made by RAD yes, but a different RAD than Ready at Dawn...
RAD Game Tools
RAD Game Tools' web page. RAD makes Bink Video, the Telemetry Performance Visualization System, and Oodle Data Compression - all popular video game middleware.www.radgametools.com
Would be cool to get an idea of the impact it could have...although they are in great shape anyway.I don't follow those guys so no clue whats even being said.
Curious though so might try to find what you are talking about.
So we'll be getting stuff on the next 8-10 days or so?State of Play early Aug going into games. Some sort of video digging deep into UI and other functions of the system not yet announced late Aug then tear down video early Sept.
Might swap those last event but timing would remain the same.
So we'll be getting stuff on the next 8-10 days or so?
I honestly don't think Sony or Microsoft have anything in their respective boxes that can do D.L.S.S. like reconstruction. Although, at least on the Sony end of things, considering how important checkerboard rendering was for PS4 Pro, I'm surprised they haven't talked about it for PS5. I mean, they must have improved checkerboard rendering for PS5, right? Is checkerboard rendering how Insomniac is reaching 60 frames on Spiderman? Maybe we'll find out.So what do we think of the chances of PS5 combining a primitive form of DLSS using ML, with their Checkerboarding solution from PS4 pro? Would that give similar results to DLSS 2.0 alone ? Or would it be too costly in frametime ?
