Considering Checkerboarding was developed to use crappy GCN2 cores with Jaguar cores and now we have new RDNA2 cores to go Zen2 cores in the PS5... I'm optimistic that they'll come up with something just as clever.I honestly don't think Sony or Microsoft have anything in their respective boxes that can do D.L.S.S. like reconstruction. Although, at least on the Sony end of things, considering how important checkerboard rendering was for PS4 Pro, I'm surprised they haven't talked about it for PS5. I mean, they must have improved checkerboard rendering for PS5, right? Is checkerboard rendering how Insomniac is reaching 60 frames on Spiderman? Maybe we'll find out.
Any guesses on what Rand, Jez and Imran are hinting to? You think it's R* or something smaller?
I'll try to find, gimme a few minutes...Do you have a link or time stamp for when Rand and Jez were talking about this?
P Ph0enixes | Aug 1, 2020 | Permanent | So you signed up to make five posts, lay dormant and report a post telling us to 'fuck off'. You, my little girl, is why humans evolved to have middle fingers. And we salute your goodbye with one! |
We've been keeping an eye on this thread the past few days. There really doesn't seem to be much merit in it existing any more. Hardly anything is on topic any more, people are posting any random tweets about game sales/general snippets of anythign design related, and despite many requests you still can't speak to each in a civil manner. Instead, preferring to just click the report button. We made this clear last time, sort out your own problems. If you are not going to self moderate by using the ignore feature or press down until a post you don't like disappears from the screen, then you are responsible for your own misery. And before anyone announces any 'conspiracy theories', we've had crying xbox fans and crying playstation fans reporting posts. And just to be clear, before the dramatisation is added, the number of xbox fans was slightly higher (but not significantly).
HeisenbergFX4 , any idea around which of these events the preorders may unlock? It can't possibly be September now.

Actually, this was the only game that really impressed me graphically during that event. Or.. Any of their events really. Very, very impressive for one person, shit.Ya know what's funny? That this game looks a lot better than Halo does and is made by 1 person instead of a team of 500!
So now I'm in this thread and without the fear of being brigaded I can be happy and excited about the PS5 and the custom tech?
That the thought of no loading is amazing because everything runs so fast from the SSD that from the moment you press start on a game in the home screen, it could possibly load you straight into the game, no booting or loading screens, just straight up into gameplay.
It's just hype to see games and developers use clever custom made hardware with specialised tools to offload all the design limitations from all CPU, GPU and RAM.
Now that decompression has its own chip as well as sound. How will developers use that spare power?
Now that the RAM doesn't have to store as much possibly unused assets or even the OS because the SSD is fast enough to load up stuff directly that isn't as essential to the immediate rendering, especially with the Geometry Engine and coprocessors dealing with maps and mesh and the SSD having the speed to provide the higher quality versions of assets up to 22GBs if coders know how to compress right.
And the GPU is now able to do more stuff with both RAM, because there's more of it to use with the lack of having to hold onto future assets, because it doesn't need to wait for the next batch of data from a slow HDD but also being directly able to access certain assets and textures directly from the SSD to render without going into RAM.
There's now just so much spare processing power and memory to use throughout, it's glorious!
I don't mean to be a tech head but when I, as a mere peon, can see that Sony are saying to develops "Here is a machine we've designed that makes all the tricks and short cuts you've had to create in game-making, like load screens and level designed corridors for asset switching in RAM are gone. These are no longer game design constraints. Go nuts!"
Because of that, I can see why developers are getting excited about the PS5's capabilities... I am as a gamer.
Assumes FF16 is exclusive, some first party returning franchise....
Just here, take a look at how insanely sharp the draw distance here, it's movie-like! This prove that PS Studios already use engines utilizing polygon budget per frame before Epic Games UE5 Nanite.
This even proves my point that they copied Sony, not the other way around:
Unreal Engine 5 Partially Rewritten Specifically for the PlayStation 5’s Super-Fast SSD
Will Unreal Engine 5 be able to do things on the PlayStation 5 it can't do elsewhere? It sounds like the answer is "yes"!wccftech.com
I liked the scene pulling scenes where instead of using travel time between distances to slowly load in the LOD from low to high as we get closer. It just loads in the player's playable radius version of the area which will be the highest fidelity interactive version but it gives the feeling of teleporting because it's so quick.Just here, take a look at how insanely sharp the draw distance here, it's movie-like! So clear. This is the geometry engine at work definitely. No evidence of VRS lowering the image quality
Please PLEASE be trueSomething tells me we are getting multiple Sony events over the next 6 weeks or so.
They defs have many more full and timed exclusives to announce.Silent Hill Reboot and Metal Gear Solid Reboot are strong candidates as PS5 exclusives. I expect Street Fighter VI to be exclusive too. Wouldn’t be surprised if Bully 2 or Max Payne 4 existed and it was timed exclusive.

The craziest thing that people haven't realised yet for some reason is that it's not a 5.5GB/per second machine.
It's it is when raw and that'll be handy for indie games. But no AAA is going to go uncompressed.
The machine is a 9GB to 22GB per second machine because the hardware has a custom Kraken decompression chip to go along with the Kraken compression software licence... That Sony are giving away to every developer. So basically everything can be Krakened from day 1 which means a minimum of 9GB/s worth of data can be streamed off the SSD.
All devs will get free use of the Mighty Kraken!
We can have one within two weeks, another in the middle of online Gamescom and the last on the first half of September. An event the start of the month and another at the end of it?
Nonsense! This is his apartment:
Remember Matt Harget said there are PS5 features not yet disclosed, a more advanced checkerboard technique could be one of them.I honestly don't think Sony or Microsoft have anything in their respective boxes that can do D.L.S.S. like reconstruction. That's ... weird. But then again, you have Ed Boon following (or at least watching the tweets of) thethiny, the guy who datamined almost everything MK11 wise.Silent Hill official account is now following Dusk Golem on Twitter (guy who first reported the Silent Hill reboot)
I've gone all nostalgic...Lol, that severely mimics the old PlayStation Home apartment design!
(just random picture of the apartment that I found)
Especially the earlier models had severe issues with noise. My Pro became really, really loud that I started to dislike playing with a passion. It had always been loud, right from the start but it became worse over time and it's placed with nothing around it and I cleaned it out every few weeks.
Last year I bought a new PC and it was more than capable to play many games at better settings than my Pro so I almost decided to go full PC and join the Veteran crowd! (haha, never that!). Then I decided "f this, I just buy a new one!", so I bought a new Pro late last year for not that much anyway, with a free game that I sold, blabla, this thing is whisper quiet! Even while playing the exact same games on my previous one!
Where with the old one I put the thing to sleep even when I took a short break to get some food in me due to the way too loud noise now I forget many a time the Pro is still on running a game. If you listen for it carefully you can hear it's on but you won't notice it when you don't know.
Currently my PC makes way, way more fan noise when running a demanding game than my new Pro does!
About time!! After 14 excruciating months(counting from the first Wired article) and the launch of PS4 last big exclusives, we deserve to feast in PS5 information.Something tells me we are getting multiple Sony events over the next 6 weeks or so.

Nah common sense. Lots of studios cooking stuff up both third and first party.Speculatory or you have some info?
Well, one thing is for sure, it can't be GTAVI. I never wrapped my head around that rumor; there's no way either Sony or Microsoft have a "blank enough" check to secure exclusivity for something like that.
I find it funny when people say PS5 games doesn't look next gen and they try to loop PS5 games in with the mediocre Xbox games. This looks like a painting. It looks a lot better than anything on the market at the moment with similar artstyles
That is surely not in-game? It can’t be.
If it is, I guess I’m buying a Rachet and Clank game. That is actually insane.
Is that... Antonio??? You glorious madman! The stars are beautiful tonight
Second Life was a big thing that time, he was just following the trend.PlayStation Home, lol. What the fuck was that about. Phil Harrison is one weird dude.

I remember actually investing time on that back when I first activated my PS3's online capabilities (was always an offline player up till that point with my consoles).PlayStation Home, lol. What the fuck was that about. Phil Harrison is one weird dude.
Did you say 'burnt out'?To be honest, I am feeling a little burnt out with all the waiting.
