Here's a link to OPM list of upcoming games...
CGI (you mean compressed animation files, right?) don't need to load. We've had streaming of them for many years. This is how, for example, TLOU (one) worked or Uncharted up to 3, or previous Ratchet and Clank game. It's old tech and devs mostly favour real-time renders in cutscenes now because of more consistent looks and file sizes. You can also have different characters (clothing, weapons) in those so it adds to the overall impression.I've had a thought and need a tech nerd to explain if it's possible.
Right, imagine if you will, a scene in a FPS game. Say, Cod. You're playing the game, in a firefight in a street, and your objective is to get to a truck waiting to extract you at the end of the street.
You do the usual thing of whack a moling the enemies.
As you reach the end of the street, you see the classic army style people carrier, with the rear flap down, waiting for you to jump on board.
You sprint towards it, press X or Square to jump in and as soon as you do a CGI cutscene is loaded, at near instant speed from the SSD.
It loads so quick and seemless on both the boarding and unboarding of the truck that the graphics are almost pixar like in quality.
If you can do that, would it be possible to change 'animations', like climbing in and out of a tank, and instead swap them for on the fly CGI quality cut scenes?
How about an open world game? Where the player is loaded in traditionally, with a small 'play space' around the character, while the rest of the world is CGI?
Custom I/O systems with integrated ultra-high-speed custom SSDs, for instance, can substantially reduce game load times, dramatically changing game experiences for users. The PS5 supports ray tracing technology to simplify the rendering process, a major burden for game creators. For ray tracing to be effective it must be fast, requiring not only superb hardware performance, but excellent software to make the most of the hardware. To draw the best from hardware performance, we are building data structures essential to faster ray tracing and developing libraries to offer game creators, whose voices we will be considering throughout the process.
Bo just take it easy mate. it doesnt matter if demon souls remake is running 1440p,4k or even 1080p the end results looks gorgeous at 60fps.Damn, truth might be stingy. I'm out of Spec thread until 10th of October. Don't believe the lies, mates.

Even if digital foundry made a mistake in counting the pixels it doesnt mean they are spreading fud. We can only wait.
At the end of the day people will buy what they think looks good to them.
We are Bos, and we are plenty.

Welcome back!
Welcome back Bo.
Y'all need to stop getting banned. Too many MVP's carrying them feelings on their hands, and not with their head. Gotta be smarter than that.
Also need to fix the little circle jerk on NXGen thread while the other boys "run" the main. Gotta get out of that damn cave and into the main.
Uh oh, forced time out of the next gen thread, gonna still be lurking around.
I think everyone can finally gather here from November 10th on, no more need to speculate on next gen as it will become current gen.No worries, this thread deserve more.

What games will be day 1 purchases for the folks here?Yup, and have our energy on the platform that matters.
My only hope is that DS4 is compatible with PS3.Neo Blaster It's Sony maybe not as you can only use DS4 only to play PS4 games

MM and DS, definitely. Complementary, I haven't played Days Gone nor Uncharted: Lost Legacy, decided to postpone because I believe PS Plus Collection games will have enhancements on PS5.What games will be day 1 purchases for the folks here?
Didn't you know you can use DS4 with PS3? Used it a lot to play there. Sony could definitely keep this trend with DualSense and PS4.DS4 is compatible with the PS4 LOL

If they can really release all the games we've heard about for the first year and ditch any other crossgen FP titles besides MM, HFW and Sackboy, I'm already satisfied.Anyone want to talk about what moves they would like to see PlayStation / Sony make in terms of strategy in the next year or so?
i.e. IP's, acquisitions, talent or expansions.... partnerships etc.
