It seems this is exactly what Sony is banking on, and correctly so. We might be witnessing the most spectacular reversals of two brands here.
I've never seen it in stores.

At least the event is only a few hours away. If it isn't there then it's almost certainly a PS4 game. If it is? Then...2016 isn't so far away.
Polyphony released GT PSP in 2009 and GT5 a year later
I'm sure they can do the same again.

They were also working on GT5 for a long time at that point. If this is GT6 PS3/Vita, then chances are that GT PS4 has barely entered any form of development other than car modeling.
It'd be better if they could actually convince Kaz to outsource that development.

A vast majority of GT6's car modeling is already complete. The premium cars were "future proof" when they were designed.
What makes you think GT will be at the Vita event at all?

I remember an interview with Kaz (PD Kaz) during the GT5 marketing. And he said that all the new car models and tracks were made to next-gen hardware standards, and then scaled back for PS3. To make them "Future-proof". (Said this in multiple interviews)
So I imagine GT6 on PS4 wouldn't take as long as GT5 did.

I can't see GT6 on Vita. Polyphony will just do a mix with GT4/5 content just like they did for GT PSP.
Boom.
I bet there will be a teaser announcement for it at E3, big reveal at TGS, and it'll be out next year.

GT PSP was more of a rush job in my opinion, to get it out in time with the Go. I mean, why would a game we knew about back in 2004 suddenly get some buzz five years later?

I saw a big display of Wonderbooks in WHSmiths, I think Smiths stopped selling games years ago but there it was.

I'm the same way. I like watching racing games because they're pretty but I don't enjoy them myself.

That's a relief! GT5's release was positioned in a way that it gave PD two years to work on GT6 for the PS4 before the console was even announced. They've never been in that position before. The PS2 was announced before GT2 was even released and the PS3 was announced 5 months after GT4's release. They could realistically have it out in the launch window as long as they don't have other things put on their schedule.

I don't think Uncharted 4 will be hitting until Fall 2014. ND likes to take time to learn new hardware. Evolution's racing game is a lock and Guerilla is going to be showing off something, either Killzone 4 or a new IP. I'm thinking that we may see something Metal Gear related too, although that's purely speculation.

Ah. Well I really hope we see something MGS related. New Ground Zeroes footage running on PS4 would be very nice.
That's exactly what I'm expecting, alongside it being a moneyhatted PS4 exclusive next gen version (still hitting PS3/360).

It should make it out pretty quickly. Kaz said that the wait for GT6 wouldn't be anything like GT5. Theyt were building systems that were going to be able to work over the course of generations instead of having to rebuild everything from scratch like they did for GT5. So a lot of stuff from GT5 will likely carry over into GT6 in an upgraded form. Like the cars and their weather system.

I suspect all of Sony's PS3 titles this year have an accompanying PS4 version sitting waiting for release. Seeing as proper BC seems like a no-go, it only makes sense to build for the future.

Beyond is the only one I think that may be possible for. GoW: A and Last of Us are coded down to the lowest levels of the Cell. It would be a massive undertaking to port them over.

It was really the biggest disappointment this gen. The PR for that game should be a chapter taught in graduate studies under how to fuck up your product.
