Is there a way to turn off that massive, ugly virtual d-pad in Adventure Bar Labyrinth? =x Couldn't see anything in the options.
It ultimately doesn't matter anyway; the game obviously was made for the size the screen is presented at, and the tap controls can actually be useful for turning direction (a bit faster than Square + DPad)
On to the actual game itself, I'm pretty impressed. For a freebie on PSM, the graphics look crisp and colorful (more rich than many PSP emulations, for example), and the little animations in battle are pretty nicely done (though could have cheaped out on many a thing.)
Even if it's (so far) miniscule, I'm happy to see it has some exploring of the town, deep dungeon exploration, and a cooking mini-game all included.
The Microtransaction model doesn't seem horrible either. You can use real money to buy crystals, which will let you buy storage expansions, weapons that you don't lose upon death in the dungeon, and basically any utility drop for on-demand purchase. The beginner dungeon made it appear that actual loot is plentiful, but I could see one wanting to spend for revives in deep dungeon runs.
But early impressions make it feel like you can get a pretty good amount of game here, without spending a dime.
There's also some selections in the option menu that seem to be for alt art or something... future purchases, or something one earns through gameplay?
All the in-dungeon systems work well, too; things are fairly intuitive, and swapping items with ones on the floor, tossing them as weapons, or drinking excess potions for permanent buffs for that run, are all welcome features that make life easier.
I was surprised when a random Dungeon Fungus "Sleep Locked" by by putting me to sleep on approach, hitting me twice, and then re-buffing sleep before it wore off... that's some wicked, crafty strategy, lol.
Will be a fun thing to play while waiting for
Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God to come on on Vita Proper.
