PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

I probably should have expected it seeing that it is idea factory and all, but it is somewhat amazing how low-rent the production value on monster monpiece.

At least the card battle system is surprisingly fun too.

I'm actually quite enjoying it, which surprises me as I had low expectations going in (not a fan of card games).

'Ello VitaGAF,
Like all great decisions in life after E3 2013 I got drunk and woke up having bought a Vita. Since then it's been my main console and I've been lurking VitaGAF. Now that I have an account I'm hoping to actually have some people to play games with so add me on PSN, Renpatsu.

I also make custom cover art for VIta games in my spare time (Click to see more of my work in the cover art thread).

Sweets covers.

Didn't realise that drinkbox is coming out with a new game either.

long shot on asking but any idea if the cloud syncing works with the western version? tempted to get it on vita and sell the code once i get FFX

I'm not sure but I'm going to say no. Saves are different between different regions so I don't think you would be able to interchange them. I could be wrong though.

Just started playing Digital Devil Saga. 15 minutes in and I have no idea what's going on. I dig the style and the tone (haven't even made it to a battle yet) but is it alright if I'm really totally ignorant of the 'lore' here?

I've played Persona stuff before, but never one of these SMT PS2 era games...cool that they released them on PSN

Welcome!

Nice covers! I like that you used Panopticon instead of Freedom Wars. Panopticon sound way cooler.

Those covers are awesome... welcome. If I had the money, I'd buy an empty Vita case for every great digital game I own and buy printed covers from you for all of them.

Of course! There's no contest and it's a damn shame that they changed it to something so bland.

I'm seriously contemplating buying boxes in bulk on ebay just because the cases are fun to display. The covers are already high quality and free to print so if you ever want a copy a short trip to the printers is all that's in your way.

Beautiful covers. And welcome to Vita/PSNGAF. I'll send you a friend request :).
Thanks for the add. Currently playing the Spelunky daily, but I'll add you as soon as I'm done!

I also don't think FFXII has the same appeal as FFX, but it is somewhat close. It's total global sales were close to 6M iirc, which is about 75% of FFX sales.

But if anything, the FFX/X-2 HD collection showed that gamers are hungry for good FF games, and not only I believe having an HD version of XII would give a lot of gamers a chance to get a shot at the game for the first time, but I think it would also help SQEX fill the gap between now and FFXV, since they don't have anything announced yet between now and the release of FFXV.

About ports of the PSone games, I completely agree. I'm just a sucker for FFs and I would love to see HD graphics for those games. And now that you mention that you can already play all of those on other systems besides FFXII, that's the exact same reason Kitase mentioned when he said XII would be SQEX next port.

Would love to see those PS1 FF's eventually get them, all 3 of them.

Agreed, they basically show that gamers are hungry for good FF games.

I also think XII will be next since it would seem to be the closest to X in terms of work needed to complete an HD Remaster even if it's not quite up to the popularity of X.

First post. Proud to be joining VitaGAF.

Just beat P4G 20 minutes ago with the true ending. It was the reason I got a Vita. Took 3/4 of a year with a playtime of about 65 hours but it was completely worth it.

Glad I got it finished so I can start Terraria when it hits plus on Tuesday. I was addicted on PC and now I can be addicted again. Just like Spelunky.

Welcome!

Enduring the wait. So looking forward to seeing more of Gravity Rush 2.

Oh yeah, good idea... I actually live pretty close to a printer. Forgot that I'm not limited to my own useless printer.

I wish the vita boxes weren't so odd shaped compared to all my other media. They're so skinny and flimsy looking, and too tall for how shallow they are, so that when lined up on a shelf with non vita games they look out of place. Your beautiful covers make me wish I could display some!

Vita cases are adorable, you don't know what you're talking about :P!

I like that Sony pretty much scaled down the proportions of their bluray cases for their Vita cases, but then again those cases are also oddly shaped in comparison to other media so no dice I guess. If any case deserved the denomination of 'cute' the Vita cases would be it.

What I do find annoying about the size of the cases is that since they're already so small the art is covered by ratings, logos, and other ancillary elements that obfuscate the design of the art and ruin it's purpose in the first place.

If they do make FFXII:IJSZ HD Remaster, they should include another game since it's usually a standard.

From what I've observed:
- HD remasters need more than one game for it to be considered publishable
- Persona 4 Golden, though an HD port of a PS2 game, had a standalone release because of it contains several new exclusive content (extended storyline, new character, etc.)
- International versions aren't exactly new games because they were released previously in a single region (FFX:I came out only in J/EU, FFXII:IZJS came out only in J)

it's hard to see something like FFXII: Revenant Wings on DS ever being on anything else, the way a lot of Nintendo handheld exclusives have stayed... like FFTA, and all the Castlevania games etc

...but there is precedence with FFIII and the remakes in Kingdom Hearts, so it could happen, I guess

Revenant Wings or bust

But what else could they include? I could definitely see them releasing just FF XII (if they do) without another game. They could put it out sooner that way too. I think it would still sell really well.

Edit: Revenant Wings and I'd buy this day one (probably would anyway).
OOH!! Since we're talking about Ivalice anyway, what if they remastered all the Tactics games and re-released them in a collection?

Unless Sony ups the cart size it'd probably behoove the developers to focus on the single title and ensure that it is up to snuff instead of attempting to incorporate another related title (Revenant Wings?).

They could try create a digital grimoire that documents the entire history of Ivalice kind of like what they did for Metal Gear Solid, I'd enjoy that.

Edit: JUST CAME IN THE MAIL!

I wouldn't be surprised if a standalone release costs $25+ and is digital only.

I might actually buy that, for as much as I didn't care for the "story" or the locations (and some of the other badly designed portions of XII), I really did like the combat and I might be more interested in the hunting missions after platinuming FFXIII as well as being interested in doing some of the summon battles because I can just pause into standby for the ones that take hours.

type-0 is always wanted. but an Ivalice HD collection would be perfect. it definitly has something to work with.

I've been thinking about this and I'm wondering if having at least two games packed in an HD remaster remains the standard. FFX/X-2 was done so not because of that rule, but because X-2 was the sequel to X, so it made sense to pack them together. Having both of them also increased value of course.

So what if they had made only FFX in HD? Would it have never come stateside? Does this "rule" still applies?

Would have likely been digital only.
Honestly I think they only reason they made X-2 HD was because they could double the price of the remaster with just a bit of extra work.

It'll be a digital-only release like Okami HD.

FFX|X-2 HD Remaster is likely one of the most successful HD re-releases, but there's an undisputed king:

God of War Collection - 2,418,516

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/06/17/god-war-series-worldwide-sales-show-god-war-iii-at-the-top/

Those numbers are just crazy. But God of War 2 was a post-gen release, so maybe there were some new buyers there.

Welcome! Cool looking avatar. Right now I don't have a charger so I'll try to not use my Vita, but I'll add you when I have one again.

I noticed on the NA PS digital store on PS3 that Hudson's Military Madness NECTARIS is still there for $9.99, and, there's still a free demo,

This is the 3D remake of the original 1989 PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16 game that came out on XBLA, PSN and Wii Ware in 2009

There isn't a Vita version?

It kinda looks like Advance Wars.

It'll be a digital-only release like Okami HD.

No it won't. FF is much bigger than Okami. Even if there is just one game, they'll release it on retail. And they could always put a Tactics, XII RW or create some extra content to justify that it's just 1 game and not a Collection.

borderlands on vita is one of the best purchases i made , even with frame issues (not so bad as the pople say) and some graphic downgrades the games looks almost the same and plays really well on Vita.

I agree that Final Fantasy is much bigger than Okami, but AFAIK none of the physical copies of HD remaster titles released in US contain only a single game. Unless SCEA change their policy, I don't see how Final Fantasy XII will be an exception.

The "key" here is the content. If both the original and the remastered game have the same contents, you can't bring it. If they're different you can bring it.

Maybe they could justify them as "new games" since we never got the International version. They could add a new game. Or they could add some new contents (a couple of extra boss fights, a new area, who knows...) and try to see how it fits the original game.

well, no games for me.
i own dragon's crown and trine 2 on vita and ps4.
great games guys. i enjoyed it alot.

as for me, i think i will wait until something good is out before i pay for the subscription again. it ends next mounth.

Pretty sure SCEA no longer has this policy.

Anyway, international version was never released here.

So I just found out the new Treasures of Montezuma game was released on Vita in Europe, anyone know anything about a US release?

I was under the assumption it was already out in the US. There are people on my ranking list that are super high and they are US accounts. Unless the game is not displaying the rankings board properly.
