PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Ok, thanks.

Hope you guys figure out a better system soon though. Announcing the same day as the update is bonkers. If you're not going to do the Europe model of announce for the entire month, and I don't blame you, at least go:

Week 1: Announce
Week 2: Deliver
Week 3: Announce
Week 4: Deliver

That way you keep the service top-of-mind all month long, either in anticipation for the games, or in playing the games.
We had the Europe model for a long time and I wish we had it again. It gives people with backlogs time to plan ahead.

Keeping the service on top-of-mind all month long has been terrible since SCEA implemented it. People hype it up and get frustrated weekly, and they're much more likely to not buy stuff since it might just be announced as free the next Monday. It's better to lay it all up ahead and not give people reason to create unrealistic expectations.

Sorry if it's a really silly question, but can you set games to download from your PC like you can on the Xbox? Just thought it'd be a lot easier when downloading multiple games, especially to check reviews etc before downloading them :)

Thanks!

Not yet, but they've said it will be added in the future. What you can do right now is purchase games/add them to your download list on the website and then go to old store download list on your PS3 via Account Management -> Transaction Management -> Download List. That way you don't have to launch the shitty new store.

*for EU. NA is still waiting for the monkey to flip the on switch.

Wow Mortal Kombat and Knytt Stories? I was planning to get MK for the VITA but doesnt hurt to play it for free I suppose. I look forward to seeing the next deals.

I dunno, I'm getting salty on fighting games as freebies on PSN. We have enough of them already.

Looking forward to another week of disappointment from SCEA. I'd like to see the weekly releases be responsive towards feedback.

So iv just bought my first ever sub for PSN+ grabbed the year on sale.

How does this work?

Do games get taken down?
Do i have to download them now so i can use them in the future.
If i keep my PSN+ sub i keep my games right?

Do games get taken down?

Yes - as long as you check the PS blog of your region you can see which games and when they will be taken down. Most stay up for quite a while though.

Do i have to download them now so i can use them in the future.

You just have to 'purchase' them off the store so they are added to your download list. You don't have to complete the download. They will then be in your download list even if they are removed from the Instant Game Collection.

If i keep my PSN+ sub i keep my games right?

Yes.

Thanks so much! Downloading the games now - really handy that I can 'secure' these games before the next switch over (not sure when I'll turn on my PS3) next but a shame you can't download Vita games also - I'm actually very tempted to get one now, amazed by how good a deal PS Plus is! Thank you Sony.

(ps, amazed to find a website, without flash, where every single page has a long loading screen!)

So just to clear this up for me.

I add everything i want to play now or plan on playing to my basket and go to the checkout and i can always go back and download them free whenever i want so long as my PSN+ sub is valid.

If i let the sub slide and then renew at a later date do i still have access to my games?

Well, they've got to be running out of high profile fighters on PSN. They've already given us SF4, VF5 and KoF. P4A, Tekken, and Soulcalibur aren't available on PSN.

Does anyone have a one month trial just laying around?

I'll owe you one. Thanks.
Got a eu month code if you want, but you need to enter CC details to enable. Let me know if you want it

Yeah this is the only thing you can do I think. Alternatively buy through the SEN store if your region has it, or the PS3.

SEN store if it's been enabled in your region.
Ah I see, thanks. Got stuck when I tried it just now, but I'll check it later again

edit, they also added Tomba, all I can say is FUCKING FINALLY. 8 bucks is a bit more than I hoped (Stranger's Wrath is tempting me to triple dip grrr) but I'll bite anyway

The ones you activated, yes.

Going away for the regular Festivus.

Will I be able to take part of all the plus offers on the webstore?

Or do I need to be logged in on a PS3 with my plus account to be part of plus offers?

Need to decide if I will bring my PS3 along or not.

Do we know if/when Infamous 2 will be taken down from the instant game access?
I don't think they've given exact details for NA, but in Europe they've already said inFamous 2, LBP2, & Motorstorm Apocalypse (Ratchet & Clank in NA) will be up for a full year so they'll probably be refreshed around E3/June.

If your region is supported by the webstore, yeah you can just use that.

If you're in the US, then no :(

Thanks for the tip. I'll do that from now on, as I hate how long the store takes to boot up, and how sluggish it is to use.

No, they are expiring on December 31st in Europe.
It's likely they'll expire on that date in US too.

I think that was just an assumption some people made, not something Sony ever actually stated.

AFICT, the Dec EU blog post says:

Titles removed from IGC:
  • 5th December: Crysis 2 (PS3)
  • 5th December: Scott Pilgrim vs The World (PS3)
  • 5th December: Double Dragon Neon (PS3)
  • 19th December: Chronovolt (PS Vita)
  • 21st December: Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack (PS Vita)

and the Jan post also doesn't have them listed for removal:

Leaving PS Plus:
  • 2nd January – Batman: Arkham City
  • 2nd January – Bulletstorm
  • 2nd January – Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition
  • 16th January – Mortal Kombat (PS Vita)
  • 23rd January – Knytt Underground

On the other hand the original IGC post from back in June says:

For the next 52 weeks, whenever you join PlayStation®Plus you will be able to get your hands on these titles – they’ll be available at any time over the next year, yours to download and play for as long as you subscribe.

  • inFamous 2
  • Motorstorm Apocalypse
  • LittleBigPlanet 2

Hmm can I activate a 30 days PSN Plus Trial code without a credit card? i DON't have a credit card on me, just my normal debit card =/

Don't know if I'm misunderstanding you somehow - but you can secure the Vita games with your PS3 also.

If I sign up for a PS Plus trial and then buy the discounted Music Unlimited membership, will I still have the Music Unlimited membership if I let my Plus membership lapse?

Thanks for the replies!

Be warned though, I jumped in on the deal, and was disappointed at the music unavailable through the service.

No Tool at all :(
Random songs from random musicians in albums.
Songs named incorrectly.
Duplicate albums under same artists.

It needs a bit of work.

I believe you're right, those three IGC games change every year, due to the fact that SCE want to be able to advertise certain games on PS+ bundles as included in the service, so that people don't pick up a bundle and find that all the games have changed.

I fully expect Uncharted 2 to be one of the games in the IGC though when E3 comes around. That seems rather likely.

Well, the games which stay there for a year have to be rather "high profile" first party. God of War 3, KZ2 or KZ3 seem also likely.

I tried Big Sky Infinity.

Unfortunately it's not very good. The fluctuating framerate is the real killer, but there's also a critical lack of feedback given to the player (Are my shots hitting? How do I know if my super laser is ready?), ridiculous difficulty spikes under the guise of "dynamic difficulty", and a boring level up system which can be bypassed via microtransaction.

Super Stardust HD still reigns supreme.

My complaints about Big Sky: Infinite are very similar although it gets a bit more fun after you level up some of your stats and are able to move faster and survive longer.

The voice over is unbelievably grating and completely unfunny, my ears.
