PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Sleepy Dogs was a tough download last night. 2 hours for 50%. Shut it off. Turned it on this morning. Finished downloading and installing in about an hour. Crazy.

I queued it up from the webstore and let automatic downloads handle it. No idea how long it took, but it was completely painless on my end.

Thanks for the heads up. I am planning on playing it later and forgot about the possible patches. D/Ling now.

I guess the pain is still coming. Hopefully the PS4 will patch it up as part of the download process.

My European Sleeping Dogs save doesn't work with the North American version of the game. :(

If I buy the DLC, will I be able to play it, or do I have to play the main game again up to a certain point?

Yep, saves are region locked :(

Haven't played it myself, but from what I have read, you can access the DLC pretty much whenever.

The bolded made me snicker. I guess we're to the point we have to start using these kinds of terms!

Bring on next-gen!

It was more about how some Plus offers are also Vita/PSP games, usually it's 3 PS3+PSN games and 2 Vita/PSP games. 3*12= 36, assuming at least 2 of them are PS3 games...

It's got nothing to do with next gen when I wrote my post =P

MGS HD Collection comes with just 3 games: Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

I have yet to experience MGS and want to jump into a bundle deal to experience the whole series. Legacy is my best bet, right?

Or should/can I buy all the MGS games I need through the PSN store right now?

Edit:

$25 total if I buy the MGS Collection + MGS 1 via Plus

Isn't this a good deal? I don't want to wait for MGS Legacy, it sounds too expensive.

Or should I skip #1 and just Wiki it? How does it hold up in terms of control and design?

No, it includes all the games he lists. The only ones it doesn't really have is MGS1 and MGS4.

I <3 you GAF

The GoW games are remote play compatible right?

Yes, it's remote play compatible but it was unplayable for me at least since you have to use the touch pad for L2, R2, L3, R3.

Not sure if anyone besides me cares, but I've been trying to track how many ratings games gain from their Plus exposure. Haven't been doing a great job of it, but I think I've started to stay on track. Anyway...

Demon's Souls
Day Before Going on Plus: 360
Finally Off of Plus: 4241

Vanquish
Day Before Going on Plus: ~450 (Relying on my memory for this one)
Still on Plus, But Almost Gone: 2250

Sleeping Dogs
Day Before Going on Plus: 427
Now, One Day on Plus: 1600+

Hopefully all these ratings are just 1/1000th of the people that are downloading them and enjoying them.

Also, to put some of this into maybe some perspective, there are only a few things on all of the PS Store that have 10,000 ratings or more. So I'd say 4,000 for Demon's Souls is preeeetty good, but 2250 for Vanquish being up for three months now is downright sad. Shame on all of you! SHAME!

I've played it, but I always forget about to rate PS+ stuff. I'd give it a top rating if I actually bothered.

I don't think ratings matter that much on PSN. They are more bigger deal on XBL, if i reckon. I have barely rated a game on PSN.

About the download speeds,of course this doesnt help if you let it run overnight but I noticed that when it freezes,if I hit Triangle and check Status,if the numbers arent rolling,a pause/start click usually gets it going again...

I think they're somewhat indicative of a game's popularity. I know the games that Sony has touted as being the most-downloaded in whatever time (Journey, Infamous 2 DLC, etc) all have a lot of ratings.

So yesterday I added Sleeping Dogs to my download list and download queue from the web store. My PS3 is set to turn on and download updates at 4AM. I just signed in to find that it acted like I hadn't done anything. That really sucks.

PS+ will only automatically download patches for the last 10 or so games you've played.

My main problem with Hitman: Absolution is not the disguise system, but the "you can't proceed while enemies are on high alert thing". It's just ridiculous when I'm near the exit and there's a single alerted enemy somewhere on the other side of the area.

As for the game as a whole, it's a really bad Hitman game, but it's a decent TPS with stealth elements. Production values are amazing.

Happened with me, too. Pretty sad.

Kris Graft did some investigating what developers think of PS+. Article is up on Gamasutra.

http://gamasutra.com/view/feature/191966/playstation_plus_good_for_.php

"For us, yeah, the revenue was worthwhile," said Glaiel [creator of Closure]. "[Subscription models] are not a replacement for selling games traditionally -- Humble Bundle isn't either -- but it's super awesome Sony is doing this, because it absolutely helps in the end," he said.

Basic upshot is: build community, brand awareness, offset critics with friend word-of-mouth, and ultimately some money.

DLC wasn't mentioned directly

Every time I try to start Sleeping Dogs it wants to update to 1.02. It then installs a 965MB patch and then tries to install a 20MB patch and fails giving me an error code and taking me back to the XMB. Help!

EDIT: the error is 80029563

I like how I just downloaded Sleeping Dogs and God of War 1&2 HD and decided now was a good time to finally play Outland (which was free last year in like September). Game is really cool, dunno why I never checked it out before.

You know, Outland has been sitting on my PS3 unplayed this whole time, as well. Keep meaning to give it a go, but never do. Hm.

I've little doubt Playstation Plus represents a milestone in gaming. As a subscription-based game delivery system it's managed to be more visible and (apparently) popular than OnLive, and if Sony manages to somehow integrate Gaikai-based streaming gaming accessible from non-PS3 sources as well, it's something that could blow up to be even bigger.

This happened to me the first time the patch downloaded. Unfortunately the only solution was to delete said patch from the system (it showed up as an executable in the games folder for me) and let the system download it again.

It's basically Metroidvania + Ikaruga with a great tribal art style. It starts a little slow, but gets much more interesting once you're able to switch between red and blue freely and gets pretty challenging later on. The name is the most boring part about it, and probably why I never tried it before. I've been trying to clear out some of the older PS+ games to make room for new ones, since I ran out of space again. Outland has been a very nice surprise.

Not strictly PS Plus related, but those Dragon Age prices are good, cheaper than online places in the UK. Lots of mixed reviews, but they look interesting, worth it?

^Yes Europe are getting those games in June.

It's funny that DA2 which is considred worse than 1, is cheaper, but if you're gonna play Dragon Age, you're better off getting the PC versions off Steam.

The original Dragon Age is a decent game, do you like Bioware titles? I would not recommend Dragon Age 2, not even for the cheap price its up on EU PSN.

Are Ico, SotC and DS the only PS3 games we're getting next month?

I wish I could scold you for saying "only," as I read this in the entitled sort of way...

But, no, probably not, because next month is when LBP2, I2, and Ratchet are all supposed to expire. Around E3 I suspect we'll hear what games are going to replace those as the year-long titles.

I'll be honest, I've never played a Bioware game, but looking on YouTube, it looks good. Not sure about the lack of direct combat, as it looks like you set off the move-set and deploy it? Boiling it right down to basics there, I know.

So the original (Origins?) is better than the sequel?

To answer someone else's comment, I own a Mac so don't play PC games. Console or nothing :)

I hope not because I already own them.

I think they're going to give us new yearly games as well though.

Entitled? What? He's paying for the service.

Playstation All Stars, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and Twisted Metal. You can take that to the bank.

....THE BLOOD BANK!

By a long shot. I've only played the PC versions so I'm not sure how it controls on a console, but Dragon Age Origins is a faaaantastic game.

oh my glob i am so dumb it hurts

went to re-up my PS+ today from a stack of 30 day codes i have...them sunsabitches done just expired on me

there were 9 of them (;_;)

this is what i get for not reading fine print...@#$%

so yeah if anyone has a 30 day code (ideally unexpired) they can let go on the cheap, holla! i just want some sleepy dogs, and maybe to finish golden abyss

Entitled? What? He's paying for the service.

Maybe not the best place to get into a discussion of what entitlement means, but since you asked, to me it says "I deserve something." Yes, one can be entitled about things you pay for. To say "only these three awesome PS3 games" about a month with only four Tuesdays to begin with struck me as meaning "we should get more."

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not trying to pick on Certinity. I understand I could very well be reading WAY too much into a single word here. Such is the bias of a text-based medium.

Probably some good bets. I hope it's a little more interesting than that though. I think there are some great third-party games that have been around long enough and with us coming near the end of the generation maybe the publishers would think it a decent-enough idea to put a game on the year-long IGC. Assassin's Creed II comes to mind...

Why not just buy the service at this point? Is it really not worth the money to you?

Why not just buy the service at this point? Is it really not worth the money to you?

it is, and it kinda isn't for me:

1) i have very limited HDD space on PS3 and am being cheap/not yet upgrading it, natch
2) i only re-up when there's either a game i want (at least to keep in queue) or something i wanna play right now, so i prefer monthly codes

it's a lot cheaper this way than letting it auto-renew for 3 month blocks where i often won't use the content for much of that time (this speaks more to my current schedule than quality of said content, which i personally rate as pretty good!)
