PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Now I remember why I was so put off my Infamous 2 after playing the demo. What the fuck did they do to the audio? Truly terrible stuff.

The sound design is horrific. The city is so damn quiet. It's a shame because when music does kick in, it's really good.

Playing infamous 2 now, like it a lot and it's visually a big upgrade but the characters new voice is sooo bad

Basically, but by the end I came to appreciate all the voices in a bad b-movie sort of way.

I just played this game because of PS+ and despite it's myriad flaws I had a great time. No other open world game let's you have this much fun getting from point a to point b. Now if they could just make the characters and the people in the city a bit more interesting...

I'd love an infamous 3 on ps4 even if I wouldn't necessarily consider it a classic franchise.

I'm having trouble with my cloud saves. The folder is not updating. Right now the 4 saves that I uploaded yesterday on PS3(A) look corrupt. It seems to know there's a new version of the save files but it still shows the copy that was on this PS3(B) since 2 weeks ago.

Server down perhaps?

Edit: Fixed it, uploading a random save solved the issue.

I wonder if Sony may use PSN+ "free" games as marketing for future sequels. Give one of Assassins Creed 2/Revelations/Brotherhood around September, and if the subscribers like it, they'll be more than likely more inclined to go out and buy Assassins Creed 3 in November.

It worked with me and Darksiders.

That's going to come down to the publishers and if they're smart enough to do something like that. It's a good idea though, Ubisoft giving away even all 3 AC2 games away on PSN (2, brohood, rev) before 3 comes out wouldn't put much of a dent in their sales and it would spread awareness. I'm sure they're not exactly raking in the money on the PSN versions of those games right now.

If you got three AC games for free, why in the world would you buy the fourth instead of just waiting until they give you that one for free to 'build awareness' for the fifth?

Because they're not going to give a main game like 3 away for free less than a year from release. Revelations is more like an expansion pack so it's more throwaway.

I think it'd be smarter to just give away Brotherhood - the best in the series. Some would buy ACIII, and others would go as far as buying all the other chapters.

That's exactly what i expect them to start doing. Even if they just do it for first party games. II can imagine 3rd parties getting on board though. As has been said, with Darksiders. If the game is old, they're likely not making much money off of it any more, so it makes sense to make it free, gain exposure, and possibly increase sales of the sequel

Well i'm sure there will be some people who would be more than willing to sit and wait for two years, subscribing to PSN+ and then *possibly* getting Assassins Creed 3 in say late 2014, but I have a feeling there would be just as many people who, upon being impressed by a sub game, would be more than willing to place the money down on a new entry in a couple months time.

There was a study done last year following the PSN welcome back package that basically said that the welcome back games helped with the sales of LBP2 and mainly I2. So maybe they are going to use this tactic more often (but not too often and I'd expect 2 year delays on games rather than one-year delay as is the case with i2 and lbp2).

I didn't hear about that, but yeah i can really imagine that being the case.

Having all these games are nice. But all the games EU got that US didn't like Darksiders, I've already played. On the other hand I'm yet to play All 4 One and Just Cause 2.

I'm guessing that EU will be getting the other games soon? Just like US will be getting the EU games

Cole's voice was stupid, but I found it to be less stupid than it was in InFamous 1.

I really enjoyed this game. I loved getting around with a combination of Ice Launch and the thrusters. So fun! Shame Evil Cole doesn't really have an alternative to Ice Launch. Kinda makes the Evil Karma run less fun by default.

I like that beating it twice lets you use any power from either Karma side.

Think I'll pick up Festival of Blood next.

As Ross (The PS+ content manager for Europe) always says, if you want a particular game ASK and it will be looked into (no promises of getting it)

I think we should make a new topic every month highlighting what games are free. I have to believe that a lot of people still don't realize how much stuff is being doled out.

Forgive me if this sounds stupid, but where would I ask? Not that I'd be that bothered if we didn't get All 4 One and JC2 since PS+ has more than maid up for the £28 I paid for it and then some. Just would be nice.

Thanks for that, that's really interesting

No problem. I thought it was a very interesting read when I first read it and was wondering if Sony was gonna capitalise on it.

Isn't it just two games a month now? Or is it three?

Three are rotating, I think (with the EU PSN geting a new PSN indy game every month as well).

Ross actually hinted at the very likely possibility of EU getting the games that US had further down in the rotation.

PS blog whenever Ross makes a PS Plus post (i.e. every month)

We'll see in a couple weeks, but I thought it was two a month, then four every other month, and six every four months, or something like that. It is still confusing.

I just know that topics are created of "400 MSP right now gogogo!" all the time. I think it's worthwhile information for people to know they can get like six real, full retail games right now.

I think he posts here in the thread occasionally, but the EU blog is your best bet.

Seems like they constantly reply to comments individually, even if it's repeating old points already answered. Nice touch.

Do so. Got the best powers in any Infamous game. Loved the vampire flight. It's ridiculously cheap as well.

How does it compare to the other InFamous games in terms of content? Is there morality system? Do you get to explore all of New Marais?

I'm not expecting a huge amount of content compared to InFamous 1 and 2. It's only $10, after all. :P

You get the first island in Infamous 2. It's only 4-5 hours long but the powers you get are much cooler (can fly as a bat that drains your blood meter, you can refill easily by biting people). I don't recall a morality system.

I agree with this. PS+ has made me stop buying games for the system and using the rental service instead. There should be a new thread to talk about the new games that get offered.

It's only the first Island from New Marais. Most of the standard powers (non ice/fire) carry over. I think everything bar the lightning swing. But with bat flying you'll never use that. You get a vampire sense ability as well. There's no morality.

Vampire powers have their own blood meter as a seperate source to the usual electric one. Feeding recharges the meter. Bout 3-5 hours long depending on what you do.

$10 actually seems a bit much. I'm sure I saw it for like £3.50

It was $5 during that voter's choice sale PSN was doing a few months back. That's when I picked it up, great value for that price.

It's at least 3 a month with most games on a 16 (NA)/12 (EU) week rotation, 3 games on a 1 year rotation (lbp2, i2, & Ratchet A4O in US/MS:A in EU), and 1 game (VF5 this month) on a 4 week rotation. Every month you get 1 new game at the start of the month when they change the Game of the Month and 2 new games in the middle of the month when they rotate 2 games off the 16/12 weeks rotation group. The first couple of 16/12 week rotations are gonna be on a shortened schedule cause they don't want to wait 4 or 3 months for the first 16/12 week update. The US blog hasn't posted their schedule, but the EU blog has posted the details of their schedule.

Really? Even inFamous 2? The first game, while awesome, doesn't have the most timeless visuals, but the second game was gorgeous (especially when you consider that it's an open-world game).

No AA, horrible texture filtering, shitty framerate. The game has horrible image quality. Exclusives like that shouldn't look worse than multiplatform titles.

... what?

Seriously, I'm even more confused then I was before. This is Sony's problem; they have a service that is about... hm, let me do the rough math here... hold on... ok, about a hundred billion times better than the absolute atrocity that is XBox Live Gold, and they muck it all up with confusion. I swear, only Sony could make this so complicated.

It's not that complicated, he just didn't explain it too well :P

1 game (The "Game of The Month") changes every month
3 games stay for the whole year
The other 6 (8 if you're in US) change every 12 weeks (16 if you're in US) in pairs.

So 2 change one month, then the next 2 change, then the next 2.

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/06/05/heads-up-playstation-plus-update-6th-june-2012/

More games will be added in between, but that's the basic rotation.

I... think I got it. It's basically 3 games a month, with all 12 switching in June, presumably.

Pretty much, although as said there will be games being added in between on the old "change at the end of the month" limit.

Actually, this is quite confusing :P

It should be confusing, they want people to check the store at least once a week. :] Don't know what the big deal is though, just log on after the store updated, click 'purchase' on all the new games and download them whenever you want.

Darksiders is a great game, but I already played it on X360. Hope it's something else but I guess I'll do the whole Platinum thing for it sometime even though it's been 1000/1000'd

Kind of funny, a few weeks ago when the PS+ rumor thing started circulating, I was wondering if Uncharted 1 and 2 would be free to Plus members. Seems like it could be a possibility but not until next year at least

i thought at least one of them would be. Would be the perfect game to throw in for free, really.

Pretty much everyone has that game by now too. I bet they are counting for some double-dippers though

Yup, i guess. Still, i'd have expected them to maybe put UC1 in for free. Anyone that is new to PS3 and has signed up to PS+ would play and, if they enjoyed, buy UC2 and maybe UC3.

As you say, it's not as if they'd be losing a massive amount of money putting it up for free.
