So...I don't know what to make of this.
For some reason Saints Row: The Third is in my download/purchased history for 6/15/12. I noticed this the other day while going to download Just Cause 2. I've checked my credit card statement thoroughly and I don't see any charges.
Now I know Saints Row 2 was part of the PS+ free game promotion. I bought that on the 20th. Also, I bought/downloaded the demo (character creation) for Saints Row: The Third a few months ago.
However I definitely did not buy SR: The Third.
So either I downloaded the game in my sleep (however that doesn't explain why it never charged to my credit card) or I just benefited from a glitch and got a free game! This happen to anyone else by chance?

Check the SEN management site and see if it there's a cost associated to it.

I just checked (assuming you're talking about account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com) under my transaction history. There's no entries for 6/15/12. Weird. I'll take screenshots when I get home (on my phone right now).
Is it the actual game or just the 60-minute game trial that PS+ automatically downloaded because it thought you'd like it? I turned off automatic downloads of recommended games and videos a long time ago because of it downloading bullshit I didn't care about.
It's a ridiculous feature, especially 'cause it's hidden away in the menus and on by default.
The PS3 settings menus are crazy.
Yeah it's stupid. You have to go Settings > System Settings > Automatic Update then after you select "On" you select the time of day you want it to do the automatic updates then it finally lets you pick what you want updated. I'm also pretty sure that when it first came out you couldn't even pick to turn individual things off.
If you want both it's cheaper to ignore the PS+ discounts on the individual games and get the $40 bundle.
I'm kinda hoping we get what Europe got (Darksiders, MotorStorm Apoc) and vice versa.
Any idea what the bundle is on the EU store? With plus each game is 16.99 now. I'm in bed and can't check now.

I can't help wonder if they blew their annual Plus budget on the first batch of games for their E3 announcement and the rest of the year will suck. But I hope they prove me wrong. Only a few days until we find out what's next.

I hope not. But I've paid for 3 months now and if it proves to be lackluster I just won't renew.
I still feel like I've got my money's worth just with VF5 alone, and I have plenty of time to finish any games that appeal to me.

That'd be nice -- haven't played Apocalypse yet, and it would be smart to promote Darksiders II that way. If they don't do that game for July, I bet they do it for August.
I'm thinking more along the lines of the next couple of months sort of stinking and them going "whaaaat? We gave all those games in June, why are you complaining?"
I also fear we won't see a real first of the month update, and only see a small middle of the month one.

Just finished Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and I really enjoyed it. I appreciate a game that can take two well known game mechanics like melee and gun combat and twist them just enough to provide something that feels very unique. The story was nothing crazy, but as my first exposure to Warhammer 40k it defintely peeked my interest in that universe. I recommend it to anyone who has PS+ or if you find it for a good bargain if you don't.
I got suckered into buying a 3 month pass before E3 thanks to all the GAF hype. I never use my PS3 really but I did enjoy Infamous so I figured what the heck, I'll snag it and LBP2. Holy fuck the download speeds still SUCK on PSN.. after over an hour I was at like 2.5 GB of 4.7 for LBP2.

My download speeds are usually pretty speedy. I don't think it maxes out my connection but I can usually download a 5-6 GB game within 1-2 hours. I usually just queue the downloads anyway and let PS+ clean the download up when I have my cloud saves scheduled at 2 in the morning (it downloads and installs games automatically if it's queued up)

It's not that the download speeds suck, per se, it's that they're variable. LBP2 took me less than an hour to download. When I got Warriors Orochi 3, which is 11GB, it took me...maybe three hours? It all seems to depend on which download server you get connected to. If you pause the download then restart it, you'll get connected to a different server. Keep doing this until you get connected to a good one. That always works for me.

In my experience 2.5 gigabytes in an hour is maybe not ideal but fairly reasonable for most services. I haven't really had any download speed problems.

Don't, I max out my 16mbit/s connection.
I don't know what to tell you, but I consistently get 1mb downloads for most things off the store. Even over Wifi with my Vita the speeds seem normal to me.

What does Infamous being 14 gigs have to do with terrible service. I downloaded all the 10 games in less than 12 hours. I just download everything at midnight and in the morning it's all done for. Even valve can't say their steam service is great during peak hours.

Jesus, you're picky; That's 5.56Mb/s. Ever thought of the fact that your 20Mbps gets a cap during peak hours? Maybe your connection just flat out sucks.
It's OK though, I just realized where your tag leads to. PS+ is one of the best investments I've ever made. My freaking HDD is full from all the free games being thrown at me that will easily last me the three years of service that I have.

Depends on your point of view. For me it is the best case scenario. For retail games there is retail.

Honestly, it was longer than an hour but I have no clue exactly how long it had been. Certainly closer to 2, but either way it's an unacceptable speed for someone who was using none of their bandwidth elsewhere.
So would I in 2012. Not in 2007 though!

we didn't know beforehand for June because of the big E3 surprise but they've already told us they are waiting on July so there isn't another mishap like with Rayman in May when they told everyone it would be 50% off for Plus members and then it only ended up being 20% off

I suppose I wont be able to keep these games as soon as I stop subscribing to Plus?
You can keep them, but you can't play them. If you resubscribe everything will become playable/downloadable again as long as you link them to your account while they're available.

What's the deal with Saved Data Auto Upload?
Yesterday I was playing Dark Souls and died at the same time as a boss which caused the infuriating loss of a very rare titanite slab. This was the second character where I'd lost a slab at the same boss, so this time I decided to roll back and try it again. "No problem, I'll just download the backup save from the internet." Oh but I have to wait 24 hours from the last upload time to recover my backup save...which happens every 24 hours unless I don't play the game (which I already have), so I have to turn off auto upload for Dark Souls, and wait until tomorrow.
So this morning I turn I on the PS3 and am greeted with a screen telling me my Dark Souls save has been uploaded again. I check and it still says it's turned off. I guess I should have pulled the ethernet cable, instead of trusting that the feature would work as intended.
More importantly, how are you ever supposed to make use of your auto uploaded saves for a game you're actively playing without turning auto upload off? It uploads every 24 hours, and locks you out of downloading it for the same 24 hours.

EU store Plus member here, currently enjoying the hell out of Darksiders. I'm not a big Zelda fan (last one I played was Zelda II on NES) mainly because I haven't owned a Nintendo console except for the NES, but this feels like the Zelda game I've been waiting for, with a little splash of Devil May Cry. It's violent, it's voice acted, I like the Warhammer 40k art style, game progression feels great, the boss battles are huge, and with a few more breaks for story beats, the pacing could be top notch as well.
Pretty clever to make games with upcoming sequels available for free/cheap, now I'm totally hyped for Darksiders II.

Only games with save files with are locked to the system (a few titles including SF4, Dark Souls and Demon's Souls have save files like this) require a 24 hour period before you can redownload the file after uploading, unlocked saves don't have this issue.
If that's the kind of stuff they will be offering with the subscription then I don't think I will be renewing my subscription. Outside of Flower and Journey I have everything I want from the psn titles.
Oddly I was hoping for Folklore to be given away instead
