PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Really?

I'm done here.

Yeah really. I'm sure they'll give us more before the rest of the year but I was going on your hypothetical scenario. 1 a month is better than all at once so I don't have to go 5 months without having anything to play on the service. I realize it's the same number at the end but the spacing is better.

Here's a crazy idea. Only download one game a month.

Also, its not the same number, its more.

1 a month is not better because, quite simply, it's a slower rate of getting games. Plus we'd be getting less games if JVM's schedule is right. Even assuming they'd give out 1 every month on the old schedule (which they were not), that's 12 a year vs a potential 15 a year on the new schedule (assuming the games are rotated at a maximum of 4 months).

Not only is the current system better, it's also much more enticing to grab new users.

Edit: actually it'd be 18 a year on the new system, but let's be pessimistic and say it's 15 anyway

Nah I take what's available since I play a lot of stuff. Like I said I already went through just about all of those except LBP2 though I'm still trophy whoring Just Cause 2, it takes a long time. I was never good at restricting myself.

Just subscribed again, first time since september of last year I think and got over 35 free pieces of content. I'm a happy man. Learning how to play VF5FS and waiting for inFamous 2 to finish downloading. Can't wait.

Talk about first world problems. I doubt anyone here has already played through all 12 of last months games enough to be complaining about these 3.

Sony should be concerned about my first world problems as I'm the one giving them money every month. Now, they've got me for another 3 since I went out and got a new card in anticipation for the new deals but it looks like July's a bust. If it continues like that and it turns out they blew their load all at once then I won't have any motivation to resubscribe and keep giving them money.

I want 2 of the new games, still have to beat a couple of the other free games.

Really should have snagged 2 years when they where going for $25-30 a year.

I prefer it spread out over 1 a month instead of all at once, because I've already played through most of those in the time they've been available. So all I'm left with for the rest of the year, pretending that they won't give any more blu ray games, are just PSN games I have minimal to zero interest in.

I don't understand. Are you saying you've played through all 12 of the games in a month?

Not 12 because I think 4 were PSN games and I haven't touched those yet, and I didn't play through LBP2. But the other blu ray titles I have played to completion already. I'm trophy whoring some of them still but I've played through the stories and experienced most of the side stuff some of them had to offer, like the 49 faction missions in just cause 2.

edit: I forgot Infamous 2. I didn't play that either but I just platinumed it back in May I believe.

I would think you're more of an exception than the rule then. I honestly wish I had the time to play to completion 6-7 games in a month's time. With that kind of video game consumption you must've been paying a fortune before PSN+ came along or you are a heavy Steam Sale gamer.

So at least five of the games that were completely new to you (4 PSN games and LBP2, at least) ... and you haven't played them. The ones that you have played already, you're trophy hunting. Simultaneously you wish that there were more games being added.

I know I said I was done here, but for the love of all that's good and wholesome have some reasonable expectations.

People who are saying these three games are weak are CRAZY. All three are good if not awesome.

Too bad I own all the games already, though. I was hoping for a little injection for the slow month of July.

Still confused as hell what the schedule is, though. When will they replace one of the bigger games with another big game?

I'm definitely the exception but that's also why I preferred the spacing of the older system. I like that they gave us more games in total in the "revamp" but when it's all front loaded I'm left twiddling my thumbs for the other months, excluding new games I buy obviously..I'm speaking only in PS+ terms here.

I don't know if I'll put much into LBP2, I played it when it came out and it's not something I enjoyed much at all. I've played all of these blu ray games and the ones that came out in the old system but they're still fun to go back to, plus many of them I played on 360 or Steam so I can still trophy whore them.

As for the PSN games I have little interest in anything on that service. The threads where I criticized xbla games and the types of games they normally are, those same criticisms attach to PSN too since it's a similar type of service. Arcade style games don't do much for me. I'll get to them eventually but it's not the reason I pay for PS+.

Not really, because you're not the only one giving them money, and this new format brought them more subscribers. Your first world problem of not being able to restraint urself without being spoonfed less content really is of no concern to anybody.

Also i much rather have good and recent games like outland then average and old games like underworld

I'll give Pac-man a shot. Not really interested in Imposters, and I'm not familiar with the third game.

Renegade Ops is a dual-stick overhead shooter type game, I heard it's pretty good

Pac Man CE DX is the best of the three imo, game is so good

I do think it would be a pretty good idea if Sony spaced these things out. As is I'm always excited for the first Tuesday of every month, and then not for the next three or four. It would be cool to be giddy to turn on my PS3 every week.

Edit: And I'm not saying there should be a new game every week. Just when there are multiples, spread em out, and then also throw in sales to fill up the other missing weeks. Or a free soundtrack or themes, stuff like that.

RenOps is very good. Especially on Steam with perfect IQ and butter smooth gameplay. I need a co op game like this for PS3 so I'm definitely grabbing that one. I wonder if it will come with the DLC......

But will those people stay if they're only being given PSN games every month, after seeing the mass of retail titles they were given? That remains to be seen since the service is still new and a lot of people probably bought 3 month cards.

But I'm not overreacting here, I'm not calling the entire year bust just because July is. I'm merely stating possible scenarios just to talk here.

Well your implying this new format isnt worth ur subscription even though the old one was, despite having less content but more spread out.

The only thing I don't like about this new system is the frontloaded content and taking ps1 games away. I don't want them to give us less blu ray games, just space them out instead of getting 7 in 1 month and then nothing (which may not happen, we don't know yet it's only been 1 month).

Were PSOne games they provided that magnificent? I got tired of getting Spyro for the fifth fucking time and I rather get something not offered before.

Also, Minis need to stay.

Sony said they just wanted to up the number of free games on the store at any given time. That way any time someone new subscribes they will have 12 games to download.

The rotation is going back to normal.

LOL at the people complaining about more free games.

The 3 games were getting this week suggest its still better then "normal"

I don't think we're going to get much more in the way of free games. They are already devaluing paying for content enough as it is. You could almost never buy a game ever with Plus.

Well I think they gave away the Resident Evil games last year but that was before I joined. Usually when they were giving spyro and crash away they gave them all away in the month they went up, same with syphon filter. They were solid games and some of them still hold up somewhat today. They did say they would occasionally give one away but I'm hoping by that they mean only when they're able to give a true classic away, like MGS1 or one of the big FF games.

Disagree with that. I don't even know if I'll bother downloading them. Renegade ops was ok on Steam but I don't have any interest in playing again and I got tired of pac man years ago. I asked before but I don't think I got an answer, isn't Gotham a multiplayer game? Even if there's bots I'm pretty sure it's still a multiplayer oriented game and I don't bother with those.

Man, stop thinking this is all about you. Regardless of ur personal opinion on the games they are still of higher quality (and more of them) then what ud usually get for free on psn+

LOL at the people complaining about more free games.

I'm only expressing disappointment in getting nothing but PSN games because that's not free to me. That's basically $6 I spent for games I don't want at all since a 3 month card costs 18. Part of my frustration is aimed at Sony for not being able to express how the new system would work. This "you get 12 games every 12 weeks, maybe 16 but probably not we'll just switch something out for something new every month hang on we'll see" doesn't slide.

Getting all those blu ray games was nice but as I said I could have paid for a 1 month card and finished them off in time.

Eh it pretty much is all about me in this case since they want me to keep paying monthly. I'm expressing my disappointment. This isn't healthcare, I'm not paying to get nothing just because someone else might like it.

It's very simple. 12 games will always be on there and every few weeks a few get switched out. How hard is that to understand? If you're expecting to get games you want every time, your expectations are ridiculous.

He's just whining since he doesn't like any of them.

EDIT: Damn you quick edit.

What will get switched out? Will it be an even trade, like a blu ray title for another blu ray title or just more PSN games? Those are simple questions that could and should have been answered on day 1 but they weren't, as I saw many here and in the other PS+ threads around E3 time that were very confused as to how it works.

Only good psn games they gave for free from the E3 thing were sideway new york and virtua fighter.

Shovelware like choplifter HD? Really sony? I wanna like contra but I just can't get past contra 3 being so good I can never play another contra again.

I haven't touched the other games, them giving me inFamous 2 set me for the rest of the year, I would like motorstorm apocalypse like the EU PSN plus promo got, other then that I'm perfectly content with no more free BD games for the rest of the year. After getting horrible shit like tomb raider and need for speed and far cry, inFamous is a breath of relief and fresh air, I'm willing to forgive them for it all.

Plus is not for you, just enjoy your games and quit when you're 3 months are over. PSN games rotate quicker, bluray games slower. Seems pretty obvious they wouldn't give out the higher value freebies as often.

Pac Man CE DX is truly sublime. I regret buying for the 360, though. Glad to have it on a system with a usable d-pad now!

Renegade Ops is really cool, too. It's from the Just Cause developers.

I was hoping for Renegade Ops. Loved the demo last year.

Never heard of Pac-Man CE DX, and I'd rather not know. Some people said it's good so I'll just go into it blind.

I would also add that thinking the current ratio of Retail:PSN games will change is overly optimistic. It started with 6 Retail and 6 PSN games and we should all expect it to stay like that for the foreseeable future. PSN games replaced with PSN games, Retail games replaced with Retail Games. I would prefer they'd switch them with both at the same time though (2 PSN and 1 Retail and vice versa the next month).

Discussion of free games at bottom. But first, a question on this week's sale: Is the PS3 version of Crysis so bad? I've heard the 360 version performs better, and I'm hoping for a sale there, but if it's passable on PS3 maybe I'll just grab it. Probably get NBA Jam, though.

As for the free games: Wah? :)

At what, $5 a month, if they keep up this pace I'm happy to test whatever they shovel at me while keeping the games I really like in my library.

Fact is Gotham sounds pretty good but I'd never have paid a cent for it. I hear Renegade Ops is good, but it wasn't on my priority list. I have Pac-Man on 360 but I'll definitely double dip for free.

just wondering, our next update will be in 2 weeks right? changing 2 games from the list.

basically, every 2 weeks we got 2 new games, every first week in a month like this week, we got 2 free games + 1 free game of the month

am I right?

I think the mid update is just discounts

I'm down to my last 7mb of my 150mb online storage. Fallout New Vegas eats up a lot of space. They really need to up the storage to 300 or 500 mb. About to exceed that limit any day now.

If you want retail-games, get them at retail. The advantage of Plus is getting downloadable games you wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Especially for older PS3s downloading games of 10 GB isn't fun.
