PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

I don't own any of the retail copies cause I already sold or traded them :D

I used to do that. Finish a game, and then trade it in for the next one. Rinse and repeat, Does wonders for your backlog and saves a lot of money.

But thne I've given a few games back that I found my self wanting to play again. Couldn't bring myself to buy them again and I regretted. selling it in the first place. Tales of Vesperia :(

Now I only trade about half my games and keep the rest. Especially rare games

Just started Walking Dead last night and was taken back by how much I enjoyed it.

Outland was on my list of "things to buy," so needless to say I'm excited to be getting it for free* this month. Plus strikes again.

Same here for Walking Dead. That's one of my favorite things from Plus: the unexpected surprise gem you might otherwise not have played.

Outland's a solid game. Already played it on the 360 but might go for a second run if it does turn out to be a freebie.

Basically, just because there were a certain number of PS3 games in the IGC at launch doesn't mean there will always be that many PS3 games in the IGC.

This is probably true. I don't expect there to always be a minimum of X retail games and Y PSN games an do forth. As long as the library as a whole at any given time is compelling in the eyes of Sony, I think those numbers are going to vary.

Just askin. How many people sell their retail copies of games gotten via PS+? Because in the last few months, I've gotten nearly £100's from selling my old games.

I have several of the games that were given away and I gave them all to my sister. I also have a few of the ones that EU got free so far, and I will probably give all those away if they appear digitally in the US.

Anyone else keep getting an error message about not having enough cloud storage space to upload certain items?

I've around 100mb left right now, and as far as I can tell all the saves I WANT it to upload are being uploaded, but it keeps telling me there's not enough space.

It's kinda weird.

Q7so

Did US PS+ ever get a free psp game? Cause it looks like EU is getting one.

Seems like a lot of complaining in this thread for what seems like a great deal? Could someone explain what the issue is?

Sony's "instant game library" was a bit misleading. SCEA is giving out a lot PSN titles while people want retail titles like SCEE is dishing out.

It truly unnerves me that a month of Gotham City Impostors (incredibly good), Pac-Man CE DX (good), and Renegade Ops (pretty good), and now a month of two Walking Dead episodes and Outland (very beloved) isn't "enough" for people to justify their less than $5 a month investment. PS+ is so incredible, and people still complain. Unbelievable.

Meanwhile, people continue to throw money down the toilet that is Microsoft Gold, iOs, MMOs, microtransactions, etc.

Gaming is doomed.

They probably subbed in june expecting megatons like that every month. There are good months and bad months, you just can't expect everything you like, it doesn't work that way.

Well, the US customers did arguably get better games just after E3, and the PSN service in general has been far better for them, as several DLCs and demos have been released earlier in the US PSN store. Not to mention the absence of services like Netflix here in the old continent. As a European customer, who's used to getting the short end of the stick, it's refreshing to get something earlier/better for once.

There aren't bad months. At least, there haven't been in a long time, ever since they started giving out a free game or more every month.

Sony (EU at least) has said as part of PlayStation Plus Presents more indie games will be highlighted. Retro/Grade will be first game on this service, August 22nd.
Knytt Underground and Big Sky Infinity are another 2 indie games to hit the service for free later on, nice to see PS+ highlight indie games on the service and included in the subscription.

I have to agree. Even the Sound Shapes discount was an added bonus, and I honestly was never going to drop money on the Walking Dead games until I played the first one last night.

I signed up for retail titles and have gotten nothing since E3. Started with a bang and has been a whimper since of games I already own. I'll let my sub run out and renew when they put up some retail games.

If you play SSX, it has a ghosts file which is just over 100MB. Its a separate file from the progress saves file. So if you have less than the ghosts file needs, it will continuously give you that error. Its super obnoxious. They should have done it like LBP and LBP2 where you get a separate file generated on demand if needed, not automatic.

And every single one of them is PSN-only. We have to sit back and watch Europe get games like Deus Ex and Dead Space 2 in addition to PSN titles. That's the problem here.

Yup, US and Europe should be equal in quality of games. I would have loved Deus Ex and Dead Space 2.

I really love this game I might buy the rest of the episodes when they come out. I thought I was going to be disappointing but damn this game is so good.

Outland?

Haha...oh wow. I feel like they are just trolling us now.

I want to play Outland but yes, the saltiness continues on my end. Hell, I'm still jealous about Motorstorm Apocalypse much less Deus Ex and Dead Space.

I'm really getting tired of this. It's the first f**king time in a looong while when we Europeans get something earlier/better, and immediately the endless complaining starts.

I didn't hear any US customers complaining about unequality, when they had the longer end of the stick. We've never been equal before, so why should we be now?

Totally. I would have bought both that and Dyad without the discount, so getting six bucks back was well-appreciated.

Fir you, but those who buy games on a regular basis on PSN/Live Arcade, it's been a pretty bad couple of months.

Heh, I've actually bought most of those games I listed. Sometimes the month's luck doesn't go your way, but I don't think that justifies any whining and stomping of your feet, other than to say "aw, too bad for me, but a great month for anyone who hasn't played even just a third of these games."

Between All 4 One, Virtua Fighter, Walking Dead 1 & 2, and Awesomenauts, PS+ has more than paid for itself for the entire year, and that's only four months of updates, and doesn't include the discounts. Awesomenauts was especially... uh, awesome, in that I NEVER would have bought that game, and have now put almost 50 hours into it I like it so much. I would have happily paid twice the full price for all the enjoyment it's given me.

Yeah yeah yeah, EU has some better months, then the US does, then EU, then back, yada yada. I really hope that we won't have to hear the same crying from the EU when in November we get Uncharted 3, and they get Dyad and Sound Shapes, but I know I shouldn't hold my breath. I would bet US is saving their "big hitters" for the fall, as it seems SCEA is setting up for a big family/value push this holiday.

And I wretch at the assumption that PSN-only games are automatically worse than retail games. Journey is the best game of the year, and that is not adjusted for cost.

Where can I sign to get that EU update? It sounds perfect to me.

Two wrongs make a right? If SCEA wants my money they have to match SCEE's output with retail games.

I already bought Outland when it came out. Either way, it's a good game for those of you who didn't purchase it.

Kinda disappointed in this month's offerings....

Like GeoramA said, "We have to sit back and watch Europe get games", we Europeans have done so for years, and in that context the bickering of the US customers seems like that of spoiled brats. When you're accustomed to being treated as the number one child in the family, it might get on your nerves when that changes, but complaining about being put on the same level as others have been certainly seems annoying for those, who have never stood on the pedestal before.

It doesn't make it right, but all mentions of unequality sound pretty comical, when you look at how it's been for us for years. A couple of months of the same for you, and all hell breaks loose.

And it's not like the US PS+ offerings have been bad, quite far from it. I personally never thought about ending my PS+ subscription, when we had it worse before E3. No Qore, less 1-hour trials, less free games, less discounts, less everything.

Vote with your wallet if you are unhappy. I am.

Sorry but I don't give two shits about Europe's past treatment. As a consumer it doesn't benefit me at all what happens over there. That's their problem. All I know is that what they have been offering us in comparison is crap, and cheap crap at that. If they want to continue getting money from me then they need to please me.

I'm happy with plus. Never would have tried walking dead without those free games. Now I'm buying the rest day one. Never tried outlands, demo didn't impress me, but now I'm willing to give it another try.

I need a bigger hard drive. My 160gb is pushing only 5 or so gbs and it can't take no more. Need to get a terabyte to have everything at my fingertips.

The same goes for me and the recent "woes" of US customers. I do commend you for speaking sincerely, without trying to wave the unequality flag, as in reality no-one cared when the things were reversed.

Huh? Why would we complain when we have the longer end of the stick. The whole point of complaining is when you are unsatisfied. Like when we complained about taxation without representation.

Seems to me Europeans need to learn about squeaky wheels and grease.

Whatever the reason or the history, it's getting tiresome to listen to the complaining after every PSN update.

Seems to me all the grease in the world wouldn't be enough for these particular wheels.

I just hope all the people who complain in here also do so on the blog.

I hate that I'm treating this so seriously (though it was you who brought up taxation without representation) but this mentality irks me in all things these days. It reminds me of when EA "won" the Worst Company in the World Interent-thing a few months back, and how I mocked people about Bank of America being so much more evil simply because of the seriousness of what they were dealing with, only to be responded with "listen, I didn't buy a house from BoA, but I did play DA2 and ME3, so fuck EA! Why would I vote for BoA?" Um, because they're more evil, by a ton, even if you weren't affected by it?

So, anyway, you would "complain" (I would say "speak up") because you actually care about people other than yourself. Again though, I understand that it does seem strange to say that when we're just talking about "free" games for a paid video game service. Though I do think I said back in the day (six months ago) things along the lines of "man, too bad for you guys, Europe. Hopefully it gets better soon." And it has! So good for you guys!

I'd be happier if I didn't already have Outland on XBLA, but to be honest I haven't played a ton of it and it didn't rock my world.

I've already got the Walking Dead episodes and I'm sure I'll have more of the stuff they add, but I find the complaining a little off-base, too. The problem for me with PS+ is it's expanding the breadth of my library but not giving me any more time to play games.

I think the service is solid value, and I scoffed at it when it first came out. They've really done a better job than I thought they would with the freebies.

Isn't Europe Sony's strongest territory with the PS3? Maybe that's why they're getting better content, I don't know.

Regardless, it seems like a lot of EU Plus content eventually makes it way to the US, like Outland and Trine 2. I'd imagine we might get stuff like Deus Ex and Dead Space later on.

That's why we had to wait 6 month to get the PS3. That why we don't get all these US based services. That why we pay our games much much higher, that's why we always have late DLC or content, etc... That's because we are the strongest territory so nevermind us, we won't go anywhere...

That's why we had to wait 6 month to get the PS3.

I don't remember the reasoning behind that, but I don't think it matters how the PS3 started out there. If we're talking about today, then it's launch date compared to other territories really shouldn't come into the discussion.

That why we don't get all these US based services.

Don't you think licensing issues could be the could be the problem here? Not to mention a lot of key services don't really have a foothold in Europe? Not enough to warrant Sony to try and get an app for them.

That why we pay our games much much higher, that's why we always have late DLC or content, etc... That's because we are the strongest territory so nevermind us, we won't go anywhere...

That is the publishers, not Sony. They charge what they see fit; they price things in a way that they think they can get as much money as possible. If they think they can squeeze more money out of European customers, then they're going to do that. It's not Sony's fault.

I can't really defend late DLC/content, although I must say that also usually falls on the publisher's shoulders once again.

Interesting choice of words, considering I've seen new retail copies of Deus Ex or Dead Space 2 going for $10; Cheaper than the normal asking prices of last month's free PSN games.

And let's be honest here, if SCEA had offered Deus Ex rather than GCI, you'd have been bellyaching about how they're offering a game you already played.

Don't know it its already been mentioned, following on from my last post it seems EU gets some more stuff with new section on PS+.

PlayStation®Plus Presents is a European exclusive initiative which searches for the very best independently developed titles and allows them to be downloaded on the service at no cost for eight weeks after launch.

First game to be available for free is Retro/Grade on August 22nd, they have also signed with Ripstone games, Knytt Underground, Big Sky Infinity and another game to be announced.

That's one of the most curious things about PlayStation Plus. Stuff like Just Cause 2 sells for as little as $2.50 on PC when it goes for sale on Steam and Amazon Digital. There's an impression that retail titles offer more value, but in reality, recent digital only titles like The Walking Dead probably cost more to obtain for inclusion. In any case, the case for the US in August hasn't even been written yet. We're getting 2 more PS1 games and 2 more retail and/or digital games, based on what they've said is expiring.

I haven't played it on PS3 so I could have played it again for trophies. And even if I did it's a far more interesting game than all of these shit PSN games, excluding walking dead (which I DO have).
