PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

I think it's only natural that the selection will differ between regions. If a game sold really poorly in Europe, but publishers want much greater exposure with the IP, then they can do that. Maybe Capcom wants to help boost RE visibility in Europe ahead of RE6? In the US RE5 Gold could still be selling well, and wouldn't be considered for Plus.

Just a hypothetical example, but I think the point should be clear. Just because one gets it, doesn't mean the others automatically always will. Blitz in the US makes sense, and I wouldn't ever expect it for EU for obvious reasons.

I can understand that... and I don't think they should necessarily have to put up the same content. But I do think they should aim for value parity. And I just don't see how you make the case for SCEA matching the EU on value. Especially when you consider how they lag behind in services too.

I think PS+ is still worth the investment either way... but they are getting their butts handed to them by SCEE. It's not even close.

Really sweet update for those who haven't played RE5/Bulletstorm, but since a enjoyed both of them at the time of the release i was rather underwhelmed. Still i'm interested in "Hell Yeah... " - is it any good or shouldn't i even bother downloading it?

RE5 Gold is nice because it comes with some DLC. The Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape DLC isn't super long (imo they are comparable to a normal chapter in the game) but they are well done and quite enjoyable.

Then you have some competitive modes (which I never got into, poorly implemented imo) and the revisited mercs mode with new characters.

So if you just played RE5 vanilla, there might still be reason to DL RE5 Gold.

Nah, thanks for the heads-up but i barely liked the game in the first place, would never bother to replay it.

Do the collected and upgraded weapons carry over from the main game or is the DLC completely separate?

I think it's a pretty rad game, lots of variety and personality, lots of art and music, great controls. If you don't want to just give it a shot, watch the Giant Bomb Quick Look. It's what sold me on the game.

Because it's NFL season and the dumbfuck monkeys in charge of PS+ probably think that makes it more appealng to subscribers.
When in reality no one wants Blitz because its awful but who cares its some more PSN shovelware to boost their free games count. Fuckin SCEA, thanks for the Tokyo Jungle discount, but I can't wait for my sub to end.

They are separate. You find weapons throughout the playthrough, and the weapons found (and enemies encountered) change with difficulty.

One of them is more puzzle/atmosphere oriented, the other is pure action based. Imo, they are both worth going through if you enjoyed RE5 vanilla.

Not sure if it's worth a long-ass DL... especially if you pay for bandwidth... but I thought they were fun otherwise. And both missions are Jill's!

Ah, that's perfect. Not sure if I want to play through the main game again but will definitely download (no bandwidth cap here) it for the DLC if I can just jump in without any disadvantage.

Actually, my theory about EU being better goes a bit deeper and more thoughtful: I'm thinking that Europe is the next big battlefield for the console manufacturers. Nintendo seem to be acting more aggressively in Europe (Xenoblade, anyone?), and I'm thinking that Sony are following suit via Plus.

It makes sense to me. For one thing, Xbox is very dominant in the US right now, and both S&N might think that Live makes it much harder to get those people to move away from that system in the coming generation. Live is a much weaker prospect in Europe, though, with fewer additional features, and no manufacturer is truly dominant here; Sony has a slight edge, but I'd argue that it's not an edge to the extent of Microsoft's in the US.

I suspect everyone will be hitting Europe particularly hard - in a (mostly) good way - next gen.

No interest in Bulletstorm and I already played RE5 Golden.

Still maybe this will give my time to get through my PS+ backlog.

Now I can finally play the deus ex missing link DLC and get back intro LBP2 after I lost my box copy.

So instead of improving their US offerings, they'd rather fuck us over and just focus on Europe? Sweet! Sounds like a terrific strategy, I can see it doing well for them.

At this point the US store is just getting embarrassed.

On content and services, they're getting handled. Well played, EU. You folks got the raw end for a long time, so revel in your recent victories. This shit is a blow out. I think US side needs a coaching change. Or to put in Tim Tebow. Maybe he can pray for help or something.

no, you are wrong.
I can agree that the EU PSN plus service is better at the moment but on general content and services the US Store beats the crap out of the EU Store.

You're getting this wrong. SCEE and SCEA are separate entities, each one is focusing on their own territory. Pretty sure each one of them is handling these game deals on their own and it's not a joint effort by Sony.

I think i am going to stop the US PS+ because it offers nothing but garbage or shit i already own. Anyone know where to get EU PS+ cards?

If there was no Europe to compare to, no one in this thread would be whining. Take a look what you spend and what you get, and if you don't think it's a good deal, stop buying the service.

Now you know how 360 owners in most part of Europe feel when paying for LIVE. (I have them both for the record).

I downloaded Borderlands last night & got Tokyo Jungle with a discount. This was after playing some God of War I with a cloud save I copied from my PS3 at my old apartment.

Sucks to be me, I guess.

Silly question, but if I get PS+ do I get access to only the current month's free games or all the free games for previous months? Like, would I still be able to download Walking Dead (provided I keep my PS+ going)?

You don't get access to the games that have already gone off (no Walking Dead) but you keep access to them forever as long as you maintain your subcription

US PSN is better at EVERYTHING else. Let us EU folk have something, too. As long as SCEE and SCEA are separate entities and each do their own thing without coordiniation, stuff like this will keep happening. It has been like this since 2007.

yeah we get it... no one should ever criticize or compare PS+ offerings.
Yeah! I mean, say what?

We all knew yesterday that today would be a bloodbath. I'm just enjoying the scene.

The sense of entitlement people harbor is unfortunate. I'm perfectly fine with my US PS+ subscription, and have no intention of leaving it. :)

Criticism is fine, but the petulant whining is more than tiresome and totally unwarranted. Things like "we're being FUCKED over by SCEA" is just nonsense, and I'm not going to stop calling people out on it.

Guess what? If I were being "fucked over" by PS+, I wouldn't buy it.

I wonder why the offerings are so different. It probably isn't due to lack of trying. Maybe third parties in Europe are just more willing to make their games free? Maybe US publishers expect more money? Maybe there are just more PS+ members in Europe?

Who knows the reason, but it would definitely help to know why it is the way it is.

If that were the case they could start by making Motorstorm: Apocalypse free (they're instead asking $60 for it, haha).

SCEA is just a complete mess.

Anyone know if RE6 went up early for US PSN? Wouldn't mind downloading it while at work today.

Despite vaguely teasing it a few days beforehand, they didn't actually do midnight release... so now we wait. It could go up any time, maybe even after midnight eastern time. But do not mention anything about this being unprofessional, as you might be labeled an entitled, petulant whiner.

"Day 1" release! (possibly, maybe... certainly if you're on the west coast)

In this case maybe they didn't do a midnight release to give people time to cancel their pre-orders with customer service. :p

Those damn entitled gamers, what do they expect for $50/year? Be happy you're even getting Blitz!

Well it's like $4.17 a month. And we're getting Blitz, two unannounced games we don't know yet, and some discounts.

And next month they're adding Vita to that.

Did you grab Walking Dead episode 1 & 2 last month? I'm waiting for four to release before I buy 3 ($10 more towards that $100 PSN deal).

I keep forgetting we're getting a second console added to the benefits package... for no added cost.

Entitlement, lol

Sony's divisions are competing against each other, guess its only fair that Sony fans are arguing against each other too

Holy shit that is fucking amazing. Hell Yeah is a new game too and RE5 Gold and Bulletstorm are both great retail games.

Fuck SCEA really. US PS+ looks so sad compared to the amazing EU PS+

Also entitlement is the worst word on this forum.

I keep forgetting we're getting a second console added to the benefits package... for no added cost.

We'll see if they can keep the same level of PS3 releases with added Vita stuff now or if they'll just cut back on the PS3 stuff, which would make it worse for me since I don't want to buy a Vita.

Of course with the US PS+ standard of releases lately I suppose no cuts are necessary.
