Either that or Sega of America feels there's too much racing competition on PSN (PSN also has GTI+ Club, Burnout Paradise, Wipeout HD, Fatal Inertia, etc.).

And we don't have these in Europe? :lol

That's a real bummer we don't have Outrun in the US. Seriously SEGA wtf

.

Agreed. I was hoping to pick that up this afternoon. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to another lackluster week on the US PSN. If it were not for the Valkyria DLC I probably wouldn't even bother visiting the store.

ffXiii demo on US psn today would be nice

some people would be pissed :lol
Knowing Square, the most likely scenario is a PC demo in Korean only, and it'll require a valid Konami ID to download the download manager that will allow you to download it. thing.

Have a fun! Enjoy!
- Eden Encore is amazing as expected.

- Outrun Arcade Online runs perfectly at 1080p. (also adopts RE5 XMB-integrated Invite System)

- My kid loves the LBP (free) monkey costume.

Pretty awesome update thus far.

Is Encore actually better than the first one or just more of the same? I liked the first one but after a while I stopped playing and lost my motivation...

Ferrari licensed games are just way more popular in Europe. I remember when Sega of Japan wasn't going to bring Outrun 2 to consoles and neither was Sega of America. It was Sega of Europe who stepped in, had Sumo Digital handle the port (to the original Xbox), and release it (they did because of the popularity of Ferrari in Europe, or what I heard). Microsoft/Sega just published the game in NA after it came to Europe.

I just see it as Ferrari brand just being more popular in Europe as to why they got it for PSN and why NA did not (also, PS3 does have the majority of its userbase in Europe).

I picked up Astro Tripper today. Videos looked cool and its only $4.99 so I figured why not!

Hopefully their is a pixeljunk eden bundle.

I just checked the Noby Noby Boy stats again, and that thing keeps on ... I want to say "growing", but I probably shouldn't. Anyway. On average 3000 new people experience the calamities of real-time peristaltics every week. 63405 ranked players right now. It doesn't seem to be slowing down at all, which may be explained in part by its appearance in the "spring fever" promotion, but it's still worth noting.

Was half expecting/hoping to see the SingStar update live by now. Is it even coming out in North America today? I tried my UK copy using my UK account too. Weird.

I'ma be in poop tonight if that doesn't go up. My wife got all excited when I told her about trophies and picked up beers and such.

It's more of the same in the way that Eden was. Each garden is different and adds new elements to the game.

I've gotten 10 out of the 25 spectra so far and I'm loving it. For €3 this just feels like stealing. At first I was a bit worried that they didn't have any creativity left to come up with new and exiting mechanics but garden 14 proved me wrong big time. Garden 11-13 are also very solid and have excellent presentation and also present some great new scenarios. Can't wait to see what Garden 15 holds in store for me, and of course what that new way to play the original game is after getting all the spectra. :D

It's almost useless even saying it anymore but a third party higher profile PSX game (Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy VII, hell even Klonoa) would end my personal PSN spending freeze. I won't even buy Eden Encore until they get their shit straight with their PSX updates.

Why punish PSN game makers for something that isn't even their fault, doesn't make any sense at all.

Because I refuse to give Sony any more money until they actually give me what I want the most?

It's my fucking money.

Dear GAF,

Please buy 5 copies of Suikoden I from the PSN and petition Sony and Konami to release Suikoden II on PSN in English.

I'd seriously never go THAT far if there was stuff I wanted in the store.

John from Capcom basically explained it himself once at the PSBlog why we don't see many PS1 stuff. It's the same time Street Fighter Alpha was added in the store
When developers first created games on the PSone, not many companies accounted for their games being ported in the digital space, 10 to 13 years later. The reason why you don’t see too many games on the PSone classics right now is because there are so many legal and licensing challenges for the developer. It’s possible that the developer no longer owns the IP, or the rights to the music, voice overs, images, etc.
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008...oday-on-the-psn/comment-page-1/#comment-98744

In Japan it's not as big of an issue as the U.S., where people are likely to sue for anything if they haven't agreed on it (like those with voice acting, music, etc.). Making the game for PS3/PSP is the easy part, but its the licensing that kills it. There was another comment Noel from SCEA made about the ESRB.org PS1 game listing situation, which mentioned something about the ESRB will list games they try to license, but many times unexpected licensing issues hold them back, wish I could remember when it was posted. With how cheap downloads sell for, there just isn't much potential profit for all the headaches publishers have to go through to get the games in the store.

Anyway, I expect this week to be slow due to lack of announcements (mostly just DLC). We might have a surprise demo, but if we do, it's probably a game that has been out for a bit.

Did they ever give VC trophies?

:\

Nope, Nonaka and friends are busy with promoting the Valkyria anime and the Best release (which has the Edie dlc already on the disc iirc, that's why there is a disclaimer about the that dlc not working with the Best version), given his comments about wanting to do a sequel, they are probably not working on that at the moment (I'd like to assume they are actually working on Sakura Taisen 6 for PS3 currently XD).

Pretty good week on the european PS Store this week :) I bought the Magic Ball DLC, PixelJunk Eden Encore and Outrun. And i have enjoyed all of these 3 things so far :)

And the size of the first garden in Eden Encore is pretty big i must say. I has something like
120
seeds that you can open. Did any other garden in the original Eden have this many seeds that you could open?

Seeing how little time I've given the Store recently, and being extremely lazy, I think I'd quite like a "Your Store" tab or something. Somewhere you'd get recommendations (although you'd need a ton more content for it to be useful), based on past purchases and most importantly for me stuff you haven't purchased or even browsed.

Perfect example is... I didn't even know about Outrun. Is it worth it? For someone who played the "original" on the C64.

i knew final fantasy 7 wasn't coming to the US this week, but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt not seeing it :(

maybe it'll be a Qore exclusive, heh

I would've grabbed Eden today if they had bundled it with Encore and knocked a couple bucks off...
$16 is a bit much.

Another week, another shitty US store update...

Congrats to all the UK'ers that got Outrun today.
Enjoy. ;P

While I don't doubt that is true, Nintendo manages to get at least one game up on the VC a week with titles that are even older than PS1 games. Anything internally developed by Nintendo probably doesn't have licensing issues (except Earthbound, apparently :p), but there's so much third party stuff up there that I can't see these legal issues being insurmountable.

If nothing else Sony should be able to get at least a game up a month, right? Especially in the year they claimed they would refocus on PS1 on PSN releases?

Ugh.....The VC add on content is the very definition of price rape. :(

Yeah the JP pricing was much more fair(?). The Edy thing is only mission while the Selvaria one is multiple missions so why would they both cost the same?? And charging for a difficulty mode is also dumb lol
