I'm lazy and having to go through the reset thing was seeming like a right pain in the arse, plus reseting all your Near data, trophy things was a bit of a pain. Yes, there's no real reason to have two machines, but hell - gives me double battery life as well.

#boggle - hold on, let me think this through. No, when you try and transfer a game that you bought from Region B with your Region B sub account, the transfer isn't possible. The Vita tells you you have to sign in with the machine that matches the account associated with the card. So you are only going to be ever able to earn trophies for each sub level account. You can't like sub level to master level for trophies

yup, i'm going to have two seperate accounts (DCharlieUS is the second one :)) - i don't really care about trophies or achievements any more so it's not really a concern for me. I'm more interested in being able to snag cheaper US games on day of launch via DD than anything :D

Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, this is one of the reasons I'm sticking to physical releases for 100% of my Vita games. I like building up my trophy level and having access to my friendslist which is on my JP PSN account. So at worst, I guess I'll lose out on the trophies from US PSN-only games.

Might pick up a 2nd Vita down the line, but I don't see myself switching between stores often, so will try to manage with one for a while.

So when you change accounts, it deletes ALL the data on your memory stick? So say you have a JP account and you're playing the US Uncharted Vita on it, but then some DLC comes out for it on the US store. I'm guessing the only way you can play that DLC is to play Uncharted Vita (physical) on your US account since when you download the DLC on your US account and then change to your JP account to resume playing Uncharted (physical) it will delete all your DLC in the process and you won't be able to use it.

I can see the above kind of sucking if you buy a US physical game, play through it on your JP account to earn trophies with your master trophy list; then DLC comes out and to use it you have to play on your US account and you lose your save game in the process. Wait, does the system delete your saves games when you change between accounts? Because unlike DD games that you can always re-download...you'd be screwed if you lost your save files...

The game boxes were smaller than I expected ,and the memory cards are nearly invisible. Cart wise, it feels like a several years later update to the N-Gage carts.

I agree with the whole convex issue (I'm still not sure why Sony is releasing sticks this way) and don't like the range of motion but they are still the best feeling portable analog sticks out there night now. Circle pad feels a helluva lot better than PSP, I'll give you that.

The PSP nub was horrible with no range and awkward positioning and the 3DS analog is only slightly better as the sliding around is awkward and the lack of resistance and lack of elevation sucks. I'm finding it hard to believe the Vita sticks are not an improvement to both. Sad that no one can just stick a X360 analog on a portable machine and call it a day.

I want a portable gaming device where holding it feels just like I'm holding a X360 controller or a PS3 controller but with a screen built in.

I've never played a Hot Shots Golf game, but I'm thinking about trying out the Vita version.

The only golf games I've ever liked before were the Mario Golf games, and I also enjoy golfing IRL. Think I'd enjoy this series?

HSG is a great series. The game looks very lighthearted, but underneath it there's a very sophisticated golf engine. Very easy to learn but tough to master.

Plus there should be a good NeoGAF online community to play with. It's my main reason for buying a Vita.

If the sticks are like the ones I used on Gamestop's demo unit, then the resistance is way too low. Low resistance + low range of movement = overshooting everything.

Still, it's 2 legit sticks on a portable...I'm sure I'll get used to it.

There's no way concave analogs would've worked for me on this machine. The fact that it's convex helps with the comfortability.

I wonder how many people are going to just bite for the FEB now that the anticipation levels are near insane high?

I am. I cannot hold out any longer. A combination of this thread and then vita titles appearing on PSN have made me give in. I was originally going to get the wifi system and I am not even really that interested in Little Deviants. Damn you Sony!

Agreed. Also, developers will get more used to them as well and I'm positive by the time 2nd generation games hit this will be close to a non issue.

1) The Dreamcast had a removable device with a screen in it's controller (if you bought the device. Was a bit odd.
2) I can't imagine a sleek, or sexy portable design with a normal sized stick on it, or even a sleek or sexy controller looking design for a portable.
3) I can understand where you're coming from, however, I think this is all about portability and design decision.... even if the Vita isn't the ideal in portability. I think this is a great compromise in a hand held gaming system, and a controller. It's not going to please everyone.

I thought I would ask in here;
I have prepared a thread with a list of Developers and their current projects which will be constantly updated. Right now I have more than 140 developers, but I don't know if I have missed anyone, particularly from the PS Vita, 3DS and PC market -

Are anyone up for looking through my list and tell me if someones missing or if any projects are missing, before I post the thread?

Sorry if this has been covered, but do the disgaea and prinny games work on the vita?

gamestop has download codes for them all on sale and I am thinking about jumping on them.

So I set up my Vita while waiting for the rice cooker to finish.
It took like 10 minutes, including a firmware update, to be set up and on PSN.
The memory card was a little tricky to get in.

I'm really liking the buttons and stuff so far.

Are there no demos on PSN for Vita games? I can't find any. I can only find games to buy.
And is there any way to exit one of the sections without pressing the PS button? It seems the only way is to press the button and then flip the page downwards.

It kind of sucks the stand by time is 1, 3, and 5 minutes. 5 minutes is a really short time for home use. I wish I could set it higher.
Screen looks really nice. It's like my Cowon S9 screen, but bigger.
I think I'll check out some of the Welcome Park stuff during the downtime while I prep food.

I'm on PSN right now. I wonder if it differentiates me as being on the Vita for the people on my friends list?

Also, the Vita is so huge. My hands are too small to hold the system and touch at the same time. I'll have to figure out how to do this.

So when you change accounts, it deletes ALL the data on your memory stick?

if you only have one memory card - it will tell you you can only use the memory card if you format it to match the new account. With two accounts you don't have this issue, just you get all your trophy notifications again , near data gets reset, etc

Wait, does the system delete your saves games when you change between accounts? Because unlike DD games that you can always re-download...you'd be screwed if you lost your save files...

if you format the card obviously it will, but no - switching doesn't remove save data from accounts as it's on the mem card IF you use multiple cards

Note that i got a japanese wifi model new for 19,980 yen which is a good 5000 yen below what it should be (as it appears 7-11 are just dumping their units off and getting out of selling the hardware). I also already had a second 32 gig card so...

plus - play-asia for games would mean an extra $5 over RETAIL prices, plus fast delivery of $15 and the Vita should quickly pay for itself in DD only sales (plus, no waiting for games! yippee! and... double battery life... sort of... if you've a twisted mind like mine ;) )

So can games be easily redownloaded? Is there an easy to access games list like Steam? Or do I have to browse through a disorganized download history?

I'm planning on buying singleplayer story focused games through physical, and pick up and play games (like Hot Shots Golf) through digital.

Why oh why did they ditch (a refined) nub for these toddler sized convex analog sticks? The protrusion makes them uncomfortable/unnatural to use, there's way too little resistance and range of movement, and they're so fucking tiny. Circle pad is objectively superior to these, I have no idea how Sony thought this was a good idea. Are there any over sized clip on accessories (like the PS3 triggers)?

There is triggers atleast, dunno if there is anything for the sticks tough.

The most convenient way of putting games back on the Vita if you delete them is probably going to be copying them to your PC or PS3 after you're done.

Grabbed Hot Shots Golf and a 16GB card while I was out. Will wait for a 32GB card until they're reasonably priced. None of them are fairly priced, but I won't be content with a 4GB or 8GB either way.

Gotcha. So I need a 2nd memory stick for now.

I'd really like to hear impressions for some of the "lesser" games--in specific Army Corps of Hell, Escape Plan, Little Deviants, StarDrone, and Mutant Blobs Attack.

Yeah, definitely shoot it my way if you want. I'd love to look through it.

Hey, since the memory sticks are proprietary...how do you back them up/transfer your saves if you want to get a bigger card down the road?

People complaining about the throw of the right analogue stick, would it not work to turn down the sensitivity of that stick? Thus making smaller onscreen movements to compensate for the smaller actual throw?

I was kinda surprised to see that Amazon had already shipped ,ost of my games and the charging base this afternoon. Just have to wait til Wednesday for the Vita and MVC3.

Content Manager or PS3, I believe. Both have Vita data options on them, so I assume backing up saves is doable.

By the way anyone tried Army of Two? That game was sweet on psp.

Also thanks for looking into what I asked DCharlie. Appreciate it.

i did today as well, used credit so it didnt cost me a thing.

Amazon spammed my email earlier today telling me my games will be released on the 13th but now they've just sent me an email saying Wipeout has shipped. It'll probably be here tomorrow and if it is then maybe you guys can expect your games earlier than the 13th. I have release-date delivery btw.

yeah, Vita sticks feel quite a lot worse than a 360/PS3 controller, but I think it's an improvement over a slider. In a lot of ways the 3DS helped me see sliders could be alright (PSP one is atrocious); though playing RE:R, a game where fine aim in required, is convincing me otherwise.

What the Vita sticks really need is a ring, concave spot, or dimples for grip. PSP and 3DS have this same problem, even though the 3DS is slightly recessed. More resistance too. It was off putting when I first tried them. You barely touch the stick and it has already hit the edge.

The online codes are region locked so watch out for that.

are they locked on retail releases too? I'm still confused by this - say I bought a game cheap from a store here in Aus and wanted to play it online - would it not work on my US account? I thought the passes were only locked if you bought the game on PSN?

My guess is it's account based which DOES make sense. You're technically getting a DLC code, and that DLC isn't going to be on the American store, or it'll be under a different name/slightly different. For the sake of compatibility and whatnot they have to activate in the proper store.
