You can't hot-swap memory cards.

This. When you switch out a memory card on the fly, the system tells you that you shouldn't switch memory cards if there are programs running/system is on. When you place a new memory card in, the system restarts itself! Cautionary measures!

Don't know if this has been discussed, but I kept wondering about it. So I double dipped, and DL-ed it digitally (Even though I had it on UMD...)

Thanks, think I might double dip on all the GTA games. Is there any chance they are doing a loyalty scheme for us westerners like they did in JAP for people with UMD copies, I would ideally like to re-buy Resistance and GoW games too (damned physical media)

Has anyone tried transferring Valkyria Chronicles 2 from a PS3 to their Vita? Hopefully that's not one of the incompatible ones, as I want to play that game more than probably any Vita title.

All of the Vita stuff on amazon that had a date of the 9th has been changed to the 13th. Wonder why they changed it. I sure wish the would mess up on my FEB so I could get that tomorrow.

So when I get home today I should have an amazon box with GA, Wipeout 2048, Hot Shots and Sony Screen protectors.

Now I need to see if I can catch Best Buy, Target or WalMart slipping so I can get a FEB early.

This is going to be a long five days.

Army Corps of Hell has been getting some really bad reviews.

=[

Ya, I saw a couple too... 4.0 and 4.5 outta 10...

I might get it anyway, 'cause I love the idea and everyone says the soundtrack is awesome... a lot of the criticism seems to be that the game play is repetitive, but I've been hammering away at Devil's Crush on my TurboExpress for 23 years, and I'm still not bored of it - and that's just one pinball table three screens high with an awesome soundtrack! :)

That feel, when yesterday you wouldn't even imagine, that you would buy Vita on Day 1, and here you are with Vita WiFi + 8gb+ Uncharted all preordered.

That fucking feel.

GPS may not require a data plan, but to use apps like T@G you are still going to need some network access to download the tags, upload yours, find where they are located, etc. Don't expect to walk around downtown and use T@G on your 3G Vita without some kind of network access.

T@G looks like a pretty cool idea but it relies very heavily on people other than yourself actually using it out in public. If it was also available for android and iOS then I could see that happening, but as it stands...

I always thought location apps should be PS Suite titles but optimized and expanded on Vita. That way we can have a popular and richer experience on Vita.

Holy Hell, you don't know how happy this makes me. I never got the chance to play Vice City Stories and I never finished Liberty City Stories. Now all I need to be completely happy is for Chinatown Wars to work on that sexy system...

Edit: Thank you btw.

Cheers! I was just so happy to see this up and running- LCS + VCS are truly remarkable. It's really nice to have this on the Vita too, just playing it off the system will be wonderful!

How I wish! I'm thinking I'm definitely double dipping on The Warriors and Chinatown Wars too... It's crazy to think that I'm kicking myself for not buying a PSPGo. It would have made this so much more cost efficient! (Ghost of Sparta, Crush, Def Jam- all games I have UMD, and absolutely need on Vita!)

I'm glad to hear that the UMvC3 port not only turned out well, but that it also seems to have more features than the console ones.

On a not at all related note, is there an OT going up for Lumines soon?

Thanks, I expected that after the PS3 update that did the same for PSP titles :/
You could use the Content Manager Assistant to make a backup on your PC/Mac instead, although I think it might disappear too if you try to restore it back to the Vita.

I'm using my 32gb stick for Vita games and my 8gb freebie stick for PSP/videos. Anyone else doing something similar?
If I had two memory cards, I'd use the smaller one for my Japanese account.

Can you skip the account switching issues with a separate memory card? I thought you couldn't?

Definitely NOT- I just meant well hell, if you're going to go through the trouble (it's really not that bad, maybe 3 minutes or so) I'd like to have all the content for that account on one separate memory card in one place!

I dont know if you can do this with vita but can you download PSP and vita games through 3G service on ps store or do you have to use wifi

Aquired a 32GB card from EBGames at Chinook Centre yesterday. Didn't get to really play around with the console till this morning at work.

The screen is nothing short of amazing, pictures and off-screen video does not do it justice. It's simply amazing!

As far as games go, tried out Uncharted and Wipeout, both of which were pretty good.

Also tried out a PSP Game (P3P), which works well. Relaunching it from the background does prompt me that an update file has been downloaded for this app, but it doesn't appear to do anything. Probably a bug.

Guess I'll start picking some of the older games.

It still greatly increases the potential library of games. Lame that they are jacking up the prices though.

They aren't being raised, a lot of publishers just never drop the prices for digital games since they presumably don't see any incentive to do so (no physical copies to get rid of, no shelf space to worry about, etc).

Sony has no plans to do that for any other region, just Japan. Well, I guess SCEE might do it, but that seems pretty unlikely.

Has anyone tried the following PSP games on the Vita?

Capcom Classics: Reloaded; Killzone: Liberation; Pursuit Force; MGS: Graphic Novel; Patchwork Heroes

I know so far Twisted Metal: Head On and Portable Ops don't work, as per the OP. But according to a few other sources, PJ: Monsters Deluxe and Jeanne D'Arc work.
I have the first three and they all work on the Vita.

Quick question on the 3G models. Since they all have GPS is it possible to use that functionality to locate stolen systems? If so, I think every system going forward be required to include a chip.

Also, why don't developers use GPPO for all games to play via 3G? I know BlazBlue works over it and SFIII for PS3 uses it to give smooth experiences on my crappy 2Mbs connection.

Dang, looks like Ys I & II won't work from PS3 transfer according to the OP?

We should the list of games that unofficially do work from PS3 to Vita transfer that aren't listed on the Playstation Blog into the OP as well.

Wtf, just looked up the Persona games on PSN and they are all $39.99.

Yeah PSN pricing sucks for a lot of PSP games. I'm just going to buy the cheaper ones now and wait for the rest to go on sale. If they don't, no money from me!

Btw. what's up now with switching accounts with 2 memory cards?
Is it faster than with only one?

I'll get a 8GB card from amazon, but will buy also a 32GB.
So i would like to use the 32GB with my eu-account and the other one with my us-acc for us-only demos/games.

Are there any impressions on the maps app on Vita? Is it comparable to iPhone et al?

Yes. I posted a link a few pages ago. You can google for the article easily.

The author likes it because of the bigger screen and a few Vita enhancements.

Random questions about PSN on Vita.

1) If I am signed in to PSN on my Vita will it automatically sign me out of PSN on my PS3? (as it does if I sign in on one PS3 then switch to another)?

2) If I am playing a game on my Vita whilst signed in to PSN will it show to my friends playing on PS3? If so does that include PSP games whilst on Vita or just the Vita games?

Just interested as to how this is all handled by the two systems.

I agree. By only keeping track of the games that don't work, it's still a crapshoot for people who have no idea if someone has already tried the game that they are interested in, and they could end up wasting money (or at least end up waiting until the game is made compatible in the future).

1. No.

2. Not sure, ask my friends? :)

from what ive seen on the videos of the maps app, the application refreshes really slowly? when you zoom in, the whole map disappears and refreshes, i guess ive been spoiled by iOS and Android.

Replaced my 32GB memory card at EBGames this morning. Lucked into a very understanding sales rep willing to do a defective exchange on a product that has yet to officially launch.

Just as a heads up for the inevitable instance where some GAF thread explodes due to someone raging over the exact same thing, the text on the back of the replacement card was noticeably whiter and less faded than the one I purchased two days ago. There could be a bad batch of defective cards out there that will lead to some undeniable grief for you guys on launch week.

Have not tested out the system with the new card yet. Will provide details on that later this evening. Obviously, if the issues persist with the new card I'll have to go through the unpleasant task of replacing my pre-launch unit with Amazon but every issue I encountered with the system thus far was tied to memory card related functions. It otherwise runs applications smoothly, no fuss connecting online, etc... everything else runs super smooth like butter.

Incidentally, the Barrier Chief protector works incredibly well on the back of the system. Molded to fit the rear touchpad and wasn't that difficult to apply. I messed up something fierce applying the front so I'll probably still go with the Hori protector there... that's entirely due to me being a klutz applying these things.

just to confirm, the only difference in the 3G hardware is the 3G support (and sim slot), right?

traditionally I always bought the premium sku because of extras, but I really have no use for the 3G. still it's only $20 more than the wi-fi + an 8 gig.

It's arguably $35 if you intend on taking advantage of the "free" game since you have to sign a one month contract beyond the free trial period in order to qualify. Might as well just invest in a game or 16 GB card if you have no intention of using the 3G. That's what I did anyway when I realized the free game really wasn't free.

Cheers. Another question for you then. When you look at your PSN list from within the Vita does it show what PS3 games your friends are playing (I assume so)?

For some reason I am paranoid Sony will fuck up PSN integration and make it pointless.

It appears that Amazon US caught their mistake and changed the ship dates for their Vita stuff back to next week. Yesterday, the games and memory cards were saying that they were "In Stock."

I managed to complain and get them to ship my 32gb stick yesterday (should receive it today), but they changed my Uncharted back to Release Date delivery (15th).
