PlayStation VR2 |OT| I heard it has a single cable. Is this true?

Triple post kind of morning.

It's funny, I get PSVR2 and I'm like, "oh yeah, I forgot that I really like VR". It had been about a year since I last played. So now I'm playing PSVR more than PSVR2 cause Astrobot Rescue Mission is so incredibly good. It will truly be a total injustice if that game doesn't get converted over to PSVR2 😭. So glad I own both headsets though.

Nice, I feel a little left out only owning a PSVR2 and I have absolutely 0 plans of ever getting PS VR1, but I have faith though, I think we'll see another 5-10 PS VR bigger titles ported over. Even when I get a PC VR headset, that still wouldn't hep with those PS VR1 exclusives, so they just need to get to porting them up, it's the in thing to do these days anyway! Just keep re-releasing your games everytime there's new hardware lol.

They have to port Rescue Mission to PSVR2, I never played this game and I know for a fact that I NEED it. Don't let me down, Sony! Port all of your games to PSVR2 asap, ffs!

No joke. If either of you have enough disposable income to buy a used PSVR headset and camera, it is 100% worth it for that game alone. No need for Move controllers, it only uses DS4. You'd also have access to RE7 which also only utilizes the DS4. That's of course if it doesn't makes it way to PSVR2.

But yea, Astrobot really is THAT good. It's just damn fun and oozes charm throughout. It's honestly a Mario 64 type experience. The gameplay itself is super basic but the perspective just blows your mind and it's really engaging.

+1

Astrobot has nothing but good memories for me. I don't think I have smiled that much while playng a game for years and the soundtrack is perfect.

I have my PSVR 1 in storage for that game alone, just in case it doesn't get ported. I would be surprised if it doesn't get a port though.

The way everyone keeps talking about Astrobot... I've gone from being pretty cold on it to I can't wait to play it! I'd probably even pick it over Alyx at this point if I had the choice of either one to get announced next.

Really enjoying Call Of The Mountain. Far more than I thought I would. Probably one of the best VR games ever in terms of immersion. Jesus, it gets high up though!

Have you played RE8 VR yet? ;) Horizon was fun and looked great, but it's been on the sideline for me every since I've been slowly making it through RE8.

I thought astrobot was good but I wasn't as hot on it as everyone else. I think it was a great demonstration of how vr can even make a platformer better, but the game itself was pretty basic. Super high polish and creative in some ways but simple underneath.

Hell yeah Astrobot is the GOAT! I keep my PSVR hooked up so I can still play it.

Absolutely, gameplay is barebones but damn it feels good. It's the experience as a whole that makes it so special. So forgiving too with tons of checkpoints and infinite lives. Nice chill game to get lost in.

Played Runner again for a bit just now. Seriously, if you got $15 to burn and it won't set you back, check this game out.

The game is basically the clown motorcycle scene from Akira but you're shooting all kinds of shit. It's so awesome. Tough as nails too until you figure out various techniques.

Back to Village I go. I'm nearly at the end of Heisenberg's factory. This area is probably the coolest looking place for me so far. It's so intense, amazing what Capcom did.

Yep, playing both. Call Of The Mountain is a bit more immersive, as the graphics are better, and doesn’t suffer from the jank RE8 does in the bits that dont really work in VR. I played RE7 to death in VR though, so it’s not all that new an experience for me. Looking forward to how RE4 remake is implemented.

For real, this game is 10 out of 10. Not 9, not 9.5. Fucking 10.

Really felt as powerful as discovering full 3d movement in 1996, and EVERY level is incredible with so many brilliant ideas to use Vr

I assume you've made it in to the Castle in RE8? I thought Horizon was better graphically initially, but the more I played RE8 the more it impressed me and fairly quickly I found it to be far better than Horizon in most ways - except object interaction. Combat is better in RE8, the fights are more epic in RE8, and the overall detail of the environments are also better. From what I've seen and what other people who've played both RE7 and RE8 have said (a couple different popular streamers like the guy from PSVR without Parole and another guy playing the two games flat) - RE8 is an entirely different level visually from RE7. But - Horizon is more colorful for sure, and doesn't have those weird cutscene angles, but to be fair that's mostly an issue early on in RE8 when they're dropping the story, after the first few hours, they're pretty far apart to the point they don't even bother you anymore.

Yep. It looks very nice, but Horizon's graphical fidelity and level of immersion are higher - which you'd expect from a game developed for VR, instead of ported. I think it's only really secondary to Alyx at this point, which remains the high watermark of the genre. Combat in RE8 is much better, no doubt about that. But nothing in it quite compares to some of the climbing sections in Horizon in terms of spectacle. I now want an Uncharted VR game. That'd probably be the best mix of location porn and combat.

Hmm, I still don't agree, but perhaps it comes down to a preference of style - I'm much more enjoying the dark and dreary style of immersion from RE8 and variety of set pieces/characters there (Aloy outstanding). You're right the immersion from interaction is way better in an original VR game, but the immersion of being in the world of RE Village and being constantly hunted by deadly monsters is more immersive than Horizon for me. Even though it is Hybrid - or maybe because it is hybrid is why it looks so much more detailed and is a more typical game experience just in VR, so larger than life - which is what I'd love to see more off. The House of Beneviento on the cliffside with the waterfall looked more vertigo inducing to me than anything in Horizon. And again Horizon is something I really enjoyed, but I just enjoy RE8 VR more, I'm never really scared in Horizon, which is probably some of the difference in immersion for me.

If I could get AAA original VR games (not VR demos or semi-games like Horizon) I'd take that every time, especially RPGs, but that just isn't really happening in VR - and this is the strongest VR system on the market by a mile - except for $4000 PC VR systems, so I really do hope more hybrid games come out and take advantage of the massive difference in power between PS5 and standalone headsets like even the upcoming Quest 3 can't hold a candle against the PS5.

And people said it feature wise was comparable to headsets on PC closer to $1000+, they must be making a fucking fortune on those ones then! Lol

Edit: I wonder if that includes the sense controllers too? I mean most controllers DS6 included these days cost like $80 MSRP, if so that means the headset alone would only cost like $150 or something. Would be crazy if they could drop the price to $200 in the near future and announce a dozen AAA hybrid ports with the price drop, then we'd see some more people interested in trying it out!

That hardware profit means VR isn't going anywhere. Even if they only sell 5-10 million units that is enough to keep it going. That's more profit than most consoles have ever made considering most launch and continue to sell at a loss/break even for some time.
And considering PSVR2 is going retail soon(finally) it secures PSVR3 almost surely.

Even if this not include controllers manufacture costs of dualsense is only 18$ ;)

Whoa even if that bom estimate is low and doesn't include the controllers... That means the whole kaboodle could might only be $400 to make at a high estimate.

I think 2 times, they ran a heavy promotional sale for psvr1. I got the complete kit with moves, camera, and Skyrim for $250. I'm not expecting a permanent price drop for the retail launch or holiday, but they came run a deep temporary discount whenever they want.

I’m assuming the current price reflects the recouping of r&d and manufacturing costs as well as base price for the components.

Not a PSVR2 game but I bought Redmatter on PSVR last night in anticipation for the PSVR2 release of Part 2.

Really awesome game so far and graphics are super impressive. The controls though, oh Lord...😅🤣. They are truly awful with moving around and it is sloooooooow as balls. Seems like the developer erred hard on the side of caution with preventing motion sickness. Thankfully everything else makes up for it. The atmosphere and music is divine, really makes you feel like you're in some awesome sci-fi Spielberg movie.

Dude. It's so good. I finished it on Saturday and plan on doing hardcore sometime soon. I'm really looking forward to it cause first time through in VR, it's like you're still getting used to various things. I also realized that the aim assist was hampering me. It's the thing where the aiming kind of snaps to the center when you two hand guns. I turned it off out of curiosity right before the last boss and was like, Oh lord, I should have played this way the whole game 😅😅.

Heisenberg's Factory was the highlight for me. That area is simply stunning and those armored drill-arm enemies. So terrifying. Legit ducked out of pure instinct few times. Have the footage, need to make a clip out of it.

Also finished, Village and gt7 by far best currently available titles ;)

Just got done with Horizon Call Of The Mountain, and thought it was excellent. Drew me into that world far more than the regular games. I bounced hard off Zero Dawn because I thought the characters were stilted and dull, and the story was boring. Might have a crack at Forbidden West now though.

This is the type of game PSVR2 needs. A full length, story driven single player experience that can only be done in VR. I really think naughty Dog should look at doing an Uncharted VR game with Nathan Drake. I can see that being huge, using some of the same techniques that are in this game.

Hmm, RE8 is probably the better single player story driven experience, only it's not exclusive to VR like CotM. Even despite that, and CotM being a good game, CotM really does nothing to draw people in as a VR exclusive. IMO most people who haven't bought the system would judge CotM to be no benefit to buying in, it has a rep as a tedious climber/tech demo, even if that's only a half-truth, it isn't going to be the type of game to get gamers hooked in to VR - they want Alyx not CotM.

when I tried it, it had a LOT of aliasing, so that the resolution felt very low. It was very irritating.
But according to NXG the resolution seems to be pretty high...

Is that fixed OR does one ignore it after a while OR am I a chicken when I have problems with it?

I also noticed aliasing problem so quite suprising its high apparently.

Quite frankly, the aliasing is pretty obvious... But when I start to play, I quickly forget about it and get really immersed. I just can't stop prasing this game. Also, always thought the lower resolution with some sort of upscaling was the cause for the shimmering image. Guess I was wrong! 😂

It's weird, I think it's noticeable on certain things but other stuff looks great. Like the initial drop screen does, but it's still decently high resolution, the game definitely doesn't run native though, but if you go to your inventory and examine any weapon or item they looks very sharp to me.

Overall there's some aliasing, but I feel it's decently high resolution, and it never is anything that I find distracting while playing either.

Hey make a thread about a bunch of games coming out that don't hurt anyone and we can have another troll rodeo.
PSVR2 got 97 games upcoming and but AAA ain't one?

Too bad there's actually 1 or 2 AAA games in that bunch or it'd be accurate and the #1 troll comment, right behind no Alyx.

Finished Moss 1, played a little on psvr1 and now gave a chance with remastered version for psvr2. Firstly was little disappointed but went through it after finishing Village and Im very happy with my decision. Realy lovly game, with some interesting puzzles, very nice graphics (last boss fight is awsome) and little less interesting fighting with waves of enemies. 8/10 Now time for Moss 2, btw after playing Moss I think Diablo 4 would be awsome in vr.

Hmm some PSVR2 titles are being discounted. After the Fall is one of them (and Fantavision, like S Surfheart just said). What are your opinion on these games, ppl? I only tested After the Fall on Quest 2 and it is nice to play with friends, but how is the game on PSVR2? Is it blurry? Never played a Fantavision game before, so I have no idea of how it is on PSVR2...

I played around 20 hours of After The Fall and I really liked it. It really is VR Left4Dead, with great gunplay, great synthwave music, and a nice amount of content and unlockables.

With crossplay, its very easy to find players.

I definitely recommend it, especially at that price.
