Playtonic unveils Yooka-Laylee (Banjo Kazooie successor) [Kickstarter LIVE - Funded]

That snow pic...sweet mother of God.

I am so ready for this. I hope it breaks KS records (I know, it wont', but I can dream)

So Playtonic just posted a vine of the music on Twitter

I am so happy this is happening. I cant wait to see what the banjo people do considering how much has evolved in the platformer genre in the last decade.

General Kickstarter question:

Say I back $15 for a digital copy of the game............and later decide I want to back more. Will my donations accumulate toward a greater incentive, or does each incentive have to be one lump sum?
I did advance my pledge on another KS. Should work here too.

My hype levels are slowly rising...
If they're confirmed to be both female I'm pretty sure I'll back this and the last KS I did was Banner Saga

Ohhh, I quite like them! This looks like a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie for sure. Might be the first kickstarter I ever go in on.

I like the characters, the music is great, the animations are good, the wotld is colorfull, the concept arts are gorgeous

hopefully there will be a Wii u version too

Does the gender really matter all that much? I don't remember the fact that Kazooie was a female impacting the game all that much. Just seems strange for it to stir up so much speculation in a game where you play as animals who look the same whether male or female. Weird that Playtonic is playing so much into it too.

If you don't mind me asking, why is their gender such a deciding factor on whether or not you'd back it? Not trying to single you out or anything (anyone else with the same opinion could respond as well) but I'm just curious.

Female protagonists are good marketing buzz at the moment in the indie scene. They'd be dumb not to play it up.

It's definitely a subjective thing, but i personally disagree about the bolded, i think Kazooie being female enhanced her role as the sarcastic overtly rude one opposing Banjo's laid back straightman role.

Can't really tell you, I just prefer it for some reason. The all-male party of FF XV for example is really off-putting. It's also quite rare and should be rewarded.

A bat? Hnnnng. Day one. Hope one of them is a girl, doesn't really matter who.

Edit:

I am personally just tired of 90% of video games having boys as protagonists. So the gender* of the main character(s) is definitely important to me. Of course that isn't enough for me to decide if a game is worth buying or not, unless it is a RPG like FFXV, which I am never ever playing because of the dumb all male cast.

*Gender AND design. A girl protagonist wearing skimpy clothes equals nothing to me.

It's beautiful.... all of it (especially the music snippet).

This will be the first kickstarter that I will support. Hopefully it all turns out well for this game

Not that I care but if they are both female it would be pretty fun if they both are talking shit lol. Kazooie ribbing people made the dialogue in the games fun. I didnt understand before when I was a kid but when I played Tooie some years back when it came out on XBL it was the best thing ever lol

Oh my god that footage represents just the type of game I've been wanting to see this generation. That style! That openess! That roll move!

Really loving the name too. So clever and instantly has a nice ring to it. Yup, so far it seems like they're doing and saying all the right things.

You might want to mention that this is the BK spiritual successor in the OP. I had to google Playtonic to figure out who they were, tho I had a hunch by the art.
