please explain to me what was added to Halo2 this year - the difference between the free maps for download on Xbox Live and the $20 map-pack.

It was just for people that didn't have xbox live. It's the same thing except for a couple of short movies and a sound test with a grunt.

Leewan hit it. The map pack is the same maps released via XBL, just on a physical medium, for those that aren't on Live.

and there's some bonus content on the map pack disk... some documentary or something like that...

ahhh I see. well anyway, i finally bought Halo2 (yes a year+ later) and am in the process of d/l the 3 sets of maps that are currently available. thanks for the info guys.

Also, a selling point of the map pack was that when it was released you could have all the new maps ASAP, or wait for them to be released over Live!.
