Wait so you're not using use Ritalin for ADD - just your addiction to the drug itself? I'm curious about that diet now.
Yeah, I use it like coffe now. I don't need it for ADD, but it is a really powerful stimulant. Much better than coffee without the mess.
The problem is after about a few days using it the effects of stimulation goes down and you begin to need it to have normal energy levels.
Ritalin withdrawal isn't fun. The first couple days are terrible. You're so sluggish you can't do the simpliest tasks. I wouldn't recommend driving much. You sleep a lot more and still wake up tired. You can get kind of moody.
My diet is basically whole foods and a couple of supplements.
My supplements are very high quality general supplement and fish oil.
Fish oil contains the omega 3 fat DHA, which has been linked with brain health several times. This is a fat source that our bodies cannot produce. It needs it in raw form. This is the stuff that's in human breast milk if the mother has enough in her diet. This is why breast feeding is important. Studies are coming out suggesting the lack of it causes all of these brain disorders in the past few decades (ADD, allergies, depression, etc).
You may wonder why this wasn't a problem in the past. That's because in the past livestock was allowed to roam around freely and eat their natural food sources. Now they sit around in confinement and are forced to eat grains. Doing this alters the fat content of the animals from omega 3 to saturated (more heart disease...).
So in the past people would get it from beef and chicken and other common foods. Nowadays it's only found in stuff like walnuts, wild fish, and various seeds. Not in your typical diet is it?
Here are my supplements. If anyone knows of better supplements, I'd like to know.

What's special about their fish oil is that it's caught in pratically unpolluted waters near New Zealand.
This company also makes supplements specifically for stuff like ADD, allergies, and depression called the Neurological formula. As a college student, I can't really afford it comfortably, but I've found that my current diet and supplementation works well enough.
As for my diet, here's some of it:
Arnold whole grain 12 grain bread
peanut butter
cheerios
baked chicken
lean beef
whey protein (for weight lifting)
strawberries
bananas
blueberries
grapes
yogurt
pistachios
peanuts
caschews
almonds
walnuts
spinach
broccoli
bell peppers
various onions
sweet potatoes
milk
green tea
water
etc. I will eat pizza and stuff occasionally. I'm not a saint.
This kind of diet also more or less prevents you from gaining body fat because the GI of each food is generally low. But it doesn't leave you hungry at all.
