Pokémon Go |OT 3| "No Officer, I'm a Passenger"

I wonder if there is anything special after zapdos. Probably mew or mewtwo will be saved for the holidays and hopefully gen 3 by Christmas.

Where can I find out about how exactly Raids work, making sure people enter your raid room, setting up private rooms, the Code thingy that appears at the top, what happens if you don't beat the Pokémon in time, etc. Thanks!
Edit: Oh and the times raids start and stop appearing. I'm gonna do my own research but I'm sure someone here has the info available, so that'd be great.

To answer your specific questions:

If there's less than 20 people around (20 is the maximum size of a room), generally you don't have to worry about rooms or the code at all. If you just click the begin button you'll all automatically be paired up, and you'll be able to see the list of people in your room while you set your team and whatnot. If there's more than 20 people, you'll sometimes have groups splinter into their respective teams so that everyone gets the maximum team bonus at the end (you get a limited number of balls to catch the raid boss, and bonus balls are given for team contribution, your team owning the gym, and how much damage you've contributed). If your group does decide to use private rooms for one reason or another, you just click the private button and select the three Pokémon icons and that's it, so it's quite simple.

If your team doesn't beat the Pokémon in time, you'll be able redo the raid as many times as you want until the raid despawns, without spending another raid pass. If your team gets wiped out during the raid, but the rest of the team is still going, you can rejoin (and quickly heal your Pokémon beforehand if need be/there's enough time), though you'll lose your damage bonus at the end. So if there's enough people there that they can easily finish without you, it's best to just stay dead, then reenter after they've defeated the Pokémon to collect your rewards and attempt to catch the raid boss. If they're going to cut it close, then it's best to sacrifice your bonus and just go for it.

Raid times for the day seem to differ slightly in certain time zones from what I've seen, but it generally seems to be around 5am-ish (maybe a little later) to 7 or 8pm-ish. Somewhere around those times at least.

Also: Never use Blissey in raids, even though people will be doing it and the game will place them on your team. They're about as powerful as Horsea, so they're just dead weight. It's better to have a full team of 6 powerful attackers to maximize your damage, and then just either rejoin or wait out the rest of the battle depending on how it's shaping up.

So same deal as last time? Zapdos unavailable until all but the West coast can still do raids?

Mountain has time too, as well as maybe the tail end of Central. It doesn't matter though. While the West Coast has time to get it on the first day, it'll still run longer on the final day for the East Coast. In the end everyone gets exactly the same amount of time.

Gotcha! Thank you for that handy guide, it's pretty helpful and pretty much sums up all the answers I needed regarding raids. Just one last thing: So after 8 pm (seems to be the case in my timezone) no more raids will spawn, that means that a raid could spawn at 7:59 pm and stay active till 9:59 pm, right?

Sorry, I meant they end around that time. At least, here they do. I've seen people in other countries say they have raids lasting until 10 though.

Oh, in that case then yeah, seems like there won't be more raids active after 8 pm in my zone. Will be on the lookout tomorrow, definitely want to catch Lugia before it goes away. Gonna have to see which Pokémon I can use for it.

I did the AR trick with Legendary and indeed was easier to hit. Once in AR mode, tilt up. Still ran away, but at least could curve it correctly.

these events should be world wide really feels like niantic has no idea what they are doing and do shit at random

It actually feels like Niantic learns from their mistakes? Instead of having (as they previously announced) one single-day event in very few cities in Europe, at a specific location in the city, they are now instead expanding a similar event to a longer time period and to a wider area in the city, and to many more cities - to avoid things like what happened in Chicago.

Got my 200th Fighting Pokémon so that is another medal wrapped up. Steel (121/200) and Dragon (27/200) to go. So basically I need a good Magnemite nest and 200 years to finish up the remaining medals.
I also did my first Moltres raid. First ball, immediately caught. Managed an 'Excellent' Curve Ball. It is only 'strong' but it was mainly to be less nervous tomorrow when I'm going out with friends.
I'm at 234 out of 240 now. Hope to get a Lugia tomorrow, Unown and Kagaskhan somewhere next week. Going to be fun.

Is it dangerous now to log into a third party site to check all of your Pokémon IVs? Is there any site that does that left? Want to check a few mons but no way I'm checking 600+ one by one.

I did that and can understand why you wouldn't want to do that :D

I've done it before too, and it's an Herculean task I'm not willing to put myself through again. It'd be great if Niantic offered their own alternative as a site where you can log in and check all that stuff, it'd actually be helpful to introduce newcomers to the concept of IVs (which exist in the main games too), but I guess that's too much wishful thinking.

This game... it refuses to give me another item. The times I don't forget and hit 7 stops a day in a row, I've gotten 4 Up-Grades. Nothing else.

The only items I've gotten not from the bonus is two Metal Coats.

Please give me something else next week... Please...

I've heard people have been shadowbanned for three weeks before Unowns and Kangaskhans started appearing lol

Lol, yes. You will get shadowbanned. Might get lucky and not get banned. But why take the risk?

If you have Android. Use Calcy IV app.

Today felt nice. I was able to hit both of Moltres and Lugia with curve balls no problem. Took it smooth and more slowly and worked. Both still ran away which stings. But I have plenty and not like I needed them.

Also, I now have over 400 candies! Zapdos couldn't come soon enough. Unless I get a very high iv right away, I'll need to wait an extra week to see which to finally level up. I'll probably have 450 candy by then. Lol
