Pokémon Go |OT 3| "No Officer, I'm a Passenger"

Lol, you need to start raiding more. I live up in Roswell, and when legendaries came out I saw over 60 people at Roswell City hall doing the Lugia Raid.

I usually see over 30 different people a day from raids and just in general haha

If you see people with a powerbank connected to their phones you can be 99% sure they're playing :D

Thanks guys. I've actually never played the game but I appreciate the info, I'm really glad it's been such a sensation.

After being 0/7 on Moltres, I'm now up to 3/12. I'll take a 25% rate.

I did give up on the curveballs though. Straight throws just seem to be better against it.

statistically curveballs are way better if you can hit them consistently i would say practice unless its a way higher cp one you really want.

I mean obviously I'd need to practice more but realistically Moltres is the only one I have issues throwing a curveball at. So if a straight throw gives me an actual percentage to catch it vs 0% from not even hitting it, I'm going to stick to straight throws.

A "git gud" argument only works if Moltres didn't cost a raid pass to practice on lol.

Took out a whole gym ... :\ I felt proud.
You know what feels good? Trying to take down a gym and when you're almost done a raid boss shows up. God why did they remove the countdown, if they don't bring it back after Zapdos week is over I'll go nuts.

They already brought it back.

EDIT: No, it isn't back. They egg just appeared briefly :(

There is an interesting discussion going on at /r/theSilphRoad about a possible bug with catching raid bosses on the last ball. Mainly, that it's impossible.

Here is the thread, where someone posted a video of a Magikarp raid. He/She threw away all the balls except for the last one, which didn't catch the pokemon even with a great throw and a golden razz berry. This shouldn't happen as according to this calculator in this particular case it should result in 100% catch rate.

But I had several Raids where it took till the last ball to catch it. Coincidentally one of those was a Magikarp raid as well.

Critical catch? Yeah, I've heard about people catching legendaries on their last ball. The problem is no one has produced any proof yet. No video.

The replacement 'rare Pokemon event' for the shopping centre thing in Europe is pretty good, details here: http://pokemongolive.com/en/post/europesightings

We’ve heard that as early as this weekend, some Pokémon rarely seen in Europe, including Kangaskhan and Unown, may begin appearing in certain European cities. This unusual occurrence is predicted to last until August 21. Keep your eyes peeled if you’re in one of the cities listed below, because this may be a great opportunity to add some additional Pokémon to your Pokédex.

While you’re out looking for these Pokémon, consider stopping by your local Unibail-Rodamco shopping center. In addition to being a great place to find these Pokémon, we’ve heard that Lure Modules will be activated at many PokéStops found at these locations throughout the weekends of August 12 and August 19.

Shame that it's only in one city in Poland, but it's better than nothing. Good that I have family in Warsaw - I'm gonna crash there for a day or two.

Only Unown and Kanghaskan? Gee. The only one (available) that I haven't seen is Farfecht'd.

I hope they will rotate the unique pokemon between continents.

NA: Tauros => Heracross
SA: Heracross => Kanghaskan
Asia: Farfecht'd => Tauros
Europe: Mr. Mime => Farfecht'd
Australia: Kanghaskan => Mr. Mime

And Corsola might appear in eggs obtained closer to water biomes.

I dunno.

They haven't ruled them out, just mentioned the ones on the event poster. Will be interesting to see the London scanner tomorrow.

I hope they'll appear during the week as well. I'm two weeks in Amsterdam during this period, but only during the week.

I now have a 93% Moltres, quite happy with that. Caught it with another damn straight ball. heh.

Maybe I just randomly suck at throwing curve balls to these legendaries.. I did a Lugia earlier and it ran after I threw 3 under it (while stationary and on bottom) with curve ball. Even had 2 curve balls either got under or to the left for Moltres.

Then again, yesterday I caught an Dragonair with an excellent curve ball. Who knows!

Only spawns near the Equator. That includes Southern Florida for some reason lol

Hawaii too apparently!

I'm going to Orlando this November, can't wait to catch it and Heracross.

Is Southern Naples Florida south enough to get it? I will be traveling down there in November

Yes, more than far enough south. Most of Florida is within the Corsola region, actually. Heracross is a bit further south, but you'll still easily be within that range as well. I caught both in Orlando, which is a good bit north of Naples.

Just had my 2nd Lugia of the day run away. Think it's more my phone that is giving me issues with throwing curve balls high enough. When it gets hot form those raids, makes it different. Maybe I need to fully wipe down my phone. As my finger kinda drags on the screen, creating potential issues. Perhaps I should start using a different finger then the one I use to do battle with

Awesome! This will make my trip down much more interesting.

What's better for throwing a curve ball high in the air (for the legendaries)?

Spin it super fast and drag my finger across very fast and hard?

Or spin it more slowly and smoothly and little slower across the screen to the edge?

I kinda notice that when I try to throw it super fast and hard it usually ends up not always making it to the end of the screen and throwing it little earlier.

Rygar 8 Bit

Jaguar 64-bit
to throw high curve balls i always spin the ball in the bottom cornor then real fast move my finger to the opposite slightly above the middle side of the screen and release normally hits them right in the face

Does the game close itself quite often lately for you guys? Mine does it at all the time -_-

Wait, Heracross isn't available in the US?

What is Niantic even doing.
The US already has it's own exclusive. It would be unfair if they'll got another one (and I also think it's unfair that Florida does)

Guess I'm gonna have to cave and buy some passes, will check if a Lugia appears close today, according a few people I met in the Moltres raid, people will go to a park close to my house if a Legendary shows up.

What? It's a regional pokemon. Like Tauros and Mr Mime. Before Gen 2 hit, South American players had nothing.

I'd rather get rid of regional pokemon personally.

I'll have to keep practicing. I'm sure I'm just syching myself out. As I didn't even have this issue till my 3rd Moltres Raid on Tuesday (caught my 1st 2). Lugia and Articuno I nearly hit each time with no issue. Now I'm having issue with Lugia. Probably just in my mind.

Speaking of which, guess that makes me 6 / 12 on Moltres. Pretty good considering 4 of those I believe were just straight ball catches lol

The special box in the shop is easily the best value for raid passes if you're gonna pick some up.

I don't hate the idea of regional exclusives, I'd just rather they were all worth using or none of them were. Having the odd mix as it is now just leaves many without heracross feeling jealous.

I kind of assumed South America also got Tauros for some reason.

Yep. Go for the 480 box. Because it comes with 6 passes. The 980 box and 1480 boxes aren't worth it because unless you really care about incense and lures (which really who cares about them that much), 3 of the 480 boxes give you 18 passes vs 1 of the 1480 box giving you 16 passes.

Yep. I've been buying those Special Boxes a lot. Even lately. And I've done probably 30 Legendary raid bosses since they came out. I'm ready! lol

I wish I knew when they'd take those down so I know when to buy a bunch lol. I have over 10K coins still but I bought like 50 passes.
