Hah, that's my problem. My area is super active, lures all over the place, but the gym leaders are in the 1k CP range. I've got a loooong ways to go, right now just enjoying the collection/leveling aspect, but I fear I'll always be behind.

Yup. People already got soft banned if you google for it.

Not sure the distance needed to get banned but at work theres a million things to do but when I get home its almost dead when it comes to pokestops and gyms. :|

I've had this happen to too.

App and/or my phone blows ass at gps positioning sometimes.

There's actually an external site you can go to for Achievement that'll sync your fitbit/fitness tracker data. So if you have an Android, you can't use an app, but you can sync other fitness data. For instance, I believe Achievemint is compatible with MyFitnessPal data, so you could sync your Google Fit steps to MyFitnessPal, which will then go to Achievemint. So there's a workaround.

Ingress folks surmised that it was a cumulative effect. If you hopped around once or twice it's not a big deal since people do that flying, etc. But if its fast and often it adds up.
 
My job is legit empty. If I set my view to see as far as possible and rotate 360 I see nothing. Not even one pokestop.

This is not my experience at all. I'm surrounded by PokeStops and, as I said upthread, I haven't encountered a single 'mon without using a lure or incense.

I think something is wrong with your game. Like it's glitched out or something. Every Insence I've used has gotten me at least 3.
 
I feel bad for folks in rural areas out there. I can cash 8-10 balls every five minutes from the couch here.

I finally hit level 8 today when running an errand into the city by bike.

Caught me a Raticate, Bellsprout, some Gastlys, some Eevees, a Squirtle and a Jigglypuff.

I'm finally getting the hang of this powering up and evolving thing. But i'm not really diving deep into it yet, got to hang on to that dust. My most powerful Poke is a CP254 Raticate.

I love that they give you a lure at level 8. I'll be sitting on my balcony pulling in Pokemons from up high. Maybe it'll gather some folks.
 
The gym in reach of my office has gone back and forth all day, going to leave it for now until I feel I can keep it for a bit with something good and powerful, right now it's just a waste of revives/potions.

At work I cant collect pokemons and such but there's tons around but just out of reach for me to click them and at home its literally NOTHING for miles cause im outside the city. Cant even see a Pokestop.

Sucks. Cant play them game unless i either leave work, spoof or travel to town, have a hard time to find parking and just walk around with a battery eating application.

Seems like chore to me. :|



Found like 6 pokemons around my house but once im out of balls theres no way for me to get it without commuting which is a big problem imo.

I have quite the mix- at my house there isn't a pokestop within walking distance. At work (downtown at a state capital) I can hit one from my desk and there are like 10 within 2 blocks.
 
Not sure what's happening, but my character keeps walking on his own back and forth between two short areas. My phone isn't moving, as I'm sitting. But my eggs are developing...
 
Took my first Gym as a Bluebro from a Red team. Felt fantastic. I had like 4 pokemon die just to do it, but no regrets. Held it until I woke up this morning and saw someone had dethroned me, ah well. Got my sweet 10 coins.

Got a Poke-stop that I can continually hit from my seat at work. Got 4 stops and 2 Gyms on my usual daily walking route. I am totally set.

The thing killing me is that I see all these pokemon that I don't already have, but I'm at work so I can't go out and chase them.

i hate all kinds of cheating/exploiting in videogames (outside of like, singleplayer built-in cheat codes) to some extent but this is the least tolerant I have ever been of people doing so.

It is so, so fucking contrary to the spirit of the game to do that. They should simply be unable to ever install this app again.

Our team put in a bunch of effort in the middle of the night last night to grab and fortify a bunch of Gyms which are crazy contested. Seeing them still standing hours later is so goddamn satisfying. The idea that somebody could just spoof their location and take them back without even covering the same 8 mile radius we did is infuriating.
 
I shit you not, 9/10 people at my local park (Fontana Park, Fontana, California) were playing Pokemon Go. My wife dragged me out there because that's where a Gym was. This App/game thing is nuts.
 
So I saw someone report that if you miss the pokemon you can pick your ball up off the ground by tapping it. Can anyone confirm? because I've been whiffing pokemon so hard and lost so many balls.
 
Oh shit, the Gym in front of my house just went from yellow to blue.

My mystic brothers are rolling deep with a CP720 Aerodactyl. Go blue.

Has anybody hit a bug when trying to challenge a gym where after the word "GO" appears, it resets back to the gym roster view? Earlier I was caught in an endless loop of hit battle-round1-GO-back to gym screen.

Without a lure or incense. I do ok when one of those is active. But that's a little bit bullshit as even at my extremely rural home, I at least get a few nearby at a time.
 
I finally turned off AR mode for my catches. Saves battery, and makes catching pokemon a good bit easier now that I can see a sense of depth. Esp useful for flying Pokemon.

Yes, I usually get this immediately after encountering the 1HP bug. It's supper frustrating, most of the gyms I encounter are bugged out.

Yes, what you're going to have to do is wait about the time it takes to reset a pokestop, go in the gym by yourself, not with a teammate, and take it out by yourself without spamming attack. It's happened to me 5 or so times.

Well that depends a bit, if you want to make the correct choice that would be Team Mystic. If you want to just kind of be a jerk in your daily life that's Team Valor, and if you just sort of mildly dislike yourself in general that would be Team Instinct.

Take a look at the gyms around your city, and go based off of that. I would recommend choosing the 2nd most popular team (if you can tell that based on how many gyms each team holds), since you'll have some backup that way. Plus, you get a ton of exp (300+) exp for each victory over an opposing gym. It's a great way to level up!

Yeah, I'm in the UK, trying to sign in using PGL account but keep getting an "Unable to authenticate" error. It's the first time I've not been able to sign in since installing the APK on Saturday :(

Man I want to know, when all is said and done, how much money will have changed hands around the world. Not to Niantic/TPC from players through the shop, but from local communities to their local businesses and organizations. This is unprecedented stuff.
