Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

This happened to me earlier in pokemon go: I threw a ball at a paras, and when it escaped, it clipped through the ball or something and got stuck on the foreground:

This happens to me if I have the game open while it's sitting flat on the table. It's an extreme closeup of the Pokemon but I can't do anything to fix it so I restart the app.

So I've chalked up 32 kilometers so far, damn this app got me off my ass. Love smoking up some, hopping on the bike and just cruising around.

Had my first huge run in with other players today. Decided to check out my smallas town's park/tourist trap since I figured there'd be a ton of pokestops. There was, and a shit ton of people too. Lures were everywhere, people walking back and forth talking about what they were catching. At one point I see the outline of a Ponyta pop up which I had never seen before. Everyone else pretty much sees it at the exact same time, and people start spreading out looking for it. Me and a small group find it first, and word moves fast as everyone starts heading toward it. Easily the craziest thing I've ever seen in gaming.

I think my favorite thing was my GFs reaction who has no interest in it at all, when everyone start shouting "Ponyta" and stuff she just looked so bewildered. Don't blamer he, even as someone who likes the game it's really odd.

edit: Also got several people ask about the phone mount on my bike.

Is evolving a lot of pidgeys more efficient XP-wise than evolving a few Pidgeottos? Do they give the same amount of XP for the evolving?

I don't want to accidentally post any affiliate links from slickdeals thus why I am not linking this.

On my way home I saw so many people walking a few steps, stopping, turning around and walking in another direction, stopping, repeating. I realised, holy crap, Pokemon GO is turning people into NPCs...

Caught a Ghastly, NidoranF, Venonat and Clefairy on the way to work. Much better than the Pidgey, Rattata and Drowzees I get back home when walking around.

Did any other region go online after the US? Supposedly new regions are going online this week after things stabilize, but apparently the servers went to shit a few hours ago and things have been a bit unstable, or I misread some stuff?

So with people at work downloading the APKs for their Android phones, I caved and made a US address account this morning. I then switched my account back to UK - can I now buy things from the shop?

This is very addictive. There is already a Valour gym in my small village and a single Pokestop at a school. Joined Mystic with some work people. Love it :)

This game is going to die real fast unless they find a way to address rural areas being completely devoid of both Pokemon and Pokestops...

even if that stayed the same, that would not be a reason to die
except in those regions obviously, but there are plenty active regions to make this super successful

but they will certainly allow to add new stops and gyms in the future, they did that in ingress after all. but that might take a long time.

When a pokémon changes its moves on evolution can the the tap attack change too? Can both change at once or just one? Is evolving the poképal with the highest CP and hoping for the best all I can do?

A scyther popped up as soon as I finished catching a pidgey today, but I was riding in the car and I didn't have enough time to click on it before it disappeared. Pretty mad about missing out on a scyther for a pidgey.

I suppose. I'm just salty that I can walk around for a whole kilometer and not encounter even 1 Pokemon.

Is the GPS tracking super wonky or is it just my phone?

It gets annoying when it takes forever to catch up to your current location (even though I'm not walking very fast), but it's also funny watching my avatar run in circles despite my phone never moving.

At work I leave it on without messing with it too much and at the end of the work day I've usually "walked" at least 1k. Not a lot, but it's helping me take care of those eggs.

This game is actually amazing. I walked 12 kilometers today. Pokestops were just minutes apart from each other. They managed to make walking addictive. WTF.

Sure, it's shallow, but the act of finding and catching rare Pokemon is even more satisfying than any mainline game. I got way too excited when I came across a Pidgeot earlier today.

If they keep on expanding with more Pokemon to catch and new features, I will be playing for a very long time.

Hmmmm I can finally evolve my growlithe to arcanine but my growlithe is only 212cp. I'm wondering if I should hold off until I search for a higher one(they're not super common for me) or just go ahead and evolve and then level it up?

My work is in an area of the town full of nothing but small houses. There's nothing here, not even Pokemon spawns lol

Same for me (Nexus 5).

My girl, my friend, and I went on a PoGo road trip today. We left at 10am and returned at 1am. I finally got the elusive Magmar as well as a few Chanseys. I got enough Slopokes to evelve into a couple Slobros. Weirdly he was the only water Pokemon I got today even though we were by a huge lake for a few hours. I did 80 past a Charizard on the freeway and almost busted a u on the freeway but there were too many cars around. I hit nearly 300 pokestops. Man, what a fun day.

there isn't a ton in my town but my wife's work is decently loaded.

that being said, it sucks for people who want to play that live in rural areas, but alas the majority of the population doesn't live in rural areas.

it doesn't sound like new places will be added any time soon, the only thing that sounds like it will happen is some spots will be removed if requested.

Personally I am hoping they merely add a system where a person can spend in game coins to make a new pokespot or gym, limited to so many in a given area, and can be reported if inappropriate but mostly an automated system because you would need an army of people to deal with requests for spots right now.

edit: Actually here's a shot of FIU from a couple hours ago, from the SoFla League group i'm in on FB

I've been going to FIU the past two nights and it's crazy seeing just how many people show up there. Even with it being a Monday, there were a good amount of people showing up. Lures are constantly running all around the campus. Great spot to go to! There also seem to be lots of Rhydon on the fairgrounds part of the campus....

I have to see when I can track around some rares. I want to get myself a Charmander! I did get a Hitmonlee from an egg today which was pretty neat.

Well, duh. It's supposed to keep them in the ball but they still break free so easily and then run.
Best way to secure a catch is to use a berry and then when you throw wait until the coloured circle is very tiny. If you throw while the circle is big it makes it harder to catch the Pokemon.

Yeah, I know. I even throw them a curve ball from time to time. Red ring Pokemon just don't care. That's Onix, Bulbasaur and Jigglytuff gone now.

Did it eventually disappear or did it just never move in closeness rank?

It eventually disappeared, then reappeared, then disappeared, like 10 times. Eventually I just gave up.

I got it to the 4th closest slot at best and then it disappeared completely after I moved like 100 feet.

Was chasing a Fearow earlier that did the same thing. Was moving up and down in rank but never changed from 3 footsteps and I drove in a 1km circle around it.

I placed 2 5km eggs in incubators at the same time, only got the hatch animation for one. Did I just lose the other one? I dont see any new pokemon on the list, the one I saw hatching was Growlithe.

So Pokemon Go has become my go to app for walking between home and the station, then between there to work.

But I wish it had more social integration, a place where you can add your friends and a timeline to see what mons they caught.

It could even be streamlined down to an hour like

"betta_then_ash420 caught :-

2x Magikarp
1x Oddish
8x Pidgey"

I like seeing what my friends have caught when I get into work, but it'd be great to see in app

So Duke Energy, Charlotte's Power Company (the building in downtown Charlotte), is a Gym. That Gym used to be owned by Team Mystic, and so they had blue lights on the building. Now, it's been claimed by Valor, and the lights have changed to Red.

It was even mentioned on Review-a-Raw (A wrestling podcast show based in Canada)

This game is scary popular right now.

So, just started last night, but wondering just how 'easy' it's supposed to be. I haven't even left the house yet and I've had 10 different Pokemon in my apartment alone. I mean, as entertaining as it is to find a new one in the bedroom every time I wake up to feed the baby, it seems a bit...overloaded?

It really depends on where you live.

You're lucky. I can't get anything in my house.

2km eggs praying for Pikachu/Charmander. Weedle, Weedle, Weedle..

Finally broke past "Temp Incubators for 10km Eggs only" mentality in desperate desire for a Cubone or Porygon, threw 3 5kms in. I got Ekans, another Ekans, and a Sandshrew. Not enough to evolve either. qq

But I did catch a 870CP Dewgong with my last four pokeballs, which was a real sweat.

Anyone here with a WSJ subscription?

I'm a player from China which is really eager to play pokemon go.
Could anyone help me have a look at the following article, and summarize for me?

I would be really grateful!!

http://www.wsj.com/articles/pokemon-chasers-in-china-hit-brick-wall-1468309365?mod=e2twa

If you want to access into WSJ articles, you can search the article title in Google and you can access it by clicking the link from Google search.

Anyway, there is no new information about the situation in China. It briefly describes the GPS lock on China, Google blocked by Great Firewall, info about the GPS hack and the rumored partnership between The Pokemon Company and Tencent (both parties decline to comment).Nothing is new, you should know about these info if you follow the news.

I have to go to 10KM the beach to find anything.

People in huge cities like New York and London have it easy because of all the Ingress shit in those places
