Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Was pretty lively when I got home from work. Not too bad for 2 AM.

After spending the weekend in the super empty Mississauga burbs, I'm glad to be back home downtown! Time to re-up tmrw.

TOO BIG

Just curious, have people here already spent money on the game? If so, how much?

It makes me wonder if this app prints money. Because buying stuff isn't really necessary to enjoy the game.

I spent 5€ for the item bag upgrade and still have the rest of the coins

Man, living in the middle of the jungle sucks. Went to town today and found tons of Pokemon and Pokestops. Sigh. Everyone's so overleveled in comparison!

Forgot to post this earlier. At a local park:

Btw, to those by Columbus, OH, there are a TON of Charmanders at Highbanks Metro Park, which is where this sign is from. I spent an afternoon there and got enough of them to get a CP 1500 Charizard.

Well, you gotta. It doesn't register shit when the app isn't opened.

Fuck. Not so bad for the 2km but the 10?

Can I at least hit the lock button to turn the screen off?

And that screenshot of SF is sad. I was happy when I found two pokestops nearby.

Guys met another grill. Another cutie. 23. Talked a little bit, separated into the crowd.

Found each other again 10 minutes later, smiled in her direction (cause I finally evolved a Vaporeon). She came over to talk to me again. We chilled and chatted for an hour. She asked me to walk her home. I did.

I was too scared to ask for her number. Guys why is this game showcasing my inability to date women who aren't hooked up by my friends. :c

It's not over - you know where she lives. If you liked her, go be in the area and doubtless you would bump into her again and start again.

I'm coming to Columbus for a school interview in two weeks. Is this park anywhere close to OSU's campus? :p

Already spent $10. Those lures are amazing and helps others. Hope they continue with teamwork type stuff for the future

Eh. It's about 15 minutes north of OSU (west of Polaris). Ohio State quick tips: Scyther at Buckeye Grove (sometimes), Staryu at the Oval (frequently), Vulpix by the 18th Avenue Library (sometimes), Exeggcute by Lincoln Tower Park (sometimes), and Dratini just NW of Morrill Tower (rarely). Mostly everything else is the usual Pidgey/Rattata/Weedle/Spearow. PokéStops out the ass all over campus -- there's a good spot where three overlap at Mirror Lake.

I've spent about 5 bucks or so. Mostly to buy Lucky Eggs. Though a couple of times I bought Pokeballs when I ran out and wasn't near a PokeStop.

I assume people buy Lure Modules/Eggs like candy though. Considering they're always going at hot spots.

Before the game was released someone explained what type of places made for pokestops and gyms and even had a site by google or something that you could see where the main places would be.

Anyone remember what was that ?

I've spent $10 bones. 3 backpack upgrades and the set of 8 lucky eggs. But I don't see a need to spend anymore money going foward.

Anyone else having trouble with great balls curving unintentionally? Happens way more frequently than with normal balls. Are they supposed to be harder to throw?

Finished the night with a butterfree, electabuzz and kadabra. I also got to meet more people which was awesome. Me and another girl were searching around and immediately were like "Pokemon Go?" and then "yup lol" so we both decided to travel together in search of more Pokemon. Then we added on Facebook and we're thinking of starting a group chat for our street. It's amazing how easy this game makes socializing.

I know the game is just a fad and it'll all probably fizzle out in 9-12 months.

But I think it's great there's finally a game that actually encourages people to go outside and meet other real human beings in the flesh. I'm finally seeing kids outside again in the summer, instead of inside on a couch playing video games. I know they're still technically playing video games, but getting people outside into the sunlight is a good thing.

My wife was actually the one that got me to download Pokemon Go yesterday.

Things that will go up as a direct result of Pokemon Go:

- Sales of battery power banks for phones
- General fitness
- Trespassing

Things that will go down as a direct result of Pokemon Go:

- Your mum, when she sees my Charizard

It absolutely is. I have never seen a game do this. It is amazing. They have gold in their hands. It makes me wonder what they will do to make GO a long lasting experience

yeah can agree with this.

was yesterday out at a hotspot here in town, with 3 lures active. around 30 people just chilling out in a park, having nice conversations and occasionally cating a few pokemon. its one of the best "gaming" expiriences i ever had and will return to that spot often i think.

Meanwhile in non-US towns you look like a creep wandering around looking for Mons lol

Atleast someone is nice enough to put one of those lures on the stop near my house (that I can reach while in my couch). The only lured stop in my town as far as I can see.

Since I've never really played Pokemon before, I can't tell if what I'm catching is good or bad or rare, etc. Tried looking up a few 'rarity' charts, but also read that many of them are BS. For my interesting catches yesterday, I got a Clefairy, an Electabzz, a Haunter, 2 Hypnos, a Psyduck, a Staryu, and a Wartortle. Are any of these particularly good?

It depends on the CP you caught them with but Electabuzz, Haunter and Wartortle are pretty rare so nice job!

Gyms have a level. This level dictates how many Pokemon can defend that gym. If there were no empty slots, you can't put a Pokemon there. You can fight the Pokemon, though. If you beat them, your gym's prestige will increase and eventually the level will increase. The Pokemon defending won't lose HP (not sure about yours).

I can confirm they do lose HP, but don't faint. My Rattatta got wrecked (I sent in something weak to experiment), but had 1HP afterwards.

Generally for this game, the higher the CP, the stronger the pokemon.

But you shouldn't concern yourself with high CP pokemon until you get past like...level 10.

Tonight's highlights.

Caught a Psyduck! And then 2 minutes later caught a Golduck! :D

FINALLY got a Vaporeon, who quickly overtook my Flareon for my second BAE.
