Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I haven't been able to sign in for like the past two days. Now today, I sign in, it loads, then it takes me back to the log in page again, no errors.

Anyone else?

I've been talking with library directors about what they can do as Pokemon Gyms to get people to come in and get involved.
If this maintains popularity I can see some really cool and creative promotions being done at businesses that are also Pokestops and Gyms.

There're some place I don't want to go xD

Seeing stuff like this makes me incredibly discouraged. People living in a city have such an advantage it's insane. It'd be fine if there was a balance like city dwellers get a ton of items but Pokemon are rare and country folk have a ton of Pokemon but items are rare, but that's not the case.

It really sucks. :(

Yeah, it makes sense to give an advantage to rural areas in some ways. Cities need more gyms because there is more competition for a spot that can only be held by a few people, but they don't need vastly more pokestops, since one or 1000 people can use the same ones.

My experience with the game so far. I could walk in any direction and get nothing. It's absolutely ridiculous how worthless this game is for people outside cities, considering Pokemon should exist in the wild and all.

That's kind of weird. I live about 20 minutes from Cleveland in a small suburb and there's lots of Pokemon that appear here (when I say lots, I mean regular Pidgey, Rattata, etc)

I've found that sometimes being still makes them pop up. Other times, I've noticed them pop up while I'm driving in random people's backyards and stuff out the development we live in.

How does one acquire great/ultra balls? Only through pokespots?

I dunno if anyone else has found them yet but Serebii mentions they appear when you hit Level 10 (Great Balls anyways)

This is actually a great thing I think for businesses really. I mentioned quite a few pages back that having a small meetup with your friends at like a coffee shop would be really cool (where someone gets the coffee and someone else grabs a Lure for the stop).

If a business can somehow use this to their advantage and attract customers it'd be super interesting and potential help to increase the longevity of the game.

That being said...fucking servers down every few hours is bullshit. On launch I can understand. On day 3 going into a weekend this shouldn't be happening, regardless of how many people are playing or if they're "swamped". They should have expected this, especially with an IP as big as Pokemon.

Even though it's a free to play phone game, it would be nice if they threw us a little something our way like some more Pokeballs, an egg, or something neat. Especially those people who tried to login with a Trainer Club Account. A friend of mine hasn't been able to play since 9AM yesterday....

Ingress players can submit landmarks, so cemeteries with a lot of notable headstones and grave markers will have many player-submitted Pokemon locations as well.
I have yet to see a cemetery with fewer than 5 Pokespots/Gyms inside.

So if I was going to waste 10$ on this (when it comes out in Europe...), what is the smartest thing to waste it on?

I've gotten the most benefit from Incubators (to hatch multiple eggs at a time), more inventory space (to hold a ton of Pokeballs and never run out), and in the beginning Lucky Eggs are fantastic as they double EXP so you will rocket through the first few levels.

I wonder if businesses will try and throw money at Niantic in order to become a pokestop/gym?

I'm thinking that businesses are trying to capitalize on Pokemon Go's release on their own. How sue crazy Pokemon Company's going to be or how are they going to go about the inevitableness of businesses trying to use this app to lure in customers? I'm thinking back to that guy who got sued for hosting a PAX party last year.

Nintendo/Pokemon/Niantic would probably be wise to use these places as an opportunity to sell those upside down teardrop Pokeball thingies that go with this app.

Yes and no. Every location in Pokémon Go correlates to an Ingress portal, but not every Ingress portal exists within Pokémon Go. For example, a cluster of three portals exists near my office, but only one PokéStop.

Be mindful of using the Ingress Intel map for Pokémon Go for this reason.
Yep. There are barely any Ingress locations around me... And even less pokéstops. Super lame.

Is anybody using this app on a tablet? I would assume you would have to turn your phone into a hotspot to access internet while walking, but i was wondering how well it worked with a tablet

It's not impossible. Lawson, AXA, Jambs Juice, and Zip Car are all locations that have previously sponsored Niantic to be included as Ingress portals. Lawson and AXA even have special rare items that are branded with their logos.

Man I hope so. This game could be such a boon for local businesses.

It's good, really. Now the family of the deceased can get some closure. If that woman hadn't been playing Pokémon Go and stumbled across that body, who knows how long it would have gone undiscovered.
No, what I mean is I'm sad for the guy and his family. It's good I agree tho that she stumbled upon him. Brings closure.

I totaly agree, I will be happy that nice meeting like this continue after launch. It will bring a more positive image of gaming and bring a nice atmospheres to shops/places.

A friend and I used to lure modules near each other in an old town, we had over 16 people show up while we played and met over 30 over the course of the night.

Wyoming teen playing new Pokemon game on phone discovers body

I can't even...

"The pokemons are all over Riverton," she said. "I was trying to get a pokemon from a natural water resource."

She said that she jumped over the fence to go towards the river in search of a Pokemon.

"I was walking towards the bridge along the shore when I saw something in the water," Shayla said. "I had to take a second look and I realized it was a body."
Uh, wow.

I guess just having a ton (hundreds? thousands? hundreds of thousands?) of people just sort of scampering about on foot throughout the day looking for stuff, it's bound to have some crazy results.

Aight; looks like all those months of Google Rewards surveys weren't for nothing

Yeah, not supposed to jump fences and stuff to get to places though. Pokestops and gyms are in public places that are easily accessible to the public. That's one of the requirements of submitting an ingress portal.

They weren't looking for a pokestop or gym though. They were hoping to find water Pokemon by the river.

I'm hoping that because all the servers have been down for some time now, when they are back online they will be far superior. I hope.

Businesses aren't portals generally. They have to have a point of interest to be considered. Private property is generally discouraged.

This guy is getting a lot of people walking...

America has spent billions of dollars trying to fight the obesity epidemic, when all we needed was a free Pokémon app.
