No, but you can add your Pokemon to the gym if the gym level is high enough.
Saw a lure nearby last night and the servers seemed steady enough. Ran down there and two kids were there. I said fuck it and threw another lure at the other pokestop literally 100 feet away for double potency.......fucking cars all over man LOL. You can't make this shit up. Best part is its right next to the police station and somebody backed up into another car.....quickly looked to see if he hit anyone.....finished catching the pokemon and THEN got out to inspect the damage to his vehicle........its amazing. I've seen a lot of near miss's since this game came out. People need to stop driving and playing. It works best when walking anyways. Just find a spot to park and start walking around.

Once you hit level 8 (?) or higher you'll receive it as a reward. You will then be able to get them from Poke Stops.

So when someone puts a lure down it has to be at a Pokestop or gym?
Also, when putting a lure down and saying people are flocking to it, what are they seeing on the map? I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary in my limited time with the game yet....

Yes, it has to be there since its a public place that others can easily gather to.
Petals raining down on the area is what shows when the lure is active on a spot.
Wait, how did you get a Pikachu as a starter? And can it still be caught in the wild?
You have to walk away from the other starters, but it doesn't seem hard to catch Pikachu in the wild anyways.

Yes. I guess.
To get it you just have to ignore the starters a couple of times. Just by walking away. NEVER tap on them. At the 4th or 5th time they refresh theur position, a Pikachu will appear.

You should look at the move set as well.
Depends on where you are. The only Pikachu I have came from an egg and I have seen a single one in the wild yet.

I kept a lower cp Doduo because it had a flying attack where my higher up Doduo had two normal attacks..... Not sure if I'm doing it right though, I want to take over a gym near my house 😛
Go into the shop and tap on the little shield for 10 premium currency. You can do this once per day for every gym you own.
I think successfully defending it will net you the premium currency in the shop

I saw their was an Rhyhorn near by and got real excited. So instead of driving to the grocery store, I walked. Probably about 2km. In the end, I didn't find the Rhyhorn, but I did catch an Ivysaur! So I guess that's alright.
Go to the Shop, upper right corner. Every 24 hours you can claim 10 coins for every gym you own.
I grabbed the game just before taking a walk to the store and so far I caught a Pikachu, 2x Magikarp (one of which I transfered), a Spearow, a Drowzee and I hatched a Weedle, I was grinning from ear to ear for a hatching a Weedle, would have liken to seen my face.
Although the game isn't out in my country yet (Belguim) al the gyms I passed seem to have been taken already. The trainstation nearby actually has a double gym in it.

After a brief glimpse of what was around me last night, game has been firmly stuck on the spinning white PokeBall all day. Hopefully the server issues are resolved soon, I'd love to take this out later and catch some stuff.
The weekend effect begins.
uhh you know that once you get within range of the pokestop you touch the stop and the spin the picture right? Cause you always get something.

For android users, there's a little quick bonus for this game. Download "Google Opinions Rewards" for your phone, and register. It'll occasionally ask you random little survey questions, but in turn you'll be rewarded with a few cents in google play credit. If you let it build up, you can use it to buy stuff in Pokemon Go!
