Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

So is my Eeve the fatest one in this thread ?

awesome. I saw a gym down the road was going back and forth between red and blue, literally every couple mintues. so i snuck down there to put in a little 350CP guy just to make it a little more difficult for red. so far its held, i guess the extra guy made a difference.

For android users, there's a little quick bonus for this game. Download "Google Opinions Rewards" for your phone, and register. It'll occasionally ask you random little survey questions, but in turn you'll be rewarded with a few cents in google play credit. If you let it build up, you can use it to buy stuff in Pokemon Go!

Woah, thanks for this! Downloading now.

I'm starting to get a bit worried about the Pokemon spread in this game. I just went exploring with my girlfriend (didn't lie, I explained Pokemon Go was a big motivation for this =P) somewhere fairly remote. Huge pocket of woodland in Kent, with a big fishing lake to the north, and an awesome ruin of a chapel to the south in some fields that started off as a Roman temple in the 4th century.

Presumably I have Ingress users to thank for making the ruin a Pokestop, but that was the only point of interest on the map, and my "nearby" list for Pokemon was three-strong: A pidgey, a zubat, and a drowzee, all three footprints away. After almost two hours of walking I ran into a single rattata in the woods...

Anyone else gone anywhere really rural yet? I was in south London on Thursday (rammed with Pokemon, stops, and gyms), and my home is also rammed with everything (Canterbury). I was really hoping exploring away from dense civilization and hunting down history would be rewarded, but I'm now worried that for business decisions they've decided to only really bother with towns since that's where most people will play =(

This 1hp gym glitch is the most frustrating thing.

Also, I couldn't find the pidgeot at the mall. Wandered around the parking lot and grabbed enough pidgeys to evolve my pidgeotto though

Spent a few hours walking round town with my partner, us both playing it. Great fun, pointing out when you see a Pokemon, finding interesting Pokestops and actually learning a few things about where I live.

The real fun bit though - clearly plenty of other people are already playing, despite it being in the UK. A few places round the cities had the Lure Modules in - so we went over there to catch, and you could so tell when other groups were playing too!

Early signs are this will be a huge hit from that... just hope they can keep tweaking to keep it interesting to play.

I think I've been cut off lol. I caught a few Pokemon the first day and since then, nothing. Just tried to use an incense and I'm getting a "failed to detect location" message.

I have a 53 CP Rattata and a 134 CP Raticate. If I evolve Rattata, will its final CP be higher than the Raticate's? I'm asking because I don't want to waste candy in evolving. I'm not sure how much CP it gains upon evolution.

I love the Simpsons

Yesterday there was nothing but Valor around me. I challenged and beat one of the gyms but he had too many points left so it didn't kick him out.

I go back today and my team, Team Instinct took him out and left a high level Pinsir to protect the gym. I added my Pidgeot to the mix. It had 396 CP which is high for my area.

Since all I get is Pidgey and Ratata by my home I decided to raise maxed out Pidgeot and Radicate's to leave at fellow teams gyms and create a team of six for me to battle other teams gyms. Man I'm loving this game. My data plan isn't though. >.>

Also
Pokémon GO |OT2| Got server problems? I feel bad for you son , I got 99 Ratata's but a server ain't one.

I know it's bad. :D

Will the Pokemon go controller allow you to eventually walk around without having app open?

I have no clue to be honest. I'd think that they would eventually do that though. Having the app open all the time to track walking seems silly so it seems natural to improve on it and not need it open

Yep! The app needs some obvious improvements (working with the screen off, and improving the "nearby" Pokemon feature) but I love that they've only started with Kanto Pokemon. They can update this yearly with a new generation each time and it'll probably be close to a decade before they catch up with the main games. So much content to keep everyone busy!

I hope so. Their launch trailer showed a girl cycling to hatch her eggs, but that's literally impossible at the moment unless she disabled her phone's auto-lock feature. At least if the add-on provides that functionality the ad isn't completely misleading, but no way I'm wearing that around town =P

I saw some grass rustling on the map, but when I went nearby, no Pokemon appeared, and no pokemon were listed in the nearby window thing. Was I supposed to be able to find a Pokemon there and servers were just fucking up?

Someone in this thread mentioned that rustling grass might be an indicator of what direction to walk in for the nearby or tracked pokemon. I want to test it myself but my area seems to be dead for pokemon for some reason

Got a pretty decent haul today, but I don't think I'll go to the park again as it was mostly bugs. It was funny catching Pidgeys near real tiny birds though.

Has anyone in NYC went by the Nintendo NY store to see what kind of Pokemon may be there?

Also, does anyone else think Mew will only be in Japan? Maybe only at Nintendo HQ? lol

Went for a 4 mile run. My gosh why are so many wild Pokemon appearing...is it cause now I'm Level 8? Literally spit out when I saw that 370 Pidgeot

Irony is that my starter Charmander is now almost the lowest thing I have

Went on a 30 minute walk with an incense and found fuckingnothing.gif - kinda bummed. Just a pidgey and spearow.

Do we need to have the app open to rack up steps for the incubator?

So I now control the two gyms in my town. Can you change the Pokemon you have in the gyms?

Not until they are defeated.

One thing I like about Go, Pokemon you'd never dream of battling with, now seem competitively viable here.

What does adding a Pokemon to your favorites / clicking the star do?

There was an Aerodactyl near me but I couldn't find it nooooo
At first I was thinking: "Lol who is gonna buy this?"

But now after seeing the MASSIVE success of Pokémon GO, I think that accesory is going to sell like freaking pancakes!

What does the accessory do again?
