Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Went to Houston museum district for like 2 hours. Already managed to get most of the Pokémon here.
Besides a bunch of Pokéstops, it was pretty useless. Saw a ??? Pinsir, but it ran after 1 failed Pokéball. There were Ponyta in the area too, but I never managed to encounter them.

Was totally defeated, but coming back home, I ran into a Vaporeon (only 13 CP though) and a Dratini. Managed to get both, now I'm super hyped.

Did you see any gyms?

Sometimes you get lucky and it counts that you caught it. Other times not so lucky.

The good news is that the servers seem to be doing better every day.

So there is a chance it will count as caught? I'll check to see if I lucked out if it lets me back in soon. First time server messed up bad for me today.

I just installed this on my iPhone 6. Seems to have better performance than my Samsung S6 install. Especially if you view a Pokémon from your list of Pokémons the framerate is terrible on Android but just fine on iPhone.

To install for iPhone (from the UK) I changed App Store region to NA and chose 'None' for payment info. Google a valid Zip code.

Don't wanna jinx it, but the servers are working just fine today. They must've done something since it's the first weekend the game is out and ppl are playing like crazy.

I see a gym that red and yellow. Does that mean someone is on the process of taking it?
Nvm its all yellow. Looks red at the bottom of the diamond thing above it

Any way to turn off the in game music or sound? I like to listen to podcasts during my commute and this just blares the music over whatever I was listening to already.

I can't find any settings or options anywhere

How are you supposed to evolve rarer/starter Pokémon? Transferring spares to the professor only merits 1-3 candies AFAIK, and I have no idea how I can find 50 Charmanders in any reasonable amount of time.

Also seriously I need that Pokémon Go Plus dank.

literally the first two options in the options menu :D

Two more questions...one, can you do anything with duplicates? Two, Why do duplicates count additionally in the Pokemon total? Like my list says 11/250, but two of them are the same.

250 is how many slots you have in your backpack. You can transfer duplicates to Professor Willow for candies.

You need to find about 30 to get to Charizard, if you're trading them. Or if you hatch one from an egg, you'll get 6-20 candies depending on the egg.

Trade the weaker one to the professor for an extra candy.

That's not the Pokedex list, it's the limit on how many Pokemon you can hold.

Click on the Pokemon and scroll down and click transfer. The Pokemon will transfer to the professor in exchange for candy of that Pokemon type.

Careful you can't get those Pokemon back.

Transferring a duplicate gives you candy for the PKMN that you can use to power up or evolve PKMN of that family. And you might want to have duplicates for the sake of it if they are both good so they count as using an actual slot. You can also expand PKMN hold size in the shop if you want with premium currency

Anyone have an explanation why park benches with memorial plaques seem to be considered Pokestops? My nearby park has like 3 of them. It just seems so random.

There were a ton, but my Pokémon suck.
Valor seems to be the most popular.
They were mostly around MFAH.

Hmm yeah I havent seen many from Team Spark...but went that route so hopefully that'll change soon! Im in the same boat though...not strong enough to challenge anything.

It would be great if the Reliant Energy building was a goldmine for electric types or the ship channel for poison types lol.

So, you can't take back the gym from your own team? I battled a blue gym and won, but was unable to capture the gym.

You increase the prestige lvl of your own teams gym by battling it. I'm not sure what prestige does (gym hp?).

I used my last pokeballs on a curious Gastly so I've now done that dreaded thing and spent five dollars in micro payments. I now have a hundred more pokeballs.

What am I doing with my life
