Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

The number of people I saw today playing this here in NYC is simply staggering. I'm talking about 50+ in an hour, and that's here in BK. On every corner I stopped I saw people playing.

So, you can't take back the gym from your own team? I battled a blue gym and won, but was unable to capture the gym.
You can only spar with same team gyms. As they lvl up it adds more slots so more Pokemon can be added in to protect the gym. If you put a Pokemon in the gym that has a higher CP then the current gym leader the you become it.

Servers seem pretty solid today-- I've been running deliveries all over my state, and each stop on my route I pull the game out with no issues.

Found it kind of funny that the smallest town I've stopped in had the most stuff going on-- half a dozen Pokestops in reach of my parking spot, and 4 gyms visible on the screen. The next stop, in a large city and college town, had one Pokestop way up the road.

Caught some nice Pokemon on a short walk round neighbourhood

Anyone have an explanation why park benches with memorial plaques seem to be considered Pokestops? My nearby park has like 3 of them. It just seems so random.

Most Pokespots and Gyms have been summitted by real people that played Ingress. Niantis just imported them. That's why some Pokestpot are cemetry, lol Because in Ingress that was a spot to make a farm people said XD

Holy shit. I just walked downtown for lunch in the small city where I live (Naperville, IL), and saw probably hundreds of people playing this. I've never seen anything like it. Has to look so bizarre to anyone who doesn't know what's going on. A bunch of people converge together in a zone for a few minutes, and then disperse in various directions to another.

The cool thing is how social it is, as in real-life social. Strangers are all chatting with one another, saying that there's a Squirtle a couple blocks away, and stuff like that. I'm not even playing, and I had fun talking to a bunch of people about it.

Does weather affect the Pokemon you find?

(Is it worth going out in the pouring rain? Will I get different Pokemon than normal?)

I used my last pokeballs on a curious Gastly so I've now done that dreaded thing and spent five dollars in micro payments. I now have a hundred more pokeballs.

What am I doing with my life

You paid $5 because you want to go out and walk more. That's ain't too bad.

Hitmochan is not rare at all, that thing was more common than zubat at a park I was at. As I left 3 of them appeared in one spot.
I've only ever seen one out of the 500+ field encounters I've had, and it's the one I caught. I think it's a little rare. Hell, I've seen more Pikachus out in the field.

What happens when you send a Pokemon to a gym? Does it just stay there? If I leave one at a gym do I have to go back to that gym to retrieve my Pokemon or does it automatically send it back to you?

Same here. I got a $15 Google play card so if it ever happens again then I'll have enough for another 100 on hand.

If they ever open up the Pokestop/Gym registration, I'm totally registering the coffee shop in my building, lul.

I'm going to nominate the local trailer park. I'm surprised that the place Trailer Park Boys was filmed isn't a stop or gym.

It stays there until it gets defeated. Then it sends it back to you. You must heal it with a potion.

Not sure if this has been brought up, but eevee evolution is not random. It's based on the second move of your eevee. Dig = flareon, Swift = vaporeon, body slam = jolteon.

Some people spend almost triple that on cancer sticks. At least that's what i'm telling myself as I debate between the $10 pack or $20 pack of pokecoins.

Was stoked when I finally encountered a Psyduck. THEN, just a minute later a Golduck with a CP of ??? appeared. Holy shit. He bailed three times from my poke balls but caught him on my fourth try. By far my strongest Pokemon thus far. Powered him up to a CP of 288. Level 7 right now.

Every single stop and gym is a user nominated submission from the previous AR game, ingress.
I just caught a spearow. This is as exciting as when I was like a kid and got Pokemon blue. Goddammit Nintendo
Been trying my best to contain my glee. But yeah when the servers are stable this is pretty real.
I know that it raises the reward and pokemon slot. But it kinda sucks that once the gym is full, I can't send my pokemon there.
What's the max number of mons a highest level gym can hold?
I specifically downloaded an app that will keep my screen constantly on while I am in Go
Stay Alive works well.

Damn this game is absolutely blowing up. So many people I know are playing and going outside to catch pokemon. I've heard of just people out in the middle of the night running into other trainers and teaming up.

Yesss finally spotted my first local enemy gym. Team Valor has the Ikea fountain by me. Nothing stronger than a 160.

Your reckoning is coming shortly, fellas.
