Yeah it saves battery and you don't have to track the pokemon when you catch it so things are much easier. Granted, you do lose a bit of the magic not being able to see the pokemon in the real world.
 
I know this has probably been asked and answered like a million times, so... sorry, but it there any reason to fully level a Pokemon before I evolve it? Can it get it to higher max stats that way or does it not matter either way?
 
Does anyone think Pokemon Go will cut into the sales of the mainline series in a noticeable way? There is enough different between them (no trading or battling local trainers besides gym battles atm, only two moves per Pokemon, no tm/hm) to make it so hardcore/competitive fans will obviously stick with the newest entries, but I gotta wonder if what is currently in P:Go will be enough to satisfy casual fans who only played the games to catch Pokemon and didn't concern themselves with the more competitive aspects. Of course, I don't know the sales breakdown between hardcore/casual/children is so even if what I say did happen there would be no way for me to reasonably guess what the outcome would be.

I'll usually use the AR at the beginning of the encounter for the novelty factor, but then turn it off when I go to make the catch. Otherwise it gets a little too funky sometimes.
 
I think my issue was a hiccup with the app. I kept seeing that swirling pokeball icon when walking. I closed and restated the app and pokemon are appearing now.

Also, driving around to do shit I'm seeing lots and lots of nerds hanging around monuments and points of interests. Its hilarious and cool.
 
Went to the Church on the block from my house to go to the Poke center, and this guy and his GF were in their car and asked me if I was playing Pokemon go lol

I kept seeing cars riding around that church I know what they were doing

Username is BamWhamKaPau. I'm only part of one gym at the moment though. :P There was an Instinct gym down the street but Valor took it maybe an hour ago.

So many lures out on Forbes and near the Cathedral of Learning. But I'm waiting for it to get a bit cooler before heading out.
 
So are the gym locations a set location? I have one at a corner by an airport that really no one even goes to... or probably can't.

Does it change?

I don't know, the experiences are vastly different. The consumer group this could become a real question are kids. If they feel like GO is cooler than the mainline series or if their parents decide to not get them $40 games anymore it could cut into the sales. But if the Pokémon Company integrate GO smartly into every mainline game from now on it could be beneficial to both series.

I think it's the opposite. For the last couple of days, I see a lot of people who know nothing about pokemon become obsess over this game. My niece who is a minecraft addict actually put down her ipad and went out with me to catch pokemon. I'd say this game will bring a lot of new fans to the pokemon universe and the mainline series will become more popular.
 
The botanical garden near me has like over 10 pokestops and a gym inside it and yet i havent gone there in years. Maybe i should.

Also one of the pokestops is a 9/11 memorial plaque, imagining kids walking up to that to get rewards must be absurd.

How about Bonuses for everyone who purchases the mainline games?

Since not every Gen is implemented yet. Transfering Pokémon between the Games and Go seems out of question for now.
 
I live in the outskirts and the game hasn't launched in Europe, sadly. I chose Red and found a Red gym while wandering around. The thing is that I can fight my own team mons? How does that work? What do I get if I win? Do I benefit my team if I lose?

I will say this, 99% of the people I see playing this right now I know for a fact haven't played a Pokemon game in years.
 
ok, tried it, caught several pokemons, but AR mode does not work,because my phone doesn't have gyroscope (htc desire 620)

I was unable to connect after 9 pm local time
 
I don't particularly care about this, but I'm definitely gonna try it as soon as it's available here. In any case, it sure is quite funny watching people being hyped on Twitter and, well, pretty much everywhere else.

If you win, it will raise the gym's prestige which allows you to put more pokemon into the gym.

I've been doing this for years already, but I work in the environment sector so I guess I care more than most. It is an awesome idea though, and I've often wondered how much cleaner the world would be if every person just picked up one single piece of litter a day and put it in the nearest bin. It's really not difficult.

I also think law enforcement should offer bounties for footage of littering. £50 reward for footage of a car or person littering, and a £200 fine for the litterer. Would massively discourage littering, and given that everyone has a camera in their pockets these days would make normal people (non-litterers) much more vigilant.
 
Servers down again, nice. It's exciting to catch ones that people comment on as being rare, going to have to crack open my son's Pokémon encyclopedia to see what's what.
 
Well damn. Three hours later I caught probably 30-40 pokemon and gained three levels. That golbat got away from me though....

This is the craziest thing ever. The strip mall I was at had people of all ages playing the entire time. Some of them as nuts as me making stop after stop for hours. I'm shocked.
 
Wow. The social experience this is bringing about is pretty magical. Met so many people and couples going around playing too, we all stopped and chatted and farmed the pokestop and threw down lures....amazing

Yeah I do it to. But I thought with all the extra hands out the next fees days. I'm sure the Earth would appreciate it.

This is very dangerous.
You have to interact with the game when you find a Pokemon or pokestop,so you have to slow down,and it may cause accidents if you are not careful,make your partner help you in car.
I've tried in an empty mall where there are very big area to drive your car.
also,eggs won't hatch if you drive a car.

LOL I was out in the sun for 3 hours..I'm gonna be in trouble. I did'nt think I would be out so long.

Question do you guys just capture everything? cause i started running out of pokeballs. There was like 3 or 4 Pokemon at every stop and there was 6 stops in the same strip mall. I was a bit overwhelmed.
 
I was just walking down my street playing and some kid told me he didn't know old people liked pokemon as much as he did. I'm 21 you fuck. Lol. Didn't know there were this many kids around my neighborhood. Fun watching people walk around.

Oh sure. Those people get to engage with Pokémon again after so many years. They're not willing to pay $100+ (handheld + game) for that experience but a free App and maybe some IAP down the line? Why not?
 
Not many server problems. I had a great day touring my town in my car. @100 degrees and eczema, I was not going to play in the south Florida sun. 7 gyms should be paying up soon. Let's go team Mystic!!!!
 
Walked around university with my gf today for a good 4 hours just catching Pokemon. We saw so many people playing as well, this game is really something. Caught a Dragonair but I'm kinda frustrated atm that my Pokemon are nowhere near as powerful as I need them to be to contest nearby gyms, despite being level 10.

I didn't think I;d be out so long either then I looked at my phone and realized that I was at 20% battery.


Not anymore. I'm making a living dex and already have a few families complete so I'm just ignoring those Pokemon now. I did get a lucky egg at level 9 so I may catch a bunch of Weedles and Pidgeys and then activate the app so I can watch the EXP roll in as I evolve them.
 
I went for a walk at the botanical garden ready to catch some pokemon and spam the shit out of the pokestops there but as soon as I get there the servers just died. Ugh.

It looks like the servers just stop working between 2PM and 5PM for me. Yesterday was the same.
