Managed to capture my first Gym!! #TeamInstinct

Was a lvl 1 owned by Blue (NPC). Since this is Europe I likely got a first mover advantage so I left a mere Zubat to protect it.

After holding 4 gyms for pretty much the past 2 days, the massive mob of red in my town. Now, all 8 gyms in my area are red, and 4 of them are lvl. 6 (the other two are 5 and 3). I feel like nobody really wins here, there's not enough spots in the gym for the 15+ red team members I talked to. I had counted on the gyms switching a few times a day, but it took me a ridiculously long time to clear out one gym, and then as soon as I got close to taking another I got hit by the 1 hp glitch.

Met a ton of people and ended up joining a group of 6 that were going on lure hunts. Then ran into a group of 20 at another lure. The social aspect off this game is a ton of fun. At least San Francisco has a ton of people playing. About half the people I see on the street are playing.

For everyone not in Australasia/US, are you having issues finding Pokemon?

I can see pokestops and gyms, but I havent seen a single monster since I got my starter.

Tried this for a little bit. The game just lacks absolutely anything other than walking, catching new Pokémon, and battling gyms. There's the social aspect too, but what's even the point if you can't interact with anyone else socially?

Feels like a missed opportunity. You would think the mainline games would provide some sort of template. At least in those games you can meet someone and play with them.

Just get some friends and go hunting with them. It's fun.

Either way, Pokemon GO really needs to patch these problems before people sour on this game.

For now though its insanely popular, about 30 people in the park today all playing the game.

Same issue here!

And another issue where I beat the gym and it says victory - yet it immediately goes form neutral back to those gym leaders pokemons. One of them was my friend and she wasn't even near the gym to repawn her Pokemon...So I did this twice and still couldn't take the gym lol
 
I caved and picked up the APK early.

I went on a short walk around the neighbourhood.

On the outward trip, I found a bug, 3 birds, a rabbit and a Rattata.

On the return trip I was more lucky, finding 4 more Rattata, some bats, a Pidgey, 2 Weedle, an Oddish and an Eevee, and found one more Weedle in the crockery cabinet when I got home.

To take over a gym you need keep winning to reduce the reputation to zero. The pokemon will stay there until rep hits zero, then they will all leave and the gym will be neutral with no pokemon. For the higher level gyms with more pokemon, it can take an extremely long time. Just keep beating it, keep an eye on the reputation on the gym screen (when you first click on the gym), and pray you don't get hit by the 1 hp glitch!

Did you meet anyone else playing it? It would probably be rare since it isn't official.
 
LOL i met some of my neighbors! (we live in quiet apartments.. but me and my wife ran into another dude across the way collecting pokemans too!)

Also.. my ultimate goal is to get pictures of my daughter with EVERY POKEMON!

I managed to keep Picachu alive 5x longer the second attempt at a gym (after reviving him from losing the first attempt) just by dodging so definitely highly useful.

I saw someone else walking around looking at their phone, but they were a teenager so I think that's just default behaviour.

Edit: Also the local shops aren't pokéspots. I hope there's some on the high street.

I went to fight a 369 Vaporeon at a gym.

I used a 447 Jolteon.

I feel like this should be an obvious win but barely did any damage on that thing.

What's that about? I was doing minimal damage while they were doing huge hits even though it kept saying 'super effective' for me.

I just don't get this game. The dodging / fighting mechanic is so goofy.
