Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I use AR when playing with my daughter (age 5). She goes bat shit over this game. I use it for a reward system. "Do your chores or a lesson and we'll go Pokemon hunting." Only down side is the catching them is difficult for her. She wasted a ton of pokaballs.

Introduced the game to a couple of friends in the UK today. A proper look of childlike joy when they caught their first AR Pokemon. Properly amazing.

Probably been asked/answered already but can you switch team after you pick one? Seems like I'm literally the only one who picked Team Articuno where I live, and all my friends betrayed me as well ç_ç

I'm talking about level 20+ peeps. I'm also level 15 and also didn't spent a cent on it (since it's not out in Germany). Sure getting to 20+ is possible but seeing how much I played, I think some people definitely purchased some coins to get some lures.

So does anyone know exactly how to place a lure? A friend and I were at a Pokestop last night and he couldn't place a lure. The icon was "grayed out" and he wasn't able to select it. Any tips?

This only happened to me when I experienced network trouble the first few days. Once they fixed it yesterday, it hasn't asked me since. Login is instantaneous.

Maybe, but at least where I live you can find lures active pretty much 24/7

More often than not in just too lazy to hit them up

I found that lure + incense works pretty well and reduces the amount of time not hatching eggs.
 
Where the Charmander at in London? Haven't had made a journey to central London yet but I know there's a variety to be found. Really want a Ninetails too.

I hate the gym battles. Just a mess of lag for me.

Do you have any? You don't get one until you hit a certain level. Except for Pokeballs everything I've seen that was grayed out meant I didn't have one in my inventory.
 
These servers really are dogshit. I expected it the first couple of days but now it's gone from acceptable to really annoying. It wouldn't be nearly as bad if you didn't have to manually sign in every goddamned time.

You select the PokéStop and between the spinning circle and the PokéStop name, there's a little space you can tap that opens up a separate item menu where you can select your Lure.

But buying what? I've shelled out for some lucky eggs and incubators and I have shit.

This experience is increasingly frustrating on the competitive side, as much as I've enjoyed everything overall. I work 45+ hours a week and go to school full time. I have social obligations, academic obligations, life obligations. The only time I get to play this is when I take my dogs out for a walk three times a day for 20-30 minutes max. I've been trying to play as efficiently as possible, maximizing my lucky egg, incense, and incubator usage. I've even bought a few of all of these (probably like $7 total so far). I'm still only level 9, my highest CP Pokemon is a 492 Pidgeot, because that and Rattata's are the only thing that appear with any level of consistency. After this, my other Pokemon are terrible (CP 298 Raticate, 190 Eevee, 180 Staryu, etc). I can't figure out how to level or evolve my starter, because I've never gotten a Charmander from an egg and I've only found one outside, completely randomly. It's never spawned in this area again.

I found two Magikarps over the past three days by a lagoon on campus. I considered spending a weekend trying to farm them, but the hour I threw at it netted nothing. The Magikarp icon disappeared entirely from that area after the second one I caught.

Oh, and since I'm just whining about stuff why can't you take over gyms that your team already owns? I constantly regret picking Valor now because apparently everyone else in my town did as well, and everything is owned by Valor at this point.
