Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

My app crashes a lot. I saw lots of people outside playing but it hangs and often it crashes to a black screen with the Pokemon Go logo. I saw lots of other people rebooting too, lol.

Yeah it's flooded for the weekend. The two guys I talked to said they had to retry getting a Clefable five times cause it kept stalling out. I of course discover today the pokemon club registration is completely fubar and can't log back into my account I created yesterday, lost a bunch. Oh well, only a day's progress.

Seen 38, caught 38. Feels good mang.

I just went to the park again and there had to be at least 50 people playing at a Pokestop with lure. Was insane lol everyone was so nice to each other too. One guy asked me where Hitmonchan was and I pointed him in the right direction, somebody helped me get a Goldeen, etc...

Game is incredible.

For new page:

We need like an FAQ or something for these questions.

-Niantic has said they plan to add trading
-You get stardust and pokécoins for holding a gym for 24 hours (this bonus stacks for holding multiple gyms)
-You can't choose your Eeveelution
-Only the first 151 Pokémon are included so far, but there does not appear to be any way to catch Ditto, Mew, Mewtwo, or the legendary birds
-You can disable AR during battles so you don't look like a creep (see the switch at the top right when you are in a Pokémon encounter). This also saves some battery and makes Pokémon easier to catch
-Yes Pikachu is really a starter option
-The footsteps next to Pokemon silhouettes indicate relative distance
-Spin the image disc to make items drop from pokéstops; these stops refresh every five minutes (but may turn blue again before they are ready... Give it time)
-Many Pokémon have a chance to spawn anywhere, but their chance to appear is variable depending on environment (i.e. water Pokémon appear more often near water)
-You get to pick your team if you tap a gym after you reach trainer level 5; you do not need to be in range of the gym
-You cannot recover pokéballs that miss the target
-Yes Team Mystic is the superior team #SuperiorTeamMystic
-There is a bug where gym monsters get stuck on 1hp and you cannot defeat them, this can be remedied somewhat by not spamming taps, but there is still a chance it will happen to you (yes, we all know it sucks)
-If your Pokémon do not show up when the game loads, they haven't disappeared, but data may not be loading from the server
-Pay attention to the size of the color ring around Pokémon, the smaller it is the easier they will be to catch
-Pay attention to the color of the ring: green is easy, yellow is moderate, red is hard
-Yeah Magikarp actually requires 400 candies to evolve your eyes aren't playing tricks on you
-No one seems to agree on how exactly stats are influenced by height or weight or how max CP is decided so right now your guess is as good as anyone's (this includes whether or not it is best to power up or evolve first)
-Max CP for all your captured Pokémon is raised with your trainer level
-The game does not track steps toward egg hatching if the screen is off or the app is in background
-The game will not deliver notifications for nearby pokéstops, gyms, or Pokémon if the screen is off or the app is in background
-If you're moving too fast (i.e. Driving), you will not be able to add steps toward egg incubation (although you will inexplicably be able to do everything else)
-Moving grass may not always reveal a Pokémon
-Random encounters may occur without moving grass, even if you remain still
-Again, yes, Team Mystic is the best team

Went cycling home after working late today and encountered a CP?? Jigglypuff.

I never saw one before that and I was anxious to catch it. I threw like 3 pokéballs but my aim was off and it just ran the hell away.

I'll get you next time, you singing pink bastard. You'll learn to love me.

Had a terrible glitch.

I was sacrificing a Weedle to the Prof, and after I hit transfer, it said "You got 1 Charmander candy", confused, I checked my Pokemon screen again, and my Charmander AND the Weedle were gone!

That was my starter, too :(

Wow didn't know this. Weird though, incubating is like the least dangerous thing you can do while driving

Mystic sucks.

No that's too painful. burn it all down. new character or delete the app.

I just flicked like 20 balls at a Pokemon. What am I doing wrong? I waited for the circle to get small. I even hit the thing with a ball a couple times.

I caught a level 443 charizard the other day. Took like 50 pokeballs. My SO was with me and a Charizard popped up for him too, but his was like a level 10. I think I was level 6 at the time and he was a level 3.

Was it breaking out or were you just missing? And you don't always need the circle to be small. For most of them I just flick the pokeball "high" and let it land on them

50 and it didn't run? Lucky.

I think the circle is supposed to be as big as possible. Every time I wait for it to be big I get a Nice Shot.

At the Mann Center in Philadelphia for the Pokemon Symphonic Evolutions tour. First show since GO launched, they mentioned. Everyone's playing, of course.

When I was out in west LA today, I'm not exaggerating, I'd say about 50% of the people I saw walking around were playing Pokémon Go. I really don't understand the mainstream hype. Granted, most of the people I saw playing were in their 20s, so they probably grew up with the IP. But it's still a bit strange.

What's the point of highlighting the Pokemon on the bottom right of the screen??

The footmarks denote relative distance. One is close, three is a 3-5 minute walk away.

When you highlight one of the nearby pokemon it keeps it on the main screen so you can track whether you're getting closer or farther away from the pokemon you want by looking at the amount of footmarks. If it goes from two to three, you're going the wrong way.

Basically it's a way to help you track that one greyed-out Pokemon you're looking for.

That's awesome. It'd be cool if they had rare pokemon at pokemon related events like that.

Went out to the park today to walk and hatch a couple eggs. Got a Sandshrew from my 5k one and 0.16 away from hatching my 10k one. Even with it raining there were still a ton of people out driving around playing.

I wish the AR would work on my phone -- hopefully, they'll patch a fix in. It's kind of ridiculous that it can't figure out the orientation of my phone when my phone can ...
