Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Dumb question alert: do the Pokemon spawn randomly anywhere? I don't really want people trying to go through the gate to my backyard without me knowing.

Holy fuck, yall should hit up a cemetery. So many pokestops and pokemans

Yeah, there's one just down the street from where I am and it has, from what I saw, ~20 PokeStops. I would feel weird just walking around a cemetery trying to reach all the stops though lol.

EDIT: Not to mention setting up a Lure Module there. I can just imagine people showing up in droves haha

i tried to restart it and so on.

sometimes the app works, sometimes it wont surpass the loading screen.

Wait. Sounds like a server issue. That's exactly what happened every time the server went down for me.

It seems like they have intentionally placed pokemon along established map locations such as roads, parks and other populated places to keep people from 1. going into dangerous areas alone and 2. going into peoples private property.

Not fun, but probably a wise choice.

It was established, it even had each individual trail on the game map and there were 2 pokestops in the middle of those areas that never had any pokemon show up near them at all.

I guess they don't want kids running out of eyesight of parents. That makes sense.

This game is a cool diversion but it has so much more potential. I really hope there are truly substantial updates and additions down then road.

There is a Pokestop pretty close to my house; you can actually see it from my front door. It's been fun watching kids and adults stopping by and getting items all day long.

GG Nintendo.

The spawn area for immediately local pokemon is within 50 meters. No one should need to go into your backyard unless your backyard is enormous. Standing in front should work just as well. Also, pokemon tend to be spawned along roads and other mapped public places most commonly rather than the spaces inbetween.

Although if someone is on the hunt and doesnt know exactly where it is, they might want to try going in your backyard to see if its closer. Thats their poor judgement though rather than the game's fault. It's bound to get someone in trouble some time soon.

I have the same phone. I had to make sure that "allow mock locations" was unchecked in developer options before I could get the game to load.

The games servers tend to randomly wig out also.

iam located in germany, my flat-mate has a google nexus 5 and it works flawlessly for him.

we even started it at the same time, he never faces any problems, while i am not even able to see the starting-screen :(

Cool, thanks!

Oh man I wish it was summer I would buy some lures then the kids could setup the lemonade stand they keep wanting to do, on the boardwalk near our house where two stops are,
they'd make a fucking fortune. Unfortunately by then the idea will have been mined out.

It could still be the servers. Especially because it's not out in your country yet. I was out with two friends yesterday and one of us would randomly drop fom the server while the other two would have no problems and still be able to catch Pokemon.

All of my nearby gyms have cps of 600+. How is that possible? I'm topping out at 200 with a crappy bellsprout.
I got super lucky with a 10 km egg and got a ~500 cp Lapras. She's currently at 793 with me at level 8. I haven't been powering up my other Pokemon because I want to save candy for evolving.

I'll see if my luck holds with my next 10 km egg.

Is there a bug when fighting in a gym and the opponent just doesn't die? It looks like he is like 1 hit left but won't die even after I attack with 6 Pokemon.

This gym is weak and I want to own it but I've wasted like twenty potions, I keep getting wiped out and I can't kill anyone. How fix?

The one thing I like about Pokemon GO so far, is that it feels more believable than the mainline games in the way it handles Pokemon. I could totally understand there being 10-20 kinds of Pokemon in my neighborhood, rather than an entire highway being just 4 different Pokemon. I think one of the major problems with the mainline games is that they still stick to that tired formula of gating off certain areas to specific Pokemon, for no reason other than "that's how we've always done it". The idea of having a chance to find a rare Pokemon anywhere is just much better than having a specific plot of grass to look in--like every Rhyhorn on the entire island only hangs out in the 40x40 plot of land...

I've been on a trip for a few days and don't have a compatible phone right now so I haven't been able to play this yet.

I just saw a group of people walk past my house playing this.

AR is such a neat concept but I thought it was limited to cards etc.

I'm also ashamed to admit I did not know about ingress.

Anyways I think AR will be taking off before VR now and I'm not the only one.

Pokémon Go Will Slingshot Augmented Reality Past Virtual Reality

What a neat game too. I love the stories of meeting new people or kayaking out to the gym.

A quirp I have with this game is that there is no relationship formed with your pokemon. I mean sure, you can name an Arcanine Mr. Scruffles and all, but once you capture one or two other's with higher CP, guess where Mr. Scruffles is going, back into the wild.

Pokemon in this game are so easily disposable. I wish they'd have a better system of leveling, or at least make it more challenging.

So far I'm really liking this game, hopefully at some point they fix the gym glitches. I've been unable to attack 2 of the gyms in my town because the pokemon keep becoming invincible, then stop attacking my pokemon as if to deny me escape. Can't run, can't switch pokemon, countdown timer just gets stuck at 0. Only option is to do a hard reset, and after logging in I can't attack the gym for a long time afterwards.

My GPS is way off tonight and I have no idea why but it keeps having me walk back and forth giving me steps to hatch eggs and random pokemon showing up so I ain't complaining

All this game wants me to do is go to the local churches! :P

So I've been driving around all day and I kept seeing groups of people on their phones most likely playing this game. I've seen all types of people from little kids to grown adults and I must say it makes me happy to see people enjoying a franchise that I have enjoyed since I was a kid. I have played a little myself and while it is no where near as fun as the main games I am still glad others are enjoying it.

My wife accidentally purchased $20 of coins in app. We immediately asked Google for a refund and they gave us one. The problem is the coins were left in her account. A couple days later she ran out of balls and used the coins to buy more balls. So I'm really hoping she doesn't get a ban or anything. She says she feels really dirty for having done that, but we had been hunting down a Vulpix and finally found it and she was out of balls.
