Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

What do you guys think of this idea?

I think it's perfect, especially for the scenario that you catch a pokemon that you can only get outside of your local area and couldn't level up otherwise unless you were to go out again.

Yep this would be fun. Another option is a sort of "mission system" similar to other mobile games where you send a Pokemon out. In this case it would work like Gyms where you can select a Pokemon to go out. They could return back with things like their candy (or even others you have!) Eggs, balls, etc.

Can't believe how big this game has gotten since it released.

I wonder if there's any way Nintendo can expand on the concept for the NX Pokemon if it does have a standard home console and handheld hybrid.
Release this on their next handheld so people don't have to drain their phone battery? It'll sell like hot cakes.

Also, do they actually have prototype Plus accessories working, The whole point is so you can have leave the phone in your pocket but I can't see it working unless you still have the phone screen on. Maybe sell the Plus accessory to work properly with their next handheld and they're set.

Holy crap. My gym just hit lvl 8.
Team yellow is gathering something fierce!

I don't understand the gym level.
if you see a gym level 7 say with a CP 183 pokemon, does that mean you have a chance if you have a higher CP or does it entirely depend on the weakness and strength setup of what you have vs what is at the gym?
thanks.
edit: to refine the question, if a gym is owned by "my team" what determines how I place a pokemon there to help.

it's 11:35 pm and I ran out of Pokeball, I don't know if I should go my nearest poke center and get a few... but I wanna keep playing.

Even if you beat a single person you can grind away at the gym.

Elemental weaknesses do work and it's a good idea to exploit that.

The higher level a gym is, the more pokemon can be in it. For example, a level 7 gym can have up to 7 pokemon in it. In order to take over the gym, you need to keep beating all of the pokemon (in a row) until the reputation reaches zero. To look at the other pokemon in the gym, swipe left or right when you're on the gym screen.

It means there's 7 slots for trainers of the same colour to place Pokémon to guard the gym.

This game is a buggy nightmare. My girlfriend and a couple that we're friends with are obsessed with the game nonetheless. They are going out for walks in parks here in Florida when it's 97 degrees out, down from 105 at the high.

This game is miserable to me, as I have zero desire to explore outside in this heat, but it does seem exactly like it's the foundation for a real life Pokémon experience. We're walking around a college town and EVERYWHERE WE WENT had groups of people staring at their phones. In the Gameboy games, you'd explore a continent with groups of people just standing around waiting to talk about Pokémon.

Once battling is implemented, and the mountain of bugs are fixed, this would interest me, but by that time, I bet the game's status will be brimming with overpowered people and Pokémon, killing all enjoyment from the game.

I was thinking of doing this as a thread but posting here will work for now =P

So ... what do you guys think about if they made REGION SPECIFIC POKEMON ?

Like ... EUA/Japan/Australia has the first 150, the next few countries have the Gold/Silver/Crystal new 100, other countries have the 135 from Ruby/Saphirre and so on ?

People aren't going to buy an expensive handheld in order to play an app that is free on devices they already own.

As long as they keep anything beyond the original 151 out of the USA I'm good.

That really sucks for the countries that don't get the first 151, which contain Pokemon like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard, Jigglypuff, and Meowth that are the most popular in the franchise.

And it sucks for people like me who would want to catch the later Pokemon.

Whats supposed to happen when you transfer Pokemon? After I said yes I'm sure it just sat there until I backed out. My Pokemon is gone but I don't have any more rattata candy than I did before.

I think that the amount of salt generated by those who aren't in the same region as their favorite pokemon would be insane. It's a cool concept, but in practice you're just locking people out of content that they'll never be able to afford.

That's a pretty funny thought, but nah. I do hope they more exclusively distribute pokemon as they add in later generations, but not to that extent.

I don't care about anything past gen 1, but the idea of being introduced to Pokemon I don't recognize is super exciting. My sister was never into Pokemon and she's getting introduced to it now and every silhouette is incredibly exciting to her because she has no idea what it could be.

even with being Lvl12 and with incense, when i walk around my area what I mainly find are Drowzees...at least I've been able to (somewhat) level up my Hypno pretty easily
also seems to be the case with everyone in downtown (Toronto), since basically every gym I've seen has a high level/CP Hypno (or Jynx) as the leader

Pokemon company partners with Japan Airlines huh

That would be real bad. You just know crazy people would start booking vacaycays just to go pokemon hunting

The only gym near me is so far from any sidewalk or road that it's on private property

Feels bad, man

Blegh, these sort of portals back on Ingress were supposed to be scrubbed out of the system. All portals/Pokestops/Gyms are supposed to be on public areas that anyone can access at some point (some are in parks or amusement parks with closing times).
Sorry that one's still around, dude. Hopefully once things get cleaned up with the game there can be more management of the real world spots.

This game is a problem. went to the mall today and literally everyone had their heads down on their phones playing it. Fad needs to die quickly

Best trick I learned was when driving have your passenger drop an incense and catch the Pokemon for you. The incense draws them closer so you don't have to drive all over.

The only complaints I have is that the game is buggy and the poke balls per level need to increase. 50 balls per level instead of 20-30 would be nice.

We are just beta testers though compared to what this game will be like by Christmas

I spent 10 dollars so far but just mostly on incense. I am not going pass 20 dollars on this game. I learned how great Pokemon stops were in my area. 10-15 balls every 5 minutes because they are so close to each other

Long as they keep the other 500 shitty Pokemon away and leave America with the good old Original 251 I'd allow it.

How is that any different than usual?

It's more me not liking the game all that much and it being extremely popular, but this was different than usual. People running all over the place trying to catch stuff, etc. I'm use to seeing less people on their phones in this case actually lol

Man what a blast. Went back to the outdoor mall. Saw and talked with a bunch of people. Cars were blasting pokemon music, everyone was having a great time.

Lol another dewgong popped and I can hear people running up and down my street asking which way to go. I have never ever had this ever happen before. Glad I already got one as I'm going to bed. It's just amazing to see people all strangers talking to each other and tagging along to grab stuff

I'm tired of this game thinking I'm moving around all over the fucking place when I'm standing still. It's preventing me from taking on gyms.

Local park has 12-14 pokestops, 3 gyms in less than half mile. Lures everywhere, maxing out bag. Got 90 Pokemon in like hour and half. My neighborhood? Walk 2 miles captured 3 Pokemon
