Great write up Hawkian. Appreciate the effort!
Is there a reason why I can't add my Pokemon to a gym of the same colour if there's only 1 Pokemon there?
I can only train the gym
Mew is this ultra-rare little thing. Niantic probably saves it for community event.
I won't deny that my phone is trash. But the game is clearly also trash, especially if you don't live in a city where walking around everywhere is a reasonable thing to do.
Ahhh, thought thought it was meant as "Mew" type.
Today shall be interesting, work as a motorcycle courier in London, i can see journeys taking a *little* longer today with all those opportunities!

Started yesterday, Living in a mostly rainy area surrounded by forest made me pick Charmander. Was rewarded by getting bulbasaur and Squirtle. My little me from 15 years ago would be proud of that start. Also catched an abra a golbat and a scyther. This thing is going to kill my battery, I know it.
While this game is not perfect and has a lot of flaws, this game is no where close to being trash compared to many mobile games out there.
There are two things I still don't get though. First, what does the order in the "nearby" window signify? I've seen the order of 3 paw print Pokemon constantly get rearranged. Sometimes they go from the end to the front to the middle of the pack. To illustrate:
.
I mean, yeah, lots of trash things can be perceived as "not trash" when compared with something that's even worse like the majority of mobile games.
But compared to actually good games, yeah, it's trash.
It seems to pretty much have just two gameplay mechanics:
1) Wander around aimlessly in the hope of running into Pokemon. Which, as I've said, isn't really reasonable unless you live in a city.
2) Once you encounter a Pokemon, you throw a Pokeball at it with really bad touch controls that seem to exist solely so that you'll miss a lot and waste Pokeballs and have to buy more.
That is my experience so far, and it hasn't made me interested in experiencing the game any further.
That... makes an embarrassing amount of sense. I'm not sure why I didn't make that connection. Any theories on the second thing? They're ordered from closest to farthest away from you, so they shuffle around if you move closer to one/farther from another. The step icons is how far it is away from you, less icons the closer it is.

This honestly terrifies me.
I don't want to live in a world where Nintendo gives up on hardware and traditional gaming and goes all in on mobile games with microtransactions and no proper button controls. But if they continue seeing this kind of success with mobile games and the NX flops, that's a real possibility.
It would kill a significant portion of my interest in video games if that happened.
I don't have any interest in the game, but a bunch of people on my Facebook feed who never talk about video games have been talking about it.
Frankly, its popularity kinda scares me. I don't want Nintendo to see so much success on mobile that they move significant resources over to supporting phone games. I have no interest in gaming on my phone with no buttons.

Is it safe to download this from the UK or do I risk getting banned?
Loads of us have been playing from the UK with no bannings reported yet.Is it safe to download this from the UK or do I risk getting banned?
It's honestly so disappointing how they didn't use the full breadth of Pokemon. Damn genwunners.
I really wanna see people who haven't played Pokemon since Red encountering Trubbish in the wild. The game would be more magical if it was less nostalgia and more discovery.
Man's House "Accidentally" Becomes a Pokemon Go Gym.
I feel sorry for the guy =P He's slightly wrong about his info. It's a gym because it's a historic building, not because it's a church. Same way churches are gyms because they're historic buildings, not because they're churches. But it must still suck when the game is so popular.

The concern about rural areas not getting enough pokemon is legitimate, and I wonder what, if anything, niantic will do about it. The pokeball system is fine though, the controls don't feel broken at all, and no one should buy pokeballs when pokestops throw them at you.
Just do it I'm in the uk it'll be fine.
Your phone will explode.
But really you'd just be contributing to already overworked servers making it even harder for those in the released territories to play the game effectively. You'll be directly responsible for a few lost pokemon and 1hp glitches. But nothing will happen to you.
Apparently my apartment is secretly Clefairy cave. Caught a lot of them at home, won't complain tho. I can now evolve one.
To those with more experience in mobile and free 2 play gaming:
As how aggressive do you perceive the monetization in Pokemon Go? How much is the meta economy centered around incentivising players to buy items for cash?
It's so crazy that millions of people are enjoying it but you're the only one smart enough to see it as the complete shit that it really is.I mean, yeah, lots of trash things can be perceived as "not trash" when compared with something that's even worse like the majority of mobile games.

All I want is a fighting and psychic Pokemon. They're IMPOSSIBLE to find out here in Oklahoma. Machamp is probably my favorite of the Gen 1 Pokemon, but never seen a Machop anywhere.
I live in the countryside and although stuff appear on the road outside of the development I live on (just caught an eevee there) nothing seems to spawn at my house![]()
I hope they do something about it. I find kind of sad that running 10km outside of the city didn't spawn a single pokemon to catch, while walking in a busy street would net me many. The concern about rural areas not getting enough pokemon is legitimate, and I wonder what, if anything, niantic will do about it.
