Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Evolved my Eevee last night into Vaporeon, I was happy but looking at it... I had water types so I could probably use the Jolteon/Flareon more, Eevee for me has been one of the easier ones to evolve though.

Just got my Pidgeot this morning.

So when I follow a Pokemon and have it down to 1 paw print and then it disappears from my nearby list completely, that means it despawned, right? No use in trying to pick up the trail again?

Do you guys know about this?

Has anyone tried accessing the same account from different devices? I signed into my Google account so I'm hoping that I can access my data from both my phones.

Not always. Sometimes the gps updates are a bit delayed. Head back a bit and see if it reappears. If it doesn't it's gone.

I live in the UK, and have an iPhone.

I heard that I can download it by changing my region settings on my iPhone to US, log out of my Apple ID, and then create a US Apple ID.

Are there any drawbacks to this? Can I play it if I then switch back to my "proper" Apple ID?

And when it releases in the UK, will I then be able to download it and continue with all my progress? I want to play, but if there are going to be any issues with doing so whatsoever, I'll wait.

If it uses the Google Maps API why is the Google Maps view of my neighborhood correct but the Pokemon GO one implies I live in a field? Also, I don't think it uses enough data for something like this to really make a difference. It has a shockingly low footprint, and as long as you keep AR off the battery usage really isn't bad.

I did this and it works mostly fine, except I can't make any in app purchases as it was downloaded with another Apple ID.

I live in Austria in a very very small village yet both of our Arena's are taken by someone else when the game isn't even officially out yet. wow

My haul using one incense just now:

Weedle
Pidgey
Weedle
Weedle
Pidgey

Yeah, fuck. I'm not using these ones at home anytime soon.

Maybe I've been lucky, but every time I've bothered tracking down a pokemon using the "Nearby" function (like 6 times successfully so far), by the time it's down to 1 footprint remaining I've always seen the pokemon on the edge of my avatar's detection circle.

I used to have that. For some reason there's fourth stage for me now, no footprints. Once all prints are gone I have to wait a bit for it to appear.

Worked for me using my current and older phone.
I can transfer multiple pokemon at once, but can't exploit it by transferring the same pokemon for 2 candies (it will say an error occurred). I can mess with menus on one phone and catch with the other.
Not sure why they let you sign into multiple phones at once. I haven't tested it yet, but it seems like someone might be able to catch more and faster if they share an account and travel to different areas.

Just downloaded my local area map to test this out, not a bad idea if true.

EDIT: It did seem to load the map pretty quick just now... might just be in my head though.

Just found it on 9gag... the guys claims most of the (not thaaat high) data usage is caused by the app loading maps everytime you open it. So if you can save a few MB that's good enough for me.... especially for people with low data caps.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure, it loads the App a bit quicker for me too.

Yep you switch your phone back to UK region and log your proper Apple ID back in and play fine. The only drawback is that you can't make in app purchases on your proper ID.

Also you have the make a Pokemon trainer club account when you first play so I'm assuming when it releases here I'll be able to just sign in with that and carry on with my progression and be able to buy stuff from the cash shop.

I'm working right now and popped an incense. Lots of duplicate pokemon but I just got a CP 135 Vulpix; I didn't have one yet so I'm pretty okay with that.

So there's this gym down the road from me with one trainer. He has a Phyduck at 274 HP and on blue.

I'm trying to add my Pokemon to the gym as I'm also on blue, but its making me battle first. Okay so I pull out my 500 crab, defeat the Phyduck easily, but the reputation for the gym increases from 1250 to 1350 / 200. Sure so I got to hit 2000/2000 to add my Pokemon.

I sat there for 30 minutes and hit 2000/2000. Once the final battle was complete, the reputation dropped down to 150/2000 with still no option to add my Pokemon. What is going on?, why has the rep reset, why isn't there an option to add my Pokemon?

This gym in on a ferry wharf, and there wasn't anybody else around, why can I not add my 500CP pokemon to this gym when its only owned by a single 274 Phyduck, and we're both on blue....

Disneyland is ridiculous for Pokemon Go. There are like 100 PokeStops on the park property that constantly have lures on them. I was consistently hitting a PokeStop a minute while walking. Caught Growlithe, Rhyhorn, Kabuto, Meowth, Machop, Golduck, Dratini, Drowzee, Onyx, Omanyte, Exeggcute, Tauros, Arbok, Staryu, Charmander, Squirtle and more just while walking through the park as normal with my family.

Hooooly shitt... truly the land of dreams. Now I wanna go wander around Disneyland...

Good day for me. Caught a Rhyhorn, Polliwag, Seel, weepingbell, Diglett, Ekans, Psyduck, Onyx, Raticate, Nidorina, Nidorino and Voltorb. I also now have a 900+ vaporeon and my jolteon is 700+. This damn game is so addicting.

Also took over a gym while out and saw someone standing there and they quickly put another Pokemon back in after I booted them and then rode off on their bike so I just yelled out " don't worry I'll kick this one out too! Team Mystic take over!".

How's everyone doing on the pokedex? For now I'm more interested in just catching as many uniques as I can; haven't really messed with gyms much.

Right now I'm at 28 caught : 30 seen.

Fucking nidoran female ran after a single thrown ball and a charmander the app crashed on.

Edit: Make that 29 : 31. Just caught a Machop.

Think the game is surprisingly fun. Will need to test it a bit more, but the inclusion of the Pokémon franchise makes it much more interesting than Ingress.

It bums me out the road I live on is desolate and at work I cant reach anything either.
What actually causes the pokemon/stops and such to spawn?

As people have said I went out yesterday and walked around a national trust place and outside of the building I came across 2 rats in the whole hours + walk.

2:00 AM coming home from my friends house, this baby pops up on the nearby list and we go searching for it.

Haven't seen Chansey yet at all anywhere so I'm feelin pretty excited about it.

Right? I'm excited over Pokémon I've never cared about before.

Had a really funny thing happen this morning. I decided to take 2 of my local gyms back this morning on my walk to the train station. One is a pub right next to the station and the other is the station itself.

So I took the pub and trained it up a little and then took the station back from the entrance and then walked to my platform. Thought I would then train it up once I got to my platform so I fought myself and after the battle it went to be neutral so I thought it had glitched and then it suddenly the gym changed to another teams colour so I realised someone else had taken it. So I'm there looking around for who it is and see this guy look round and smile at me so I just smiled back. I was then rushing to quickly take it back and build it up before he could take it back and the train arrived. Luckily he realised he couldn’t compete and gave up eventually so I won the battle in the end :)

I can only imagine what it's going to be like once the game actually releases here in the UK instead of just being the people who know how to download it.

That suntan lotion is so accurate. I only ever needed it at the beach or when hiking in the mountains but I started noticing I've been getting tanlines because of how often I'm out due to Pokemon Go.

It's kinda bizarrely awe-inspiring to see how quickly this game's blown up, despite the state it's in.

Memes rolling in

Locations getting in on the action

Police and Governments giving warnings about it

It's like...you knew Pokemon was big, but this is like...affecting everyday life big.

I fully expect someone to cut a deal Pokemon Go data usage deal in the future for 'Unlimited Go' usage across 4G
