Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

maybe i'm getting old but why the fuck is it so difficult to start a damn game? can't remember my fucking pokemon trainer account login and apparently i can't restart my google account. can't even pick a damn name without it already being used.

Is the basic rule of thumb to just evolve the pokemon that has the highest CP? Or would you consider the 57 here because he has XL.
Lol! If you favor the fatter Rattata, go for it! (the XS and XL stuff has no effect, it's just flavor)

Actually, I'm not sure it matters about the CP either. The evolved version you get will have a new (much higher) CP based on your trainer level- don't think the starting CP actually affects it much. But no reason not to use the higher CP one anyway in this case, the other one is being turned into Candy either way!

For the gym crushers

Considering there are Dark, Steel, etc moves, it might be more accurate to find one with those types in the chart too.

I'm having a few troubles. I can't get ar mode to work.
Also after a catch a Pokemon. It just stays on the screen staring at the pokeball. Any help?

Unfortunately I can't imagine this game blowing up in Denmark. But nobody really expected it to become the success story it currently is, so who knows.

Ok, downloaded this last night and reached level 3. I read when I hit level 5 I can start battles? Also, anytime an alert sounds off, I lose all sounds for the app. I'm playing on my Note 3 for reference. Any pointers at this point on what to do?

Maybe I'm dumb, but I just noticed the weather effects in the background of the Pokémon stat screen match the type of Pokémon, i.e. desert for Rhyhorn, forest for Spearow. That's a cool detail!

My game crashed when I hit level 5 and it now doesn't seem to want to let me join a team :(
You're at a Gym?

I seem to lose sound a lot too.

As far as what to do, go explore! If you have Pokestops obviously close by to you, head toward them. Check out what Pokemon are in your nearby tracker, and hunt 'em. Start working on any eggs you get right away (on a tab in your pokemon menu), evolve trusty Rattatas and Pidgeys as soon as you can.
Wish there was a way to toss eggs

These 2km useless fucks don't even deserve to be born
Disagree

XP and Candy which often means more XP, and the fastest to complete. I can incubate the hell out of a 2k egg in about 8 minutes on my bike.

So I think I'm starting to grow tired of the game already. The game is essentially an interactive fitness app (currently anyway), and since I already regularly go for walks and hikes, I find using this during such outings kind of takes away the reason I'm out there in the first place.

Plus, all the gyms near me are already being held down by Pokemon that are way stronger than any I have the will to actually get around to leveling to that extent.

In the end, I think it's a super neat app that is great for a lot of people to actually get them outside, but I'm not sure the game has staying power for me personally.

My number one wish for this game is a mode where it'll still run and track my location while minimized or with the screen off. Then I could just put it in my pocket and wait for it to vibrate.

No, the game is heavily biased to attackers. Basically, as long as you can beat even one of their Pokemon, you can knock their prestige down. If you knock their prestige down long enough, you can reduce the number of Pokemon defending it, and repeat this and you can get it down to just one defender. So, as long as your best six can beat the one single strongest Pokemon defending the gym, you can eventually take it (although you'll need a tonne of revives).

you get partial credit even it seems. so even if you can only get the first pokemon down to half health, you can still remove 250 prestige from the gym, etc.

so with enough revives and potions.. yes you could even remove a gym filled with 1800s. not to say it will be easy.. but yeah the game definitely seems to what you are saying. way easier to take over a gym than keep it.

on that note.. there was a gym with 600s in it.. and my buddy and I (red and blue, it was a yellow gym) worked together to take it down. he DEFINITELY had the stronger pokemon.. so I took it, grabbed my disbursement, then he kicked me out. so if there is a hard gym, it is beneficial to get multiple people there, even from different teams, to take it down.

supposedly this is exactly what Pokemon Go Plus is when it ships. the watch accessory will let you collect stops and "attempt" to capture pokemon with the press of a button. from the info it looks like the app will need to be running, but could be in your pocket in battery saving mode.

I haven't seen the "server issues" image all day, but for the last two hours I haven't been able to get a GPS signal at all. I'm always standing in the endless ocean.

I really should try to level up more instead of finding a pokemon I like and leveling it up every time I have enough powder, sounds like i'd be better off.

Finally met some other players in real life at two nearby Poke Stops. Both were really cool dudes. Although, one of them was a dirty Team Valor member! But it was so weird to be face-to-face with people talking about Pokemon. Normally that's only something I do on the internet these days. It was like being in Middle School all over again.

Playing this game made me go back and start replaying the older pokemon games... still so good, all these years later.

Also, I absolutely cannot understand why fighting in gym battles doesn't level up your pokemon. I could understand if you could buy stardust/candies, because then they would be pushing for microtransactions, but as is, your pokemon gets nothing for winning. I wouldn't expect a lot, but at least something. A balanced reward IMO would be to give all 6 pokemon in your attacking party (or at least the ones that actually fought) the equivalent of one "power up" whenever you neutralize a gym, maybe make it once an hour to prevent two players on opposite teams from exploiting it. (even though they already can do that for large amounts of EXP)

Yeah, I'm feeling that same thing.I'm to busy working out most days a week, that the rest days I do allow myself I'm to damn tired to go walk aimlessly.

Took a gym with mainly my 190 Drownzee and 950 Snorlax. Beat two <200 Oddish, two 700+ Vaporean and one 700+ Jolteon.

Feels good man.

Battery saver under settings turns the screen off. Unfortunately sometimes when you start is back up the screen is unresponsive.

So I finally gave in and downloaded over lunch and I'm still confused about this whole screen/battery/active app thing even after reading 5 different faqs.

So if your screen shuts off after a minute, does that mean the game ceases to function? It sounds so crazy but that's what the faqs seem to say. At least google play music will still play in the background and trump the game's audio, that worried me going in.

Go to the in game settings and click power save. If you put the phone upside down in your pocket the screen turns down but vibrate and sound still work.
