Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

as of now it only works when it is the active battery sucking app that it is. There is no way to make it work with the screen off as far as i know, barring some kind of jailbreak option where you are literally shutting the screen down but the phone thinks its still on.

It must be on, open, active, burning bright into the sky (there is a battery saver option that dims the screen if you physically turn the phone upside down but it isn't that great).

Damn. Just damn.
Thanks guys.

so is the starter Pokemon pretty much useless? CP still at 25 lol and the rest of mine are hundred+

I want my Charmander to be strong 😑
I'm evolving my original Squirtle, I don't care how long it takes or how many high CP sacrifices must be made.

You'll all be sorry when we learn that this is the only way to unlock Ultra Evolutions.

Latent egg KM logging caused my eggs to hatch after my lucky egg expired but before I could do the next. Too bad you can't extend lucky egg time...

Is there a Mystic one? I'd like to add them to the OP lmao

EDIT: Here we go. RIP to mobile users I think

So after the update all the maps showing each Pokemon's catch location is zoomed waaaaaay out. It used to e really close, so like if I caught a Pokemon at the corner of a park, the mao would be nearly centered on that exact corner. Now it's so far out you can't tell individual blocks at all. Anyone know if this is the same for Pokemon caught after the update as well?

The change totally makes sense for privacy reasons, since it'd be kind of creepy if you could look at someone's Pokemon and tell exactly where they had been I guess, but at the same time it was really cool to know eactly where each Pokemon was from. It made them each a little more unique, and you could look at the map and remember exactly where you were when you found it.

So do some special moves have secondary effects? Maybe it's just placebo but I feel like my opponents attacks slow down for a bit after I hit them with Discharge or Icy Wind.

Was wondering why it wouldn't open for me... just saw that it doesn't work on jailbroken devices. Does anyone know if there's a Cydia app that lets me bypass this restriction? I could un-jailbreak my iPhone but I'd rather not.

This game might be the best case scenario for spotty location services. I gained 0.2 km walking because my phone doesn't know where I am. Better than reality; me sitting at my desk.

I couldn't disagree more. I think the powersave option is amazing. I simply put my phone in my pocket, upside down, and then walk. I get a nice vibration when I am near a Pokemon. Plus, the screen doesn't get accidentally pushed due to the power save option disabling the screen.

Is our data stored server-side? Like, when it finally releases in the UK, can iPhone users download the "proper" version and continue where they left off?

That's awesome. I wish I could find Pokemon like that around my town. (Even better would be close to my house.)

Oh believe me it's not a common sight, but it is becoming slightly less rare now that I'm level 16. Though this was the first Aerodactyl that I've ever seen.

You should be able to. Other people who used the APK in the U.S. and later deleted it, redownloaded the "official" app, just picked up where they left off.

I would agree that as you level up, you see better stuff, but I still feel like I would never see an Aerodactyl around. It is properly rare, I suppose.

The downside: there is a pokestop at the intersection just outside my window at work, but the game thinks I'm half a block away so I miss out on easy items while sitting at my desk all day long :(

But now that your post made me realize I've been gaining egg km due to my guy running back and forth down the street while I sit here thanks to the gps not being able to figure out where I am, maybe it's not all bad.

I keep my phone horizontally in a pocket of my backpack while cycling, which doesn't activate it, and about 1 in 3 times when I pull it out of my pocket in battery saver mode I can no longer top on onscreen buttons or pokemon :(

So... who has caught a Farfetch'd? Kind of odd, but I haven't seen/heard of anyone with one yet (unless I missed one ITT).

Wow yeah I completely forgot about Farfetch'd. I haven't even heard mention of it since the game came out. Wonder if they forgot to put him in?

Too bad, embrace it. My Mom walked with me last night down two 3 poke-stops right next to each other with active lures. lol

She only real knows Pikachu. It's weird to imagine my mom playing Pokemon. I also am not allowed to download her any games because my dad is still pissed she plays Candy Crush non stop.

At least this will get her out of the house more

Haha, nice. Yeah my Mom knows Pikachu and probably Jigglypuff and that's it, but she's having fun walking around down and throwing poke-balls.

Doesnt load at all for me anymore since a few hours. Does it still work for other sideloaded users outside of official regions?

Oh yeah my parents are both playing together, it's hilarious. Then they asked which team to join, I said Yellow and my brother said Red. I think they were glad when we told them there was a third team so they could split the difference and avoid playing favorites.

What I love about pokemon Go, compared to many of the other mobile game I have spent time with:

1. There is no attempt to lock things contingent on me recruiting people to join the game or adding them on . I'm 37 years old and frankly half my friends don't care about this kind of shit, and the other half don't have time. This is normally my biggest pet peeve with mobile games

2. there is no "energy bar" that prevents me from playing when it runs out. Just a terrible, awful, way of making a game, and I hate it.
