Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

so is the starter Pokemon pretty much useless? CP still at 25 lol and the rest of mine are hundred+

I want my Charmander to be strong 😑

The starters serve more as a tutorial than anything else. They're not really useful beyond those first steps.

Better to go out and find a stronger Charmander and then feed it your starter "transfer" the first one.

She only real knows Pikachu. It's weird to imagine my mom playing Pokemon. I also am not allowed to download her any games because my dad is still pissed she plays Candy Crush non stop.

At least this will get her out of the house more

I don't think a game where your mom gets more fit is something that your dad could get upset about.

Got me an aerodactyl out of a 10km egg the other day! Was awesome, also ran out of pokeballs but had to go to campus for a doctor's appointment and there are about 15 pokestops on campus.

Also had my first "you playing pokemon go?" "which team you on?" experience today. And the games not even technically out here yet. Awesome.

Doesnt load at all for me anymore since a few hours. Does it still work for other sideloaded users outside of official regions?

Reposting for the new page: Are all "inofficial" Android users affected?

Went to buy an incubator from the shop, the app was nice enough to instead buy 3 for me... I mean, I'll use them, but I wasn't planning on spending my coins that way. Any one else run into this problem?

Patch notes anywhere?

?

Are you on ios? I got no update on android.

At one point I decided to power up one of my pokemon using 1 candy and about 800 stardust. It decided to use all my candy and all my stardust.

I did a friendly gym just now. It's got 6 but I was able to beat the first 2 and take the 3rd one down to almost dead. How do I get my pokemon to replace one of them?

Sure you bought 3? Each incubator you buy has 3 uses in it then it gets destroyed. Are so you sure you didn't misread it?

Hey, can anyone recommend a good (but also cheapish) tablet that can run the game without problems (I just mean problems with the tablet, like the tablet not being able to do AR or something)

2. there is no "energy bar" that prevents me from playing when it runs out. Just a terrible, awful, way of making a game, and I hate it.
The only "energy bar" is your own energy level ;) I love how I may feel sort of lethargic/tired but still feel that pull to join the hunt. Once I get out there after a few minutes I usually feel great.
Same goes for Ditto. According to http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Pokemon+GO/feature.asp?c=70672 those two, the legendary birds, Mew and Mewto are unaccounted for as of yet.
How did you get Farfetch'd in Red/Blue? I remember it being a thing.

So I haven't played Pokemon since the OG R/B gameboy version. I found what I think are some rare Pokemon in this game, but want to know if they're worth updating since resources are limited. Nobody in may area has any of these so I don't know if they are useful.

Chansey CP 215
Hitmonchan CP 463 (I got him out of a 10.0 egg, so it came with 23 candies)
Psyduck CP 394
Omanyte CP 78

My top guys currently are…

Vaporeon CP 1283
Vaporeon CP 1090 (I thought i was going to get a Jolteon but I guess it thought the Blue gym was closer even thought it wasn't)
Rhydon CP 756
Clefable CP 744
Parasect CP715

You can't. Once it levels up through people "training" then it'll add another slot for whoever was lucky enough to be the one adding the final XP to level it. :/

You could only get it in an trade with an NPC in Vermilion City. You could catch it in Yellow, though.

I may be the last to know this but dodge actually works.

The screen will flash yellow just before they attack, if you swipe about 1/2 second after you'll dodge, then you attack once and wait, you'll get it pretty consistantly. It also slows you down so you can mostly avoid the 1hp bug (which seems to be the result of attacking again before the animation finishes)

Only had trouble doing this with vaporeon so far, seems to have weird timing.

what's push notifications ?

Like if you have the Facebook app and someone posts on your wall, then it pops up on your phone. Basically notifications that don't require the app to be actively running.

It's interesting because that could mean they're working on getting the app to run without it having to be on all the time.

Oh darn. On the bright side, having a lot of them is *awesome*.

I'll be able to hatch my eggs faster now, that's for sure.

Does this work with both primary and secondary attacks?

From what I understand, the more you battle a friendly gym, the more experience points you add to it. Once you have accumulated enough, the gym itself will go up a level. At that point a new spot opens up.
So it seems your gym still needs more exp to go up a level.

It's sort of the same way for taking down an enemy gym but in reverse. It's not enough to just beat some pokemon, you have to drain the gym's points to zero before it becomes neutral for the taking.

How do i do my second move (the one that requires bars)

also, i haven't yet determined if dodging is best or just tapping like a maniac. I had good results at a gym by my house last night doing the madman tapping.

Yes IOS and got an update. Found it.

What's New in Version 1.0.1
WHAT’S NEW on 1.0.1

Thank you for your incredible response and support of Pokémon GO! We are working hard to improve the experience for everyone. This update focuses on making Pokémon GO more stable with the following improvements:

- Trainers do not to have to enter their username and password repeatedly after a force log out
- Added stability to Pokémon Trainer Club account log-in process
- Resolved issues causing crashes
- Fixed Google account scope

These all seem good.

Chansey is one of the rarest, I think, so that's a nice find. I've had an Omanyte since lv.3, but that was the only one I saw. The others are mid-rare to common, I see Psyducks everywhere.

Vaporeon CP 1090 (I thought i was going to get a Jolteon but I guess it thought the Blue gym was closer even thought it wasn't)

Huh? Is this a thing? Kind of doubt it because I'm a block from a yellow gym and just evolved one into Flareon.

Once your bar is filled up and flashing, press and hold the screen instead of tapping. If successful, your Pokemon will use that move. (Jolteon used Discharge! etc.)

Regarding what's best, well, it depends on the gym for me. Sometimes tapping is good, assuming it doesn't glitch out. Sometimes dodging is better.

what's this now?

The next rumor on how Eevee evolves. It says the gym color closest to you determines the evolution. So red Flareon, blue Vaporeon, yellow Jolteon. (I don't believe it.)

Yeah, the positive side is that she will go out more, it's good for health.

Anyone in the UK on iOS getting good Pokemon? Wanna know if my progress is stagnating because it's not actually out here.

I've got magneton and electobuzz. Also saw silloutte of either kadabra or alla not sure which it was today but I was in work so I couldn't go and get it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/4sirbt/im_done_buying_poké_balls_if_i_run_out_i_run_out/

I live in a small town that has a few stops scattered around, but unfortunately it's not enough to keep me ahead on poké balls when I make the trip out. The stops are spread out far enough that even if I walk laps between them, I end up spending about as many poké balls catching pokemon as I get from the stops... It ultimately just feels like a tax for rural players to have to buy poké balls.

Man speaks the truth!

Huh? Is this a thing? Kind of doubt it because I'm a block from a yellow gym and just evolved one into Flareon.

I thought it was? I read somewhere that it will evolve based on the closest gym color. I tested it out 3 times and it worked each time until now. I just happened to be between a blue and yellow gym about 5 minutes from each other. So I figured that's why it goofed and gave me another Blue.
